Popular Post SatanGreavsie Posted August 16, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 16, 2024 Beating Liverpool in the 3rd game of the 2001-2 season. After two wins, including the amazing day at Leics, this late winner from Holdsworth put us genuinely top of the league and three in three for Ricketts. You just thought "what's going on here???" 27k+ on as well. We were back! Quote
MancWanderer Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Not in my top 3 but the legendary Tony Kelly/Dave Higson “Zico” game is one that will live in the memory The shit days of football. Small crowds. We were in dark days. They weren’t a club we ever gave a second thought about at the time But the joy that day was summat else. It was like a home game Quote

Remember getting on the pitch and booting a bottle of champagne into the net. I was same age. Still got a brown envelope somewhere with some Burnden grass (pitch, not drugs) from the pitch invasion. All sorts of innocent childish shit written on the envelope - "Mike Walsh stood here" from memory one of them. Quote
RONNIE PHILLIPS Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 And as the title says moments...... When it was announced we had signed Youri..... Signing a bone fide superstar & current World Cup holder felt surreal (and would have felt more so if we knew what was to follow) Quote

Up with the best in my lifetime - top of the prem, beating Liverpool with a last minute winner, disbelief as a newly promoted team. There's obviously more meaningful goals to keep us up, win promotion etc, but just for the moment I love this. Quote

tomski Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 When we signed Jay Jay I’ve never known my non Bolton mates so perplexed. Glorious Quote
mickbrown Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Apart from all the obvious, Charlton, quarter final of the cup when Holden got sent off. Some motivational speaker bloke came on the pitch pre match with a mic and I’m thinking ‘what the fuck is this’. 60 seconds later I’m all for abseiling down from the upper tier and launching myself at the away end. gonzo Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Port Vale away is always at the forefront of my mind in these discussions. The day had absolutely everything. Battle bus in their town centre before 10am. Carnage all the way to the ground. The sheer pandemonium when Wheater score. Carnage on the pitch then Carnage after. What a fucking day. Quote

That bar was like the Alamo come 230 when we emerged and hit the daylight Looked like they'd released everyone from Strangeways and they'd assembled outside to 'wave' us off Quote

Everyone bowling about in the living quarters upstairs ffs They carried out a pincer assault on the escort that your old mob would be proud haha Quote

Recall us having him on for a late season game against Wolves when we were both chasing the play offs (again). Fair to say the Wolves fans weren’t impressed (again). Quote
frank_spencer Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Coca Cola cup final we had tickets into the coca cola experience thing in the arena and I met Kevin Keegan and got my coca cola foam finger signed. First proper big day out watching the Wanderers at 12yr old THAT Aaron Wilbraham goal. Blackburn away when Benni McCarthy missed 2 pens back to back. Poor kid in a McCarthy shirt walking back to the car park in the school grounds in front of a massive group of wanderers getting pelters all the way up the hill. Would've said Bayern away but my memory of that day is shaky at best. Quote

frank_spencer Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Haha genuinely no memory of the 2nd one being Roberts. He always seemed to score against us on shitty rainy nights he'd come on at about 80 mins and scruff one in from about 2 yds. Quote

Dr Faustus Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 still not sure on mine... so i'm gonna cheat Burnden- beating Swindon in the league cup semis- the come back, the atmosphere- the sensation of going to Wembley still resonates with me. It was my first couple of years as a fan, at an age where impressions mattered. think i walked home that night, just buzzing with pride and anticipation. Wolves at home 95- in the Paddock and saw the exact movement of this ball and knew we were destined for promotion https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=404444983656960 1-0 vs Arsenal, dont think i've sang with such gusto as 'Rioch, what's the score?', young Serbian lad made his debut that night IIRC, I also got briefly interviwed by sky- spoilt by my mate twatting me with a programme. BL6- Wilbrahimovic- that shit doesnt happen to us; I dont think i've seen the look of bewilderment on my close ones face before or since- immaterial in the grand scheme, but fuck me... Peterborough the year before- my kids first pitch invasion, special shout to th'eldest who decided to go back on and get booed by our own fans- the day she learned not to drink so much, spewed in the bus ticket bin, then wanted a cab for 500 yards 24 November 2007- wouldnt believe until it happened- what a day Jay-Jay- take your pick; the rainbow flick, the free kick... tearing West Ham a new one Freddi Bobic making me go home and dance in my garden Other- Boro away before Black Sunday- thought we had a chance. Plovdiv, when we came back... Col H shed a tear... realisation of school age dream, we were in Europes elite: flash forward to Munich, the bouncing bomb off Ricky, to thinking we could nick it... to waking up in Salzburg But ultimately... its this- after every bit of shit, the drawn out emotions- the reason i've squandered £1000s over the years was worth oit for this photo- my kids looking back on our support at Wembley; knowing i've passed something on to them, and that the memory of day out at the smoke- winning division 3 cup will never leave them- whatever they do, they have that Quote
