Javier Saviola's agent Alfredo Kamprera has claimed Arsenal and Bolton are interested in signing the Argentina striker.

 

Saviola is surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp - having spent the last two seasons out on loan at Monaco and Sevilla.

 

However, after some impressive displays for Argentina in Germany he's still a wanted man in the transfer market and has attracted interest from a host of sides across Europe, including PSV Eindhoven.

 

However, Kamprera insists the 25-year-old will only consider Spain or England as possible destinations, with Greek side Panathinaikos also expressing an interest.

 

"There is a proposal from Panathinaikos, as there are from other teams. One of them is Arsenal, while there is also interest from Bolton," Kamprera told Greek sports daily Sport Day.

 

"Our priority is for Javier to remain in Spain or go to England, because he is interested in the quality of the football.

 

According to Barcelona daily El Mundo, the European champions want more than ??4million for Saviola, despite his contract only having one more year to run.

 

The paper reports PSV are already in negotiations with Saviola, so Arsene Wenger or Sam Allardyce will have to move quickly to land their target.

Ok I'm gonna stick my neck out here and say

The World Cup has done us no favours of course and that will cost us more but I think the lad needs to choose his next club very carefully. . .

 

He needs to re-establish himself in club football and with us it's guaranteed start, premiership football, a decent wage [ Johnson's would have been!!!] with a club in and around European places.

 

I await with interest for more info but refuse to dismiss our chances on this one.

I believe Vaz, Diouf, Davies and Borg are all better than Roberts so he was a definite no-go for me.

 

Hamann was pointless when campo re-signed.

 

We probably backup at: centre half, centre midfield, holding player and full backs either side.

 

Other than that, no point signing anything that isn't a marked improvement on what we have

the johnson deal was the worst deal for a long time the man is good in div 1 and will flop in the prem, is salary and transfer fee were scandalous, regarding saviola i have no problems with us going for him and sam has to be applauded, but we also need squad players who are not neccasarily massive names but can do a good job.

Unlikely that we'll sign him perhaps and the hard bit will be convincing him to come.

 

But this isn't speculation - we've obviously enquired.

 

So Sam can say to him - listen Javier you'll be the star man and we'll base our whole front line around you.

 

The financial package would be similar to Johnson but with the added bonus of improving our marketing profile in South America.
