October 27, 20241 yr Vic's built like a tank but is knocked off the ball far too easily, and can't hold the ball up for toffee. None of the other forwards are good at holding up play either but at least with a ratter like Charles the 2nd ball is always there.

I’d argue there was another forward on the pitch yesterday who offered even less value than Vic, and has done all season. We need Vic, or a player like him, in our squad. Fingers crossed we all get what we want in 7 months time. It's all about opinions I guess? Are you referring to Collins as the other striker?
October 27, 20241 yr Enjoyed the game yesterday could have been out of sight before half time but that’s football pleased to see we battled to the last second and got what we deserved. Like Matete no fuss moves the ball on quickly quick mention for Southwood getting better the more I see of him and Santos MOM .

I’m not here to open a McAtee can of worms, but am yet to see him at the levels we need. I hope he comes good as the season goes on.

Guessing when dempsey is back (hopefully next week) then he will drop to the bench as matete played that deeper role well yesterday- to me it looked like he kept things more simple.

My lad has never rated him and its tough to argue with his opinion.

October 27, 20241 yr Just now, thebells said: We’ll get 2 pages out of this McAtee stuff before someone plays their Sheehan wildcard You started it 🤣 To an extent I get the Vic and McAtee debates they weren’t brilliant yesterday, but both were effective at times. I really don’t get the Cogley criticism, I thought he was excellent yesterday! I’m sure some people have their mind made up before a ball is kicked and refuse to be persuaded by what’s happening in front of their eyes!
October 27, 20241 yr I think McAtee is best behind the striker, although we don't tend to play that role Maybe it's what we'll eventually work towards
October 27, 20241 yr The league table looks a lot nicer today than it did a few weeks back. Onwards and upwards , Win Tuesday and season is well and truly back on track.
October 27, 20241 yr First thing, I take back my doubts about Matete, nothing fancy but he did everything right , as did Sheehan. Needs must & it's a risky setup that could go wrong, but those 2 were very good yesterday. 2nd half, we played some lovely football probing down both wings & getting in behind them & having Charles' pace to bring on against tiring defenders was a bonus......it would have been a travesty if we hadn't won, but their keeper did well for them., the 2nd save off the penalty was exceptional. MOTM when we couldn't score I feared a sucker punch off their lively forwards but Santos ( & Johnston ) defended really well & used the ball well. EIEIEIO

October 27, 20241 yr Just now, gonzo said: The subs that worked yesterday? come on gonzo of course they worked.......he replaced schon/winger McAtee Winger/forward and Adeboyejo winger/Forward for Williams lwb Lolos attacking midfield and Charles 20 goals a season forward With those changes we went from 5/2/3 to 5/3/2 but more importantly we had players playing in positions they are used to
