Wycombe Wanderers (A)
Would love to see us play 433 or a real 4231 without this inverted wingers nonsense. Anyone being critical of Dalby, Burstow or Dempsey needs to open their eyes.

So frustrating this, i can see why people are being critical of Dempsey and Dalby but honestly i dont really see what they can do. It's back to being 422 again. We're treating the wingers like theyre strikers.

Exeter City (H)
Heard something similar just before he got that bad injury the other year. Was always clear to me atleast that the reason our centre backs looked so poor in the 12 months prior to Mr Ego leaving, was due to teams recognising explots in Ego's tactics, not really down to the centre back. Prime Cannavaro, Nesta, and Puyol would have looked bang average in that team.

Swindon Town (A) - FA Cup 2nd Round
Against a 342, you can't play a 4231 unless your middle two have physicality, Sheehan and Morley don't. To cover for them everyone was moving into the middle and dropping too deep which then exposed our back 4. It was very similar to the last days of Evatt stuff, different tactics on paper of course but the same result. We have to be prepared to do something different away from home.

Real quality stuff from Randall, Dalby and Forss.

What a goal.

Ditto been calling for situational 433 for a while, I think Forss and Dalby who struggle in our version of 4231 would shine.

We need to talk about Sam Dalby
To be fair to Dalby if you look at his goals up in Scotland they come from 2 places, right through the middle and from a high cross into the box. Neither of which we really do and on the maybe 2/3 times we've done it, he scored. The way we play rn it doesn't really matter how good of a target man you are, we could play SKD up there and he'd struggle. Burstow's stopped scoring because he's dropping too deep because Dempsey is dropping too deep, it's that simple.

Tippy Tappy football
Stuff like that is why Evatt wanted rid of Dapo, any self expression, creativity etc were the "enemy" of "his" tippy-tappy style. He thought he was a genius and had discovered a sort of football cheat code, he thought we were all idiots for wanting a plan b. They thought that if they just recruited the right players that they could pass teams to death, that in the aggregate they'd get enough points to go up. It was nonsense, that spark of brilliance is what gets you those extra points each season by getting a goal when you didn't deserve it.

The Managerial Roundabout
He reminds me of this clip:

The Managerial Roundabout
This is and will always be untrue. A fiction created to justify your own defence of him, even in light of his obvious failings. He'd already been found out months prior, he tried to fix it but didn't understand what was broken, what wasn't working. Thus his fix broke us even more.

Huddersfield Town (A)
Re Conway don't forget Gareth Bale started playing as a left back.

Huddersfield Town (A)
I remember this being the case with David Nugent, a reliable goal machine in the Championship, was absolute diddums in the Premier League.

Huddersfield Town (A)
I'd be happy to see Conway given a go further up the pitch, remember Garath Bale was a left back before moving up pitch after he moved from Southampton to Tottenham. If not id be happy to see a 433, with us mixing it up between The force, Burstow, ACD and Dalby. You have abit of everything then. Reminds me of Big Sam with Stelio, SKD and EHD.

Huddersfield Town (A)
These are just the kind of goals SS's team at Stoke were getting, right through the middle on a counter attack, i think that's the first time we've done it this season. I just works, this cutting inside nonsense doesn't (atleast not for the entire game). Also props to ACD for a proper cross rather than trying to shoot for the wondergoal. if he can do more of that we'll be flying. This league is ours for the taking, nobody this year looks unbeatable, we've just got to go for it!

Huddersfield Town (A)
1 real cross and a good header and a worked goal though the middle. Finally. This is what we should have been doing all game. Crazy.

A real cross and there's the goal...easy
-
Huddersfield Town (A)
It dont matter if it should have been a pen, every team wins and loses them. we shouldnt be relying on pen's to get goals or ACD to get wondergoals

Huddersfield Town (A)
We just need to play 4231, have the wingers cross, play the overlap and simple passe. Sometimes play though the middle with the n10 dropping deep to get the pass from our 2 in the middle. Othertimes we need to go long. Having the wingers invert occasionally is fine just not all the time and not the source of all attacks. Atm all our attacks are this: Get ball - pass to winger - winger inverts - winger loses ball We have no variety its easy to defend against.
-
Huddersfield Town (A)
This shit is crippling our attack.
-
Huddersfield Town (A)
ffs we just need some variety, maybe not 100% inverted maybe use the overlap, maybe work the ball though the middle or cross low, high etc.
