2026 Holidays

Where’s everyone off to?

I’m off to Antigua on a @Traftour on Saturday for a week. Early January is now my favourite time to get away for the “big” holiday of the year.

Thinking of Porec in Croatia for a week in June but nowt else planned other than a drive around Ireland to finally spread the MiL’s ashes

Like to hear where you good folk are planning as it’s inspired me in the past

Not a holiday, but a weekend away for my last year of my 30s. Belfast is full of old man pubs and I’m in my fucking element 😍

All I can say is Auschwitz was fucking horrific but I can say I am glad I went. The salt mines were OK, not really my bag to be honest. Krakow itself is fabulous and good value, love it here

Thinking of Lille this summer - anyone been - looks a great city for teens.

We went a few years back for the Athletics.  It's a lovely town square and train station with plenty of good eating places but I'm not sure if there's much to occupy you beyond a long weekend.

🙂 Cavills steakhouse nearby is supposed to be good but guess your future SIL dad will have a plan for grub.

I'll see if we can pay a visit, we're there for 10 days, so food suggestions are always good.

Steakhouse is a good shout as my auntie and uncle have already moved their accommodation from a Chinese area as they don't like foreign food. 😆

Well there's a few things that seem good, Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille and La Piscine Musee in Roubaix, Cathedral in Amiens, good shopping (basically French Westfield which for the teens is ideal) and its a quick hop over to Bruges or Tournai. They dont want to do beach stuff this year. Plus its really bloody close 😁

Thinking of a Gite just outside and then a couple of nights in Paris.

Was feeling relaxed that got direct flights to Sri Lanka today. Now reading there is fuel rationing , which is nice with tour of island.

Luckily the tour guide has a diesel minivan. Queues are miles long for petrol for the scooters and tuk-tuks, but diesel not so bad.

Country really struggling with petrol gone up 200% in a week and tourists numbers down by over 50%

Had a lovely meal and day out in Boulogne yesterday - one of the benefits of being down here is cheap day trips.

I've been over a couple of times, drive over on a Saturday, stay over, drive back Sunday.

It's a great town, I really like it. The "Vole Hole" is a favourite drinking establishment of mine.

Yeah we did the same - totally pointless - everything was shut. Think it was just a free booze crusie for teachers.

Saw that place yesterday. Had lunch in Cafe Jules as it had stuff for the kids as as well as fish dishes which is what we wanted - want to go to Le Chatillon next time we pop over. Got there for the morning market, lunch, wander round the Notre Dame Basillica to see where Edward II married Isabelle of France (teens bored) wine pick up and back home for 9.30.

Anyone down for Good Friday there will be an overnight sailing to Brittany and returns available Sunday or Monday. Some amazing coastline and seafood

Never mind. It was me mocking my own (and no doubt lots of other pupils) visit to Boulogne attempting to use rudimentary French.

Last day of a short break in Sitges today. If you don’t mind the mild bumchuffery that goes on it’s a thumbs up from me. Food and drink is half the price of Barcelona and is superb. Second time @Traf has got us a good deal. Reckon this will be one of my go to places when I jack work in

You could have gone to that other hotel where the bumchuffery was more than mild 😉

Sardinia. I’d come back here. Didn’t fancy throwing patio furniture around in Cagliari so came to the north of the island. Big step back in time but very chilled

We’ll be flying to Bergamo in August. Doing northern Italy and it’s the most convenient airport for us. Nice little town as well and good for exploring the area. Lakes, Verona, Milan etc.👍

Yeah, I've been about 10 years ago. It was lovely. Like you said good for exploring other places. We're looking at doing a wine tour....

Starting to think about plan B and possibly doing the Italy backpack tour originally planned.

The middle east is still dodgy with Israel/Iran so a flight via Dubai isn't covered by insurance and alternative flights via Istanbul or elsewhere to Maldives are stupid expensive.

Did Abersoch last weekend. stunning and as pricey as ever. Kids enjoyed spotting premier leagues legends which there were a few of. It really is one big dick swinging competition down there though, whos got the biggest car/chalet/tits and lips.

Were you the biggest tit?........ 😁
