Like a Josh Sheehan pitch.

So, what happened on Saturday? I think ACD’s put in good performances with Christie. More importantly, the primary role is as a defender and Christie is much better at this.

Do they have sprinklers? Or a bloke with a hosepipe? It is League One!

If Dempsey plays, that is a four man midfield. Dempsey is an 8, not a 10. With Dempsey, we can play a three man midfield, and still employ two wingers. The problem is, we have no other box-to-box midfielder, to replace Dempsey. Such a role cannot be done by one player for 90 minutes, Saturday and Tuesday.

World Cup 2026
They’re getting there. Morocco reached the semi finals of the last World Cup and Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana have reached the quarter finals.

Rubbish goal. No stepovers!

Or go in 6-0 up at half time, and put the B (U21) team on for the second half.

We need to talk about Sam Dalby
I’ve yet to be convinced by Dalby, but if you’re going down the “stats wise” at least present them appropriately. Burstow has had 1,351 minutes Dalby has had 305 minutes Yes, Burstow still has the batter goals per minute ratio, but it’s much less of a gap. And stats wise, Dalby has received one decent aerial ball … and scored from it: 100%.

Something of a “tallest dwarf” point!

Didn’t he come from there?

As did the much maligned Schon, whose 1 goal and 4 assists in 39 appearances wasn’t great, but betters those of Tutu.

Wasn’t the disallowed seventh goal another for Scot Taylor?

Not necessarily. As we saw at Huddersfield, an inswinging cross from an inverted winger can cause havoc. Our full backs are on the right side, so the combination of the two roles can provide both inswinging and outswinging (or pullback) crosses.

Bummed off players bought back for pure £
Which Morley did, after we released him at 14. So, relevant. The point is what we paid for his return was value, given the development given to him by Rochdale.

While I don’t think McAtee has ripped up any trees, I do think he’s offered more than Randall, when we’ve seen them both. Despite this, selections over the last month or so, have clearly favoured Randall. i can’t help wondering if a permanent deal is lined-up for McAtee, in the New Year, and we’re not jeopardising that deal with an injury.

Are you sure? In 68 games for us, he’s never shown he can head a ball in an accurate and controlled manner. Dalby has had one half decent cross from ACD and did brilliantly to put the ball into the back of the net, at Huddersfield.

SS also said in the pre-match interview that we had so many fit and available that some would not even make the matchday squad. This is what happened. The number of subs is not limitless. i do think Randall was a waste of a place on the bench and, for the same reason, McAtee would have been likewise. Cogley to cover the full backs, would have given more complete cover.

You make some great points, @Eddie, and I wasn’t being harsh on the defence. I agree Toal and Johnston had very good games, as did TSL. However, aside from scoring, we battered them in the first half and Dempsey was driving a lot of this, creating opportunities that others than didn’t take.

Dempsey was man of the match for me. Remember, those you’ve named earned most of their plaudits in the last 20 minutes, after Dempsey was withdrawn.

There are still plenty of seats in all home areas. When no one can get a seat and we’re sold out, then a moan might be legimate. A (nearly) sold out stafium looks tremendous and has a great atmosphere. If you’re worried about the noise from the away end, shout louder. If the players are intimidated by a full away end, they ain’t for us.

That is correct. He missed a couple of matches and was a sub as he came back from injury. However, he was in the starting lineup for the final, highlighting how key he was to that team.- Todays Games
Not World Cup but, for me, nothing beats watching Stelios celebrate Greece winning the Euros, while carrying his young son, who was wearing a Wanderers top. ❤️ - Todays Games
