Putin is just testing NATO, Russia have always flown aircraft close but they are getting bolder for sure.

Militarily they are a million miles behind NATO but they have nukes and that's the only reason they haven't had their arses handed to them in Ukraine.

The bigger issue is China IMO and their spreading influence globally.

No

Probably not but there is a chance if someone really oversteps the mark.

It will come eventually - just down to population and resources reasons. Hitler used the word 'lebensraum'. Looks like Putin is a fan of the word.

Don't think we have anything to worry about in the immediate future other than posturing of this type

Agree with all of that

China is a worry. I think they are more likely to go for Taiwan than Putin to start properly against NATO

Trump has prevented an amount of aid scheduled to go to Taiwan.

From what I understand, it's not all of it, just some.

A fair question. Enough to have valuable mineral resources beneath it.

I think you're right to be concerned, if everyone went along thinking it will never happen, the probability of it actually happening increases.

Both previous world wars occurred after periods of international tension, increased nationalism and big increases in military spending. Both conflicts were started by relatively minor terrorist incidents, a shooting in Sarajevo and a bombing in a Polish railway station, neither of which merited all out war but acted as catalysts... we must be on our guard and try to learn from history.

Looks to me that the Russians are attempting to stretch the Nato eastern border resources so less is concentrated in the Ukraine region for whatever reason, Putin knows the US is reluctant to fully commit while there are Russian sympathisers in the Nato camp in the form of Slovakia, Hungary and Turkey.

As I said earlier we need to tread very carefully...

There’s plenty of folk who think Putin has a point.

At the risk of my record being stuck, the older he gets the more dangerous he becomes. He wants the USSR back, and if he feels time is getting short he will throw any caution to the wind.

I would t want to be in the Baltic states for the next year or two.

I'll bet everyone in here a reach round that we will be in some form of proper conflict this time next year.

Its this Coallitiin of the Willing that frightens me the most, too similar to the Ango Polish Alliance which finally dragged us into WW2.

Signing up to agreements in a war threatened Eastern Europe is very risky.

China goes for Taiwan at the same time as Russia goes for a couple de grace in Ukraine... Whoosh!

Hopefully just fantasising. I wonder what the Pentagon war gamers are planning?

China won't make a move for Taiwan as long as the US relies on Taiwan for semiconductors

Yep

We’ll have boots on the ground in or around Estonia.

And this won’t be like taking easy potshots at ragheads in Toyota pickups either. Russia have actual weapons, and fucking oodles of men.

Eastern Europe is the world's political cesspit and was the root and main location of both world wars.

Like effing numpties we'll sign up to everything and all it will take is one single bombing or shooting act by a nationalistic hot head from the periphery...just like before.

Eventually, Russian incursions into nato airspace will end with a Russian jet being shot down.

Thatll be it then.

Happened once in Turkey but things weren't as on edge then, Turkey were/are closet Russian allies.

The real biggie would be if a Nato aircraft was downed in disputed airspace

Bloody ii tier counting systems if you ask me.
