Bolton chasing Saviola

If only we had Europe to help us attract the high quality players. #-o

With Europe our club looks 10 times more attractive and I think if we had europe to offer them next season we would have already got 3 or 4 signings,

one of which would be Johnson, who whether you wanted him or not would have been our most ambitious and possibly best signing.

Europe didn't help last year did it?

brilliant player, but im affraid the only thing we can offer him is premiership first team football and...the number 10shirt. get him signed :D/

whats the point buying class players when he plays the long ball game.

and one up front.

we saw what happened with england .

boring and to predictable .

be nice to go back to two up front and wingers and attacking football .

some how i doubt allardyce will ever change his system. [-o<

I didn't see us going after any big name signings?

Saviola is pure class.. unfortunately it will be the old "small club" syndrom that will f??ck the deal.

Arsenal wll get him if they want him

we are banging our head against a ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Don't be so negative. Arsenal will get him if they want him but they have won numerous trophies over the last 10 years, have used their wealth to become bigger with a great new stadium, and so have earned their right to be first in the queue for high profile players.

However, it is between us and Panathinaikos if they don't want him, and we should be first in that race. Regardless of whether we get him the only way we can sign these players is to keep going for them by paying the transfer fees and the wages. The fact that we are prepared do that is a major step forward and the club should be congratulated.

Rumour has it that Saviola is an aficianado of Carrs Pasties.

A case of those a week should swing the deal.

sadly, too many get their kicks out of being cynical

If Sam is genuinely chasing Saviola, I reckon there's a good chance he'll come. It'll be the lack of UEFA action that will be a stumbling block, not the little Bolton shite.

Top 8, 3 times in a row

Signings of N'Gotty, Djorkaeff, Campo, Bobic, Okocha, Jardel, Hierro, Borgetti, Candela, Nakata

This is the sign of a club with ambition. Whether the signings worked out or not is irrelevant: they show our ambition.

Let's get Savi!

traf ya c??nt, i like the cut of your jib (or sommit like that)

onward a upward, stop moaning ya bastards.

Sorry to disappoint you, Homer, but I prefer girls.

I agree, people forget 'small' clubs in Italy and Spain attract players.

Villareal are tiny, and they have Riquelme!!!

If you are in the top league, and have the ??????'s to pay the wages, you CAN sign the big name players.

Unless you are Middlesborough, and who can blame them for not wanting to go there :D

Unlikely that we'll sign him perhaps and the hard bit will be convincing him to come.

But this isn't speculation - we've obviously enquired.

So Sam can say to him - listen Javier you'll be the star man and we'll base our whole front line around you.

The financial package would be similar to Johnson but with the added bonus of improving our marketing profile in South America.

At Arsenal, he'll just be another squad player.

Squad player or not Arsenal could still offer a bigger financial package and unfortunately most players are money driven now. Also big players who come to the prem for the first time tend to be attracted to the London clubs anyway.

Is he going to displace Thierry Henri? No, thought not,

So he'll want to sit on a bench in London instead of Spain or Italy? No, thought not.

Unlikely that we'll sign him perhaps and the hard bit will be convincing him to come.

i am pretty sure we can match wages that arsenal can, they are mortgage up to the hilt and more with the new ground and have just spent a fortune on wages for Henry, whereas we have released two of our biggest wage earners and bought no one, but if it comes down to it arsenal with european football, new stadium and a guaranteed top 4 finish, will get him if they want him.

Unlikely that we'll sign him perhaps and the hard bit will be convincing him to come.

Am I talking about him going to Spain or Italy? No, thought not.

My point is that if he comes to the Premiership he would more likely go to Arsenal over Bolton regadless if he would be sitting on the bench, for the reasons I've already stated.

Unlikely that we'll sign him perhaps and the hard bit will be convincing him to come.

It might sometimes seem like it, but Henry isn't the only player at Arsenal. I'm sure Saviola would fancy his chances of playing ahead of the likes of Bergkamp, Reyes, Adebayor and van Persie.

Oh, and Walcott!

Unlikely that we'll sign him perhaps and the hard bit will be convincing him to come.

I'd fancy my chances ahead of bergkamp he's retired! :-$

You take my point, though?

There's more chance of us signing Peter Beagrie than Saviola.

There's more of us signing Peter Beagrie than Saviola.

Why, how many of us are signing Peter Beagrie?

Me, for one. Which is probably more than will be signing Saviola unfortunately.

Beagrie's going to teach me to back-flip.

  • 2 weeks later...

Saviola won't fit into our style of play. He scores goals from open play and by taking on defenders. He'd be a great friend of Borg, doing crosswords on the bench while Vaz falls over, Nolan takes on the opposition single handed and Kev waits with his back to goal for Henrik to pass the ball to him.

:-) :^o :-)
