Ok. We've still only lost 3 out of 8 this season. Probably not promotion form as it stands, but we're not even halfway through yet.

And that's why it's an issue

As you also just pointed out, Cardiff are top because they've won 3 more games than us, not because they've lost one less than us

Yes, we have time to improve

But it has to start sooner rather than later in terms in terms of automatic promotion

Ideally tomorrow

Because there's potentially 4 teams can go above us if we don't get a win

It’s not about losses, really. A team could go unbeaten all seasons and end up with 46 points. It’s about points on the board.

Given that some have played 9, others 8, it’s more about PPG.  There’s only 4 teams worse than us on PPG and for a team aiming for top 6 (minimum) that really is a concern.

It's a concern, but all this talk of us simply collapsing every time we play away simply isn't true. We've played well enough to win most of them, we just haven't had the rub of the green. We'd have been on 2 Away wins if it hadn't been for Simons' harsh sending off last week for example. These things happen in football. It will even itself out.

Disregard cup games, think its an area to work on, but lots making out it's the end of the world etc.

Bolton fans love something to whinge at

Aye I'd be concerned if we were getting routinely beaten or outplayed.

There's a good 3-4 games were by far the best team and were unlucky not to come away with 3 points.

Good job we are insatiable at home.

It'll happen. The bookies still have us 2nd faves. I'd trust their odds over professional wingebags and wind up merchants like @L/H Whiteand his gang of slugs any day of the week.

Aye

We just need to show it asap as we could be 3rd or 10th after tonight which is why sorting out our away form is key to getting promoted

Think back to our promotion winning seasons. They were littered with big away wins. Southend and Vale under parky, Ipswich and Norwich two weeks running even further back etc.

Bag a few of them and we go up.

At nearly the halfway point?

We are 2nd faves for a reason. Bang in form, unbeaten at home but draw way too many away.

You had Liverpool favs to win the quad 3 months ago BTW.

What is it they say about continuing to do the same thing and hoping for a different outcome ?

We have played well in some away games so the ‘unlucky’ point has some legs, but 4 of the points we have won have come from goals injury time, so equally we could be worse of.

Early season every other shot was going in, Orient Blackpool and Barnsley all 1-1 draws with a combined 5 SOT conceded. It was freakish. The keeper seems to have improved (hope that does not curse him tonight) so that side of things should be better and we have 4 points from last 2 away games, Luton and Huddersfield looked like tough games too.

But it is against the well organised hard working mid table teams , like Mansfield were it has gone wrong for what seems like years now, we were outplayed at both Burton and Northampton in the end after missing very good chances to go ahead. It seems obvious to drop an extra midfield player in especially as the 9 and 10 in current system away from home are hardly involved.

We certainly should not just be hoping they have a load on injuries and do not turn up. 😂😂

When have we been by far the best team away?  I say this as someone who hasn't watched every game, I saw virtually nothing of Blackpool and Orient (what a goal BTW).

We were the best team in large parts of the Blackpool and Orient games imo. Type of game we had all fur coat and no knickers.

Controlled the game at Stockport too just couldn't create anything proper.

It's such a small market that small fan stakes make a big difference to odds. We're probably the favourites because we have more fans in the division willing to put tenner on us to go up than any other team

Up to 13th now in the away table - win at Wycombe this stops being “an issue” or a “problem” we need to address, we’ll be on a very good away trend.

Interesting also to see that when you look at the 5, 10, 15 game form table we are 2nd only to Cardiff each time.

Re bookies odds: Bookies always shorten the odds on the best supported teams as statistically they are likely to get more fan bets on them which equals risk. That’s why you see massively different odds in different countries for international games especially England who get bigged up massively in the UK but much longer odds elsewhere. We are well supported as this league goes so naturally we get shorter odds.

Re Away form table: I struggle to understand how basic sports psychology fails to deal with any perceived disadvantage, especially in our case where our team is very well supported away from home anyway. Different pitches and travel may have some impact but ultimately it’s about churning out good performances 11 v 11 and professionals should be able to focus on that. I think our away problems have stemmed from lapses in concentration and the fact that this league, this year is very tight indeed and any team can beat any other on their day. Ultimately it’s our performances.

More over analysis, this time complicating bookies odds.

If we are 2nd in the 5, 10, 15 game form table, we’ve beaten the league leaders, we’ve a healthy goal-difference, and we are a well-resourced, big club for this division, why wouldn’t we be 2nd favourites?
