Worst moments

I referenced this in the other thread. This was my reaction at our hotel in Reading after the 7-1 thrashing in 2014. I didn’t wreck the hotel but my wife (who didn’t go to the match) thought I’d gone mental.
Stoke (semi final) and Aldershot (playoffs) are up there.

One that I'd almost forgotten about until I read this thread.... The humping at Tranmere in the League Cup semi final, we were beyond abysmal that night.

I was sat in with the Tranmere fans that night. Possibly one of the worst experiences of my life

Never had a Chopper. I had a Strika and later a Grifter. Grifter was an absolute unit, pretty sure my ebike is not much heavier. Just checked and they are making Choppers again, take my money!

There was an Ipswich player whose cock dropped out running at Wembley... Bobby Robson wrote about it

I was an autograph nerd when I was 10, and I actually got Dunphy to sign this photograph when Millwall visited Burnden.

Was that the nght they put a banner or something over the nets we were kicking in to?  Sam had the players straight back on the coach after. No showers, no pint, no butties, nowt. Just a bolloking the length of the East Lancs.

Haha no need. I’m just glad you didn’t ask for evidence.

Pretty sure the straight in straight out match was a 1-0 win on a bank holiday with Whitlow scoring

But can't remember the match which sparked it all off and caused that response

But do recall we put extra advertising hoardings in and wouldn't give their players towels to dry balls, to try and stop Dave Challinor doing his long throw ins

One match we moved the advertising boards close to the pitch with no gaps so that the baboon with the long throw couldn't get a run up. And hid the ball drying towels to further fuck him up.

I can't remember the order of the shithousery on both sides.

Challinor. That's the fucker . Couldn't think of his name for the life of me, and Goggle isn't my friend.

So I'm thinking

First leg of the semi we did the advertising boards and towels

So in the return leg they turned all the water off in the changing rooms or something like that

Then next time we went we went straight off the coach and onto the pitch

So have  I dreamt about a banner across the goals one time ?

Not the worst moment, but maybe one of the best minutes followed by one of the worst.

Ferdinand causing chaos against Utd and we took the lead in added on time.

Only for them to equalise with the last kick.

I just couldn’t console my then young son.

No, the advertising hoardings was a league game. We lost 2-3, their first win at ours.

The league cup was Aldridge over celebrating in front of our bench and being the graceless prick he was. Whitlow scored the goal in the 1-0 league win afterwards and no celebrations, just jogged straight back to the centre.

Last word was Sam's in 442 magazine. 'I'm a Premier League manager. I think he's a commentator now on radio Merseyside'.

Did they turn the water off in our changing rooms? That's something I seem to recall

I have a random memory from that 2-3 defeat

It was the very very early days of mobiles and id signed up to some text alert goal service

Maybe it was because I was at the match with a shite reception but I got the updates all in the wrong order

This general order sounds about right, can't remember if it was the home league game or cup game.

Big Sam's response in the second season was perfect though. Tranmere had the hold over us in his first season, but instead of getting caught up in it all, he'd built a team of hard men to just go in, get the points and leave. As if Tranmere weren't worthy of our time. Excellent
