Ann Widdecombe

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere, RIP Ms Widdecombe, a character of politics, no 78 year old woman deserves to suffer the horrendous death she apparently suffered, I met her when she was prison minister and she was very staff orientated but also campaigned for prisoners to be treated fairly

if I told a racist joke, homophobic joke, antisemitic joke or Islamophobic joke. Is it ok now? If someone complained, would they be a self righteous fanny?

Or is it just ok to laugh about a right wing politician beaten to death by a bloke with a hammer.

It’s important to understand what is acceptable by decent people and what isn’t. The comments earlier on this thread seem to have been ignored.

I’m happy to be called self righteous if it means calling out people with obvious prejudiced views. Not happy with the fanny bit though. That’s just infantile name calling.

Fucking hell Boby. It's dark humour. The English are famed for it. Or at least we used to be. It's how we deal with and process things.

And if you really want to tell a racist/homophobic/anti-Semitic joke then be my guest. If I think it's funny, I'll give it a like, if I don't I won't.

And prejudiced views? 😁 Fuck me! 🤣 Stop getting your knickers in a twist and making it out to be something it's not.

And yes I do think you are being a fanny. A big hairy one! 😁

Ah a Wanderersways Friday night tiff . Missed these 🥲

She isn't now.

Yep. A massive one. It's a football forum. Not her bloody wake. Lighten up a bit!

Really? I don't recall you displaying such levity at the equally obnoxious death of Jo Cox.

Those fucking red tinged specs are a bastard aren't they?

I never cease to be amused that the 'side' keen on screeching 'ist' words and overt virtue signalling repeatedly displays all of the qualities they purportedly despise.

There is truth in this.

It just seems that there is a deeper pleasure and satisfaction for some on here in this particular case than just dealing with a tragedy.

You still going on about that fucking sentence 😂😂😂

I’m not sticking up for Cheese. Think it’s daft as fuck the way he goes about calling everyone racist. See my response to him saying it to Athy.

It’s also daft as fuck thinking he’s happy with the way that lass was murdered.

Simple as.

Keep papping on about it as much as you like though.

Surely you’re not this thick? Get that sentence out of Your head. I’ve told you in the last 3 posts it’s nothing to do with that.

I remember the debate on here about people taking offence at jokes and the vast majority taking the Ricky Gervais viewpoint that a joke is a joke and should not be treated as offensive. If you get offended by a joke it seemed you were woke.

I argued that some subjects are going to offend some people wether positioned as jokes or not, the Bradford fire if you are in Bradford or Hillsborough if you are scouse for instance.

Anyone happy about someone being murdered needs to give their head a wobble.

Simple as.

The thing is, it wasn’t a joke. It was a meme poking fun at the way she was killed. I actually said, if they found mirth in it, fine. I obviously don’t.

Anyway, I’m happy to die on that hill and accept my self righteous fanny title. 👍

No doubt delivered in a flowered shirt with a spliff in the corner of the mouth, banging a tambourine, wearing a CND bandana and rainbow striped cowboy boots.

Gentlemen, I give you Queensland.

Not sure what the difference is that you are trying to make ? A meme that is trying to be funny is still a joke.

My opinion was back then that excusing something because it is a ‘joke’ in whatever sense does not work. Some people will be genuinely offended, some people will fake outrage.

You can also point out something is distasteful without being offended or arguing against free speech. Doesn’t make you woke either.

I’ve nothing against comedians doing it. But I think if you’re posting stuff online & you’ve a platform, then you’re accepting that the victims might see it. Comedians have to live with that too.

Folk can joke about what they want. But it’s each to their own. I’ve a fairly dry sense of humour & like to see the funny side in most things. I’m just not going to find it funny when people joke about an old lady being a horrifically murdered a week ago.

Just like I don’t really see the funny side in those kids being murdered in Southport, or Hillsborough, or the Holocaust.

If that kind of stuff that tickles you then crack on and make as many jokes as you want. Nobody is stopping you.

Just don’t label someone woke if they didn’t laugh.

We’ve established what Cheese really thought & you’re on some mad Whataboutery crusade about a few missing words 😂

You need to learn when to move on mate. You made your point 3 posts ago.

Not a cat in hell's chance I'm taking lectures on bad taste jokes from a man with your track history! 😁

I don't even remember ever passing any sort of comment one way or another about Jo Cox's death. Or David Amess. Or Ann Widdecombe (other than to say it was awful).

But like Boby - if you want to post a joke about the former two - be my guest - and if I think it's funny I'll laugh at it. If I don't I won't. I don't need another self righteous arbiter of what I can and can't find amusing.

I always thought you and Boby be a bit more thick skinned than this? And a bit less inclined toqards faux outrage.
