I’ve said it before but it’s the first season he’s had in Management where he’s had genuine expectations (L2 was subdued by no fans in stadiums). The piece is spot on, not only have we as fans got these expectations, he’s only increased them.

That Barnsley goal is huge, it needs to be backed up with a win this weekend but the impact on the fans, and likely on the squad, is fucking massive. If that doesn’t go in then I genuinely think things would have turned. 3 big away games, 3 games with pressure on them, 3 losses - that would have been catastrophic, rightly or wrongly.

Thankfully it did go in and the mood is very very different than it could have been.

It would need more than that and frustration at half time for the board to act.

If home games became full of hostility etc then maybe, but third in the table as was, and frustration away from home isn't necessarily the fans turning em masse. FV are clearly not reactionary, but in it for the foreseeable (with the Swiss folk obviously), and no way would they act at the moment.

Having seen how long it took extreme fan pressure to get Megson out I'd say Evatt isn't in any immediate risk. He'll have at least till Christmas if no promotion and not challenging next year to be moved on by the board after investing so much in him.

That being said it was getting a bit toxic at half time and after the second goal - he really needs to get us playing well against these big teams we've got coming up as a minimum even if we don't go up to avoid the fans turning on him. Even with a loss against Barnsley I don't think the fans would have turned at the end because we'd had a go and played well.

Agree with this it's not the losing that piss me off it's the seemingly lack of effort/fight when we should be fired up and having a proper go

. ... & this week we saw the team alter it's ponderous style & go at an opposition with speed. It worked. As, quite frankly, we all believed it could.

Spoke to a Barnsley supporting colleague earlier. He said that once we made it 1-2 he and a lot of those a round him thought we'd win. He said BWFC were great in the last 20-30 minutes....

They were happy with a point in the end....
