Always thought IE set us up well, but his inability to adapt when teams had us sussed out struck me as a bit arrogant and ignorant, like he didn't appreciate his tactics could ever not work.

I agree with this. We generally dominated in the first quarter of games, but you just knew how the game would pan out if we hadn't scored. The opposition knew we'd carry on doing the same things, so they adapted. We stuck to the tried, tested and not quite good enough and results/performances eventually also weren't quite enough.

The new manager has seen this happening and made changes, as and when needed. I noticed that he had Sheehan & Schon both ready to come on at 1-1 to help change things and push for a goal ; we scored whilst they were waiting to go on and he still made the changes, suggesting he still wanted a fresh push for a goal.

Not to mention the almost robotically predictable 70 minute like-for-like subs.

Not sure if its been mentioned elsewhere, but SS said in his interview that Shrewsbury set up differently to how we expected them to.

We've just had about 2 years of every manager in the league knowing exactly not only what formation we'd use, but how our approach and tactics would be, and what subs we'd make when.

I know some will say he tweaked them in-game, but I think SS has put all that into perspective - everyone knew how we were going to play.  Now maybe they don't?

And credit to Gareth Ainsworth, it seems Shrewsbury don't only play one way as well, why would you play into the opposition's hands by making it easy to prepare your team to play you?

Giving credit for not being predictable feels as odd as giving credit for marking players on the edge of the box at corners - it seems blindingly obvious, but IE made the obvious seem revolutionary and unattainable!

What a relief to put that behind us.

Think he also said having no game in the week would be good as they've spotted something defensively that they can now work on to improve us.

Something along those lines.

As dire as McAtee was first half, he could have had two goals by half time.

I think as fans we like to categorise performances into "1st half" and "2nd half".  I thought it was just the first half hour we were terrible on Saturday, and SS seemed to agree.

Likewise McAtee wasn't terrible the entire 1st half, he improved when we did, and was very much part of it.  The movement for that header the keeper saved was surprisingly good considering I've never seen that once in the previous 6 months.  Ghosted in like Andy Walker in his prime!  I don't know if its total coincidence or not but after (I think) no headers on target all season from open play, good to see 2 excellent one's in consecutive games (Tutu's goal the other), a skill that other teams use but that seemed beyond us under IE.

Surprised to see that we are only 8 points down on last seasons total after 31 games. Thought it would be more

That's unbelievable. Tougher league this season for sure

13 points.  Unless I'm mistaken, 63 points after 31 games last year, currently 50 points.
