Johnnyrotten Posted October 27 Posted October 27 I'm not into comparing with last season, but if we do want to keep up with last year we're already 3 points behind and on NY Day we had 51 points from 24 games. We'd need 31 points from the next 12 to match that, 10 wins, a draw and a loss - a 50% improvement on our first 12 games. Unrealistic with any opponents never mind the fixture list we've got. I'll take just getting established in the top 6 and showing we can compete better in the tougher games, especially away. Quote

My issue is that we’ve only played 3 of our ‘big’ matches - 25% of our matches so far - and we’ve got 1 point. We’ve still got to play those 3 again, plus Wigan, Stockport, Rotherham, Blackpool and Barnsley twice - 38% of our remaining games. If we can’t materially improve our performances in those big games then we’re going nowhere. In my mind, a Stevenage win puts us broadly back to par, but Stockport and Blackpool (assuming Rotherham is moving) are the true tests then as to whether anything will actually change over the rest of the season. Stig Posted October 27 Posted October 27 It's a real shame all the "inside wanderers" footage is kept behind a paywall. That's the stuff that helps get the youth hooked. Quote

We have had 3 real tests this season 2 which were at home Wrexham Huddersfield and brum away . We were poor in all 3 coming away with a point . I think we’re still along way from proving to most people that enough as changed in the big games since Wembley that’s required to get top two Quote

So we've won 1, drawn 1, lost 2. The reason this division is tough this year is there's so many of these big games too. Probably 12 teams all with realistic chances of making the play offs, so if we want to be up there we have to improve in the games against these rivals. Quote

I'd have thought that re Posh too, beforehand, though on the day they showed why they've let 25 goals in and were one of the easier teams to play against that we'll meet all season. Their defenders and keeper obviously did well, saves, blocks etc but in front of them they gave the ball away a lot and were a bit passive once they'd lost it. Sheehan was well aided by Matete but I'd imagine it was one of his most enjoyable games for some time. Quote
wakey Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Probably best all round performance of the season so far, a win against a side we'd expect to be play-off contenders again, our first win against anyone not relegation fodder, and all done with a dramatic last kick winner we'll all remember for years... ... and we're arguing over which of our players were shitter. 🤪 Quote

To be honest, that is exactly what I expected in this match. It won't work against everyone but I don't expect he will try it every game. Quote

The ball was on the ground for a goal kick before the 6 minutes went up on the board. Peterborough made a substitution before the goal kick was taken and it was beyond 91 mins when the ball came back into play. 91 + 6 = 97, I think. Quote
