Only the most wealthy fans in the world will be at this world cup supporting their team. Doesnt scream fun to me.  If England get to the final, i'd genuinely rather be in england than at the game

  • If it wasn't for my lads I wouldn't want us anywhere near the premier league.

Ticket pricing for this tournament being an absolute scandal is not new news!

UEFA are a disgrace as much as FIFA are, but at least they have a pretty even handed approach to selling tickets for the Euros. Still committing to selling batches of cheap tickets for Euro 28.

We've been discussing it on here for months. Thanks for the exclamation mark implying that I'd only just heard though.

The Sky Sports show brought it back to front of mind as I'd been becoming more wrapped up in the anticipation of an incredible football spectacle. Wonder if we will actually see half empty stadia?

You're welcome.

I think there will be some games with patches of empty seats around, especially the less enticing fixtures, even if they do crash prices in the days leading up to them.

Cant wait to see what the atmospheres are like for the Mexico games, Azteca is a great place to kick it all off.

madness

this really needs to flop to save the tournament going forward

it's around this time I start to listen to this on repeat and convince myself we will win

It feels like there's much less hype around England this time

A good thing, I think

Our first game on ITV hasnt done anything for my enthusiam. Matterface and Dixon serenading us with absolute drivel for 2 hours

if England had Portugal's midfield and France's attack i'll be well confident but I still think we can do well given who we do have and with Kane upfront we can hurt any team, I'm leaning towards France to win and Olise player of tournament, Spain obviously will push them but Yamal as missed the last month or so with Barca though they can ease him in given their group tbh.

As for our 11, 3 places up for debate I think, Rashford or Gordon, Bellingham or Rogers and Stones or Konsa to partner Guehi, I'd go with Rashford, Bellingham and Konsa myself, but wouldn't mind any of these, it'd be very brave to leave Bellingham out, perhaps we'll learn more tonight v Costa Rica and against Panama you could defo push Bellingham further back if we need something out the game if you wanna go more attacking.

As for the rest, Argentina of course can still win it, Messi came on earlier sets up a chance with a beauty of a control and pass and scores a pen, Nico Paz is an amazing talent, a potential quarter final vs Portugal, one last Messi v Ronaldo match, be quite fitting.

Japan and Norway to do well form the underdogs, Netherlands to flop.

Yep. The atmosphere there will really be something. They were in our hotel for the Paraguay game in 2006. 24 hour party people. No sleep for any fucker. Mariachi bands blaring all night.

I'm putting all of this down to TT. Cool, calm, collected and in complete control.

We have a friendly behind closed doors tomorrow to.

Just had a mate tell me he has had £100 on Kane for golden boot. Any normal time maybe but Belgium, Argentina and Spain all have group games with Iran, New Zealand, Jordan , Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia. They could be cricket scores, someone could have 10 goals before we get to the knockout bit.

Englands game delayed KO due to lightening storms

Yeah, that ITV studio is absolutely top.

Did Keane's luggage go missing and he had to do a dash to Walmart?

Tipping teams at World Cups always seems a bit futile. Its a cup competition and the best team doesnt always win as games often decided by penalties, refs and sheer bad luck.

England have progressed in terms of tournament know-how. Two Euros Finals, WC Semifinal in recent times. The other time I thought we were the better team against France and we were a missed Kane penalty away from ET. Manager is a clear upgrade. Doubts about defence for me but there's a lot there in our favour. Also doubts about us i.e paralysis when near winning, hopefully Tuchel can sort that. Can't see the nations below having that issue.

France and Portugal seem to have the best squads. But France's defence (Konate) and relying on a 35 year old Kante possibly means they're light in midfield. Strength is definitely their forward line.

Portugal look fantastic but the obvious turd that wont flush upfront. Manager not great though.

Couple of journalists on Guardian Weekly tipping England believe it or not. Auclair (French) and JonathanLiew who can be a bit of a dour twat so hardly jingoism. Even Barry Glendenning was talking us up.

Spain possibly dont have as many stars as previous (Yamal apart) but they got better and better at the last Euros and were clearly the best team.

Really looking forward to it now in spite of the sideshow. Certainly from the Round of 32 onwards anyway. As that's the best number of participants for me.

Glendenning didn't even realise the team he supports had a Haitian player, basically stealing a living as a journalist these days

Decent run out that.

Good work out, physical opposition, navigating some tricky conditions, 3 goals, not much more you can expect in your final warm up before the big ones.

agreed with the itv studio, they need to do UHD though, bbc do it for games. but still looks good on my LGTV tbh, loads of shots by England, seemed to every minute or so after subs came on, Eze played some clever passes when he came on, Gordon with an assist and goal maybe puts him in for Croatia? not sure.

Gordon definitely the standout player tonightb

Never seen him so relaxed 😃 He was saying ITV said each person could take a maximum of 5 suitcases each!

Yeah, and he said he'd only take one.
