Wycombe Wanderers (A)

I’m hovering over the cancellation button on our hotel…. The only thing that is stopping me, is the chance we may have a new manager, which would inject some hope of a new beginning.

I mean Christ it would be some baptism of fire, with a bunch of midfielders unavailable and only 1 fit reserve central defender, against top of the league. But I think it would be a free hit for a new manager wouldn’t it?

Spoke to a few away ST holders, all of them have used this as one of their five returns.

Is anyone going??!

If Forrester is dropped next week after that he may as well pack his bag and leave right there and then. There’s not even the excuse anymore of Santos being ©️ he’s been patient, got his chance a

Quite enjoyed the game. Didn't think it was dire, shit or embarrassing as some have described it. Good point away from home against top of the league.

It might be true, but im just taking issue with an argument he was dropped on the back of being Baresi

Said no-one. How stupid

He was playing well, and was dropped. Simple.

He can defend, and by the fuck do we need that.

Was dogshit

Just added for balance.

Was v good tonight

Agreed, terrible at Stockport and been terrible previously when played on the right of the 3, because being in possession isn't really his thing.

He's a central defender.  He's not a Jones type that wants to bomb forward.  So he either plays out of position or he's preferred to Santos.  So he'll be back on the bench, or he'll probably have another poor game if selected instead of Jones, which is very unlikely anyway.

If he gets picked on the left instead of Johnston, its going to be a car crash (won't happen anyway).

The ideal would be 4 at the back - Forrester and Santos the 2 CBs.

If I remember rightly it wasn't so much Forrester getting dropped last time when playing well, he got injured again at an inopportune time having been injured at start of season. He was certainly looking a solid sort though at the time

This playing it out from the back thing...

I'm sure people don't watch us actually play.

Pretty sure he was dropped when (Santos) was back fit.

Referring to last season here.

Why not talk about this season

Had a chance and didnt grab it

Hes not better than Santos so he needs to be better than Toal Jones

Has he been...who knows

Of course it was unfair. We didn't rip any trees up the back end if the season neither.

He may lack Santos' passing, but sometimes an out and out defender is needed, and one who isnt expected to "be Beresi".

The big man doesn't want to sign on, we're not exactly flying, so now is the time to give others more game time.

There seems to be a few, especially on Twitter, who are a bit deluded / entitled about where we are, who we had available tonight and being underdogs at Wycombe.

There really wasn't much to pick holes in tonight. The realists amongst us would have taken a 0-0 there tonight even with a full strength side

He's been iinjured for a large part of it.

You're making a comment about a game that they were all abysmal in. One after which it was revealed that many were ill.

If that's the basis of your point then it's a pretty weak one.

Maybe a game against the best team in the league, with a depleted squad, is a far better way to assess a player.

And yes, it is relevant to look at last season too.

1%  more belief or creativity we win that.

Not a decent through ball all night.

Unfair?

Did he not play shit at Stockport?

I dont care a shite if Santos re signs

While hes ours we pick from what we have and tbh this isnt forrester v santos

This is forrester v at least 3 others..could chuck cogley in, strolled through tonight

And fwiw, i dont think hes in the best 3

Not mentioned much but I thought Williams was excellent tonight. Put a shift in and did his job very well

Rico’s an odd one. Few times they threatened I’m thinking “fuck me that wouldn’t have happened if he was there”. Most of the game I’m thinking “how good is it us not playing walking football”

I'd have a pick about that (it was just messy and scrappy in the middle all night, no composure on either side), and us playing for an hour or more without any strikers. Collins and Vic were invisible after first 15 mins, Dion and McAtee struggled to get involved when they came on.

As i touched on, nobody mentioned cogley

Never really noticed him

Its why i think we are not far off

We have some of the best strikers

Keep clean sheets and we fly

I’ll take that … point and a decent display. COYWM

Not far off play offs. Which for me isn't good enough with this squad if used well

Without doubt, they've gone out of fashion but they breed confidence and instil belief. I'm not bothered about how many we win by if I'm not seeing us piss goals in that are completely avoidable

Wrong about what ? Because I'm deffo not wrong about Thomasson going missing and I'm not wrong about us not being good enough with the ball.

I couldn't give a fuck if these are top of the league. We need to pass the ball better. We can have these. I ain't getting an inferiority complex over fucking wycombe.

Alright treacle , easy . thommo played well as did the rest of the team besides the front 3 . Collins started really well but barely got a pass , Vic worked hard but did nothing but barely got a pass , Lolos was terrible , Macatee was worse but barely got a pass .

Everyone else , head held high with that performance , enjoyed the game and proud of the team and even more of the fans . Could have knicked it , delighted with a point.

I know you remember Neal

He had a couple of long unbeaten runs

Started with nils

Whilst I admire the optimism, we’ve failed to score in 8 of our 19 league games this season with those strikers. Only 1 of the top 10 teams has scored fewer than us.

Cleans sheets will most certainly help, but if we’d kept a clean sheet in every game we’d still have drawn over 40% of our matches.

which would give us how many more points ? rather draw than lose .

If the other lot are on nil its a different game
