Fair enough.

That said, I wouldn't be against everyone of our squad being made available for transfer.
Every single one of them has disappointed us to some degree : some more than others, of course.

At the end of the day (and throughout the day) everyone of our players is available for transfer if someone will pay some type of fee or maybe just take them off our hands.

Agree with this, there is a player there,  but if McAtee does not improve his basic hold up play, heading and aggression, for example the Barnsley version of McAtee, he will be out.

I'll stick my neck out and say he won't.  That's not a dig at him, he has other qualities, but if you can't head a ball very well (or use strength to hold it up), you just can't, as shown by most players in our squad.

Same with trying to use the other foot, only Collins seems to have that string to his bow (an underrated skill IMO).  Imagine trying to teach Santos to kick accurately with his left foot.

Hard to distinguish the tongue-in-check comments, from those who genuinely thought about half a dozen players would be publicly placed on a transfer list!

I think the loan signings have been dire this season compared with previous seasons.......7 released does not mean they will be like for like plus Conway returning is a good start

Offering Hutchinson a deal it looks like he will be the reserve keeper next season on i imagine peanuts compared with Baxter.

I will be happy if we can loan a further three, four out. Which looks a certainty

I don't think he will be, if I'm right in thinking keepers don't count towards the quota.

No disrespect to him but if we settle for Hutch as back up (knowing he could play 20 games or so), that's one position weakened IMO.  I don't know if SS will try to bring in an obvious "no.1" who's better than Southwood but if not I'd expect him to get an experienced no.2.  He won't want to be going to places like Cardiff and Plymouth with Hutch in goal, I expect him to go on loan (I could be wrong of course).

I don’t believe he can’t head a ball. He chooses not to. He shits out of every single aerial challenge.

It’s the lack of effort that’s unforgivable and he can fuck right off.

Schumacher has said he wants a forward that can hold the ball up and run in behind. We definitely need that type of player in this team. Vic can do it but we need someone that can put the ball in the next from further than 5 yards out.

I wish he'd demonstrated it occasionally.  I've never seen a ball bounce off someone as much as him, why can't we play against these type of forwards instead of signing them.

We’d be stupid to say that, for example, CMG has been told to find a new club, as this would reduce any transfer free. I’m sure there’s a quite a lot - CMG, Lolos, even McAteer - that we’d listen to offers for. But if the buyer knows you want to sell, the price goes down. You only show your hand when you absolutely must do; I.e. mid-late August.

I could be totally wrong here but I don't think we'll care about a transfer fee for CMG, Lolos etc.  I'll make an exception for McAteer and Randall as we paid so much for them and they do have a "reasonable" reputation at L1 level.  But for SS it won't be about fees, it will be more about finding takers to get them out of their contracts so that he can bring in his own men.

Take us, Wrexham and Brum out of it, how many L1 teams are paying fees?  Stockport maybe, yes Huddersfield paid for Charles, they won't be making that type of mistake again.

Its virtually all frees and loans, IE was almost on his own with his inflated valuations of players.

I'd be happy enough with Hutchinson being the back up goalie and strengthening elsewhere.

If worst comes to worst and he is needed for a period and doesn't seem up to is you can usually do emergency goalie moves.

Only if they're injured, you can't just drop him and say please can we have another 😀.

But I don't think GKs count, so it doesn't influence being able to strengthen elsewhere.

No that is a fair shout.......I am going off having money to bring players in on wages rather than the quota

Paying for Southwood, Baxter, Coleman and Hutch was evidently too much

If Southwood got injured we could bring a keeper in on emergency loan or revisit in the January window.......For what it is worth i do not see us getting out of this Division with Southwood in goal

Agree on this. I expect Southwood to be number 2 next season. Albeit probably the best number 2 in the division.

Maybe have this printed on the shirt fronts of each relevant player until they find a new club.

But if the advert is seen, they must be playing!

I find the initial statement bizarre.

I'd like to think a promotion side isn't so beholden to a keeper, and that it would be more a sum of its parts.

Without wishing to sound callous, for me, it’s like a new chapter. Recognising the contributions of those players, especially Santos and Jones, we had become stale.

We’ve now changed the manager and the backroom staff. A new Sporting Director will shortly be in post. And we’re now starting to revitalise the playing staff.

Optimism is my overriding emotion.

Funnily enough I’d agree for every other position on the pitch, except keeper. I think we are vulnerable with Southwood in goal. He’s good with his feet, agile, and has plenty of qualities. I do worry against the more physical ‘balls in the box’ type teams that he may be exposed.

Time will tell I guess.

I never feel like having two 'number 1's' benefits teams when they start chopping and changing.

But, SS has clearly known for a while that he didn't want Baxter and he still started him over Southwood.
