Away Form

I didn't realise how bad it was tbh.

It's beginning to be of concern even for the most ardent happy clappers...

Home form....

  • Aye - it’s not good. I’m hoping Dempsey, Erhahon and Simons can go some way in helping us address this. We do, we go up.

I feel sorry for lads who do away games with me. Every game ‘the fucking 2 in midfield does not work.’

We have played well in some away games but equally 4 of those points have come from injury time goals, 1 at Orient and 3 at Huddersfield

You get the same number of points for injury time goals though!! and one hell of a buzz

Only one table worth looking at

Looking better today with that gap beneath but shows why we need to get more points on the road if we want that second spot

Cardiff look like they're going to grind out their way to the title

We can blow teams away at home on day

We need to find our way on the road

Because we won't win every home game

3 points of autos in December and top of the form table.

2nd best goal difference. 2nd most goals scored and 2nd least conceded.

Unbeaten at home and smashed Wigan along the way.

We'd have all taken that in August.

And a run of 6 games now where we really should be picking up 13-15 points

(I know it’s not as simple as that but it’s as favourable a run of fixtures as you’re going to get)

I'd be happy with a point at Wycombe but really should be looking to win the rest

To be fair, that’s how I saw it and I think we will - I just thought there might be a fuck up somewhere (Donny away?) and so putting 16 points was a bit punchy.

Saying that, we then go into a run of 3 tough away games at Posh, Wigan and Stevenage so we could really do with getting a good amount in the next 6.

Can we say this isn’t an issue now?

Last 6 games.

Won 3

Drawn 3

5th best in the league

Bummer.

Oh aye, I don’t dispute there’s better and fair play to Lincoln, they look untouchable at the moment, home and away.

But the point I’m making is that it’s a good turnaround from last year. It was looking like a real issue.

Do you think it is now?

Aye, I know what your point is.

Just being somewhat facetious.

Unfortunately, is doesn't appear likely to be enough for direct promotion, so just have to keep at it home and away to be there just in case.

Results at Bradford and Cardiff would give them a massive boost going into the playoffs.

Play offs are always a bit of a lottery too, irrespective of form.

Crikey- 5 of those 18 goals came today!

Yep. Goals have been our problem. But it’s the defence everyone wants to pick apart. The defence has generally secured the points that our attackers were failing to secure

We are so hard to read aren’t we.

Our attack have looked pretty good all season but (until today) just can’t click and put our chances away.

Our defence, to watch at every week, doesn’t look great and we can be highly critical week on week, yet have one of the best records in the league 😂

You’re absolutely right.

I come away from games thinking we teams score against us with almost every chance they have, but we take a million chances to score. As ever with extremes, the answer is somewhere in the middle.

We limit good chances because we generally defend well. Not just the back 4.  But as a team.

However I do think we have a few issues resulting in our team that sees us concede more goal than the xG against us suggests (and less goals for that our xG suggests at the other end). What that is, I’m not sure. There’ll be additional data to deep dive into, but I can’t be arsed doing that. I trust my eyes and my eyes tell me the defence is ‘alright’ 😉

5th best in the league now, so yeah definitely turned it around.

Fairplay to them.

Huge ask, but wins at Bradford and Cardiff would be fantastic and we'd all be confident come the playoffs.

As a previous post, Cardiff could be up by then, although unlikely, which could see them on the beach.

Let's win at Rotherham, Port Vale and Plymouth first!
