Old Age !

Half way through a holiday so squabbling about sit that does not matter.

So, at what age do you become middle age, and then at what age do you become old age ?

Not looking for any legal definition just at what age does someone become an old cunt ?

I think the answer differs based on your own age

When you talk about females, I invariably can’t help but picture you chasing some around like Benny hill.

Old, to me is probably 70, and that's when you should lose your driving licence and voting rights 😏

Bollocks, I'm 70 next time and still go out to work, pay tax and fly aeroplanes.

I have pensions but I need to keep occupied, I complete a Times 2 Jumbo crossword every morning over a coffee... I buy volumes of 60 puzzles. The brain is a muscle and needs to be used.

The young uns at work beat me hands down on the latest software but I know how buildings fit together.

I consider myself fortunate and privileged to be in good health.

Nope. You should be locked in an old peoples home, and kept away from society. You've done your time, you deserve the rest. 😘

I’m over 70 now. All I need in the bedroom is someone to pass me my brew and pick my book up off the floor when I’ve nodded off halfway through Father Brown.

Fucking hell this is a depressing read

Am 50 in 18 months

Fuck

Testosterone plays such a massive and often undervalued part of blokes all of a sudden feeling old, more tired, more flat, less energy, less strength etc.

It's really not spoken about enough.

The drop from your late 30s to mid 40s is ridiculous.

Every man should be offered TRT consultancy and threshold for treatment much much higher than it already is.

Lads going down the pan in their 40s is so common now, lack of Testosterone or the drop as such leads to so many problems from sex drive to bad sleep, irritability, depression etc.

Why blokes start lurching for dopamine hits to replace it.

I was in an old folks home last week... we are repairing the fire doors and I was checking in on the lads.

"Where's the contracts manager?" someone asked... I was down in the common room with the old dears drinking tea and singing along in the karaoke 😁

I probably do need locking up...

When I finally finished (at 69) they said “you won’t know what to do with your time”.

Well a little ginger dog two days a week, and mowing a bowling green twice a week and bowling three times a week (in the summer)and the match and the pub and a workmate who adopted me as her granddad keep me on my toes.

Not to mention Mrs Fogarty and her troubles.

Ignorant bullshit.

It's called medical science.

99% of work stuff I do not miss, a little bit of the banter but far out weighed by the bullshit and early mornings.

I get up when I want. Walk the dog. Other than that I choose what to do every day (or the missus does). We spend a lot of time together but we also have our own interests that we do separately. I put a bit more effort into being in touch with mates from school, Uni etc

Some days I choose to do fuck all others I will plan something. For all the advice you can get imo the biggest thing is being happy with yourself and your own company. We had a death in the family and I promised him I would get a check up at doctors, no real issues but losing some weight would help so have about a stone and half. (Although after a week away let’s see on Sunday)

I am very lucky that I do not need to work

Not sure it is that different, what Dimron is talking about doing is stuff that will boost all the good stuff that helps your body and your mind and it becomes a virtuous circle. The downside is the opposite can apply and it is hard to break out of the downward cycle. My biggest boost is currently away days as we have such a good laugh. Social Media especially Twitter was the opposite so I chose to come off it.

I started this thead off about age and being boring but the reality is that if @miami organised another sportsman’s doubt I would jumping on a street cleaning van at 7 the next morning to go the pub. But watching ACD slot a winner at Huddersfield with my mate and our combined 3 kids is just as memorable.

Of course exercise, diet and stimulation helps.

But to discount the science behind why men fall off a cliff in their middle life is ridiculous.

It's not all in the mind whatsoever.

Like telling a woman who's going through the Change to just start collecting model train sets and all will be ok :)

I tried that one and a pair of scissors flashed past my head.... not recommended.

As I said, I consider myself privileged to be in good physical and mental health, I do get off days but my optimism always seems to pull me through (plus a 4 pack of draught Guinness).

I'm like a little Jack Russell... a right pain in the arse that keeps going on and on... until one day I'll just keel over!

Off for a two mile walk over the field now in my lunchbreak

Aye must admit at the grand old age of 41 my raving days are coming to an end.

Especially night time ones.

You need to just be more selective. Plenty of years left in the raving pot yet.

I think it's residents only, so buy a mansion down there and use that address.

Also - Free drugs on the NHS!!

Statins / Beta blockers / blood pressure / blood thinners / diabetes are my other 5 a day

I knew about free prescriptions but still do not understand why they start at 60. So far not needed them.

how old is the youngest poster on here?

I presume all the kids (under 30s) are on Facebook groups and don't even know what a forum is

will be surprised if there's anyone here under 30

My gaffer of 20 years retired about 18 months ago, aged 63. Spoke to him one day last week and he kept repeating himself every 5 minutes. Literally repeating the same story as though we hadn't discussed it a few minutes earlier. Also slurring his words a bit. The next day he sent me a message asking how I was, and saying we were overdue for a catch-up... I'm hoping he's just hit the bottle for a bit (it was midday when I spoke to him) rather than some sinister cognitive issue, because it reminded me of talking to my 84 year old mother-in-law who's in the early stages of dementia. ☹️
