Might be wrong on this, but didn't Rico tweak a muscle in warm up at Blackpool and then start the game ?

The game being the pizza cup.

And then came off at ht and miss a month or so ?

Think Evatt might have said he wanted to play but I'm really not sure I believe that now.

Starting to get unreasonably enraged the more I think about things that went on the last 12/18 months of his tenure.

this is correct

toal also rushed back after that tackle in the pizza final

Yup.

And It puts players in a real awkward postion as they feel like they can't say "no". Even though it will have a detrimental effect on longterm fitness. The bloke is a tit

Thought so 👍

Yes, I'd expect a player to try to play through something if it's a vital game.

Bit like Dion in the playoffs last year.

Just didn't think pizza cup was worth taking a chance on.

Perhaps 😉

I knew about his fall out with Sarc. The fall out with Doyle, Dapo and Declan John because of them speaking out was news to me.

That's because it didn't happen.

Nobody can force a player to play injured. Loads play with knocks and injuries that's just football.

Fuck me Evatt was a pillock but he was hardly whipping them in to submission.

Even SS spoke about the issue the other week.

He whipped Dion and Vic into submission by the end of Jan last year by not rotating them.

Then had to play Bod non stop for the next 3 months and whipped him into submission.

Bit of proper rotation and all 3 might have been more available

Course they do mate, that incident just stuck with me and I wonder if it pointed to a bigger problem.

Remember Evatt seeming to get the hump with Baxter when he took forever to come back from injury.

Could be remembering that wrong too and it could also be that Baxter was a soft arse 🤷‍♂️.

Ironically, I think Rico's first game back was at Blackpool when he got sent off  incorrectly 🤦‍♂️

But you are absolutely correct and I expect most are playing with some kind of knock come the arse end of the season especially 👍

Aye Dapo who's continued to talk highly of Evatt and vice versa even open invites to go to each others games.

Doyle who apparently left and was handed a scouting brief for us in the Irish league.

DJ and Fat Tony did fall out with Evatt though.

A bit different playing with a knock, and being asked to play with a continuous back injury.

An injury that turned out to be a broken bone there.

Rather than asking him to play through it, which was clearly hamlering his performance, why wasn't he sent back to the physios for proper assessment?

Played for weeks with it.

Something wrong with the whole set up when such a situation arises.

Pretty much every other central midfielder was injured so Dempsey wanted to play to help the team. Evatt should've had the medical team check his back properly before letting him play on.

Dempsey is a grown man not some 14 year old kid. It's up him to declare himself fit not the manager.

Aye Sarcs showed his arse after being dropped for his return to Plymouth and spat his dummy out in a team meeting the following day.

DJ could fall out with his own shadow. Him and IE were always a bad mix.

wasn't a fall out as such with Dapo and Doyle

I'm led to believe that Dapo didn't want to go to Germany, but the offer was the only one on the table and the club wanted to cash out, so they basically said told him he was gone, and he had a strop about it and stormed out before a game

re: Doyle, the club told IE they wanted him and Sarc off the wage bill in Jan, and to get rid - so IE decided to be twats to them in order to make them want to leave which included the whole Plymouth saga, Sarc had his strop off the back of it so they let him go early - Doyle wasn't planning on going back to Ireland mid contract, but was told he was no longer wanted and to find another club

no idea re: John, but that definitely looked liek a fall out

Manager has the last word though.

Of course a good egg like Dempsey was putting himself forward and prepared to play, but if you look at comments on here at the time, he was getting pelters for his lack of performance.

It was absolutely obvious he was injured, yet he still played him. His performances alone didn't warrant it.

The comments from Evatt at the time were along the lines of "I asked if he was fit" and he declared himself to be. Maybe a bit of mental pressure being applied.

As earlier, how on earth was he even able to make that decision, given he wasn't even aware of a broken bone in his back.

Some really shat work from the physios, fitness guys, right through.

It is their responsibility to accurately determine injuries etc and feed that information to the management and the player.

It's not like it was a one off neither.

The player has the last word if they are fit enough to play.

Tell that to Sarcevic

We'll have to disagree on that one then.

For me, the manager is the top man, and he takes into account all different aspects.

If he can't see that a player is struggling, when he knows that player has an injury, then he's not doing his job properly.

He said fit not fat.

by the end of the season we had a full team unavailable

if a player is struggling but not doing significant further damage and is better than the alternative and is willing to play

course he fucking plays

Firstly, he was really poor, so his level of contribution was minimal.

We don't know if anyone else would have been better.

Secondly, and more, importantly, he had a broken bone in his back. That's damage enough.

Perhaps if he had been made aware, he wouldn't have made himself available.

It was a big cock up initially, and still playing when clearly not fit, just compounded it.
