Broke my heart looking at the kids clothing on display

The thing about Auschwitz for me

You go round, you see how utterly grim it was

Then you go up the road to Birkenau and see it on an "industrial" scale

Proper haunting

And there's folk out there who deny it

The huge display of hair is when it really hit home for me, it made me feel physically sick. Then the one of kids shoes and clothes and I was holding it all in, by the end I was completely numb to be honest. I think as it was full of snow and very cold made it all the more bleak.

Then onto Birkenau and the sheer size of the place and how they industrialised the mass murder of so many people was haunting indeed.

We went to the museum of illusions and hit the bars later that day to lift our mood.

Went when it was snowing and it definitely added something to mood of it all

Did like the Salt Mines though we booked it via a bloke who picked us up in the city centre in a minibus and proceeding to drive there at 100mph and nearly crashed around three times

Maybe the peace of it all afterwards made it all the better

Just got back from New York Saturday morning.....massive snow storms have now grounded every flight, I've touched lucky with the weather for last week!!

Unreal city is NYC......but was so disappointed with the food, its utter tripe, processed greasy garbage, its been waaaay over-hyped by mid-twenty, 'content creator' tarts who rate everything 10/10m that have never had good food.

It looks like you flew back at just the right time

You should have tried a Trump burger. They’ve had rave reviews from some quarters on here….

Hell yes. The Best about.

Just booked Dubai for Mid July, 🥵my pasty missus and kids are going to frazzle! A weeks all inclusive cheaper than similar hotels in Spain and Turkey!

Full of immigrants and Muslims there mate 😉

We’re flying into Dubai on the way to Thailand in April. Kids wanted to fly Emirates A380 so decided to go that way. Was looking to stay a few days in Dubai, but the missus wanted to go to a different Thai island for an extra few days of holiday instead. 18 days in total in Koh Samui, Kaoh Lak then a few days in BKK to finish (with enough room in the cases for some dodgy footy kits for the kids and maybe a snidey stoney for the away days 😬)

That water festival while we’re there too, which should be fun. But knowing my luck, I’ll get hit by a Russian spraying hydrochloric acid into my mince pies

We did the water festival last year…..manic but brilliant. The missus hated it and lasted about 48 seconds before staying in the hotel for 3 days. Me and the 2 other eldest lads loved it along with 60 odd others that were there with us….Ruskis didn’t  stand a chance.

First time I went, I flew back on 7/11

Went up the towers on 2/11

In a morbid way would like to have been then another week though night life might've been shit

Not exactly holiday but travel related. Just spent 8 days flitting between Singapore and Johor Baru. Those who have spent time in Sing are likely to know about Lau Pa Sat Hawkers Centre so don't need my recommendations. My favourite dish (black pepper mud crab) is $33 there and $150 in the seafood restaurants so definitely the place to eat if you are spending any time there.

The reason for posting here is that I didn't know where else to comment about folk walking round in replica football shirts in 'foreign' countries. Over the entire stay saw one Liverpool and two DMB's. Bayern Munich and the German national shirt lost count. Must have been 50+ combined so wondered if they must have got a massive job lot over there or there is some reason for Singaporean Bayern fans?

Thought I'd just google before posting this. As you were. I now know why.

Was feeling relaxed that got direct flights to Sri Lanka today. Now reading there is fuel rationing , which is nice with tour of island.

edit: thinly veiled don’t come asking me pub questions before Good Friday. I have replied to DM which can be shared. Missing three games seemed a good idea when booked holiday in November

Thinking of Lille this summer - anyone been - looks a great city for teens.

Not much help but went in the 90s

There was a zoo that had a monkey called Hubert that was the star performer

I suspect he's dead now

But going off the place it would have taken a lot to make it decent

Lens is even worse, and Lens and Lille hate each over at footy

Anyone been to Kuala Lumpur? Any advice?

Got a week there on our way over to by brother's wedding on the Gold Coast.

Batu Caves are a must, and it's worth going up Petronas Towers and the KL Tower. Unfortunately I was working when I visited, so there's probably shit loads more to do. Absolutely loved it, and the locals are spot on. I was there over New Year 2018 and the city centre was absolutely rammed, but there wasn't a single spot of bother (probably because they're all teetotal Muslims). You're guaranteed to get the shits though. It helped having a driver to ferry us about because the traffic is fucking mental (you'll see entire families all crammed on to one scooter), but the monorail system looked modern and decent, though we never needed to use it.
