From t'official site: NICOLAS ANELKA will become Bolton Wanderers' record signing when Sam Allardyce agreed to pay ??8 million to Turkish club Fenerbahce for the France international's services. Anelka, who has 31 caps for France, has penned a four-year deal with the Wanderers after successfully completing a medical at the Club's training HQ at Euxton on Thursday. A delighted Sam Allardyce said: "Patience is a virtue, and I am pleased to say that all the waiting and hard-work we've done behind the scenes has paid off. "Nicolas is a player with an amazing track record in the Premiership; he was born to score goals. His talent and experience will be a valuable asset for us. "I'd also like to thank Eddie Davies (Club owner) and our Chairman Phil Gartside. It's an unprecedented amount of money for Bolton Wanderers to spend and fully underlines the Club's ambition." The Versailles born star came up through the youth ranks of Paris Saint Germain before starting his love affair with English football - by joining Arsenal - as a 17 year-old. He broke into the Gunners' first-team in the 1997/1998 season and was a key figure in the North London club's league and cup double. He scored the Gunners' second goal in a 2-0 FA Cup final victory against Newcastle United. His blistering pace and finishing prowess saw him pick up the PFA Young Player of the Year award in the 1998/1999 season. In the summer of 1999, Real Madrid dispensed with ??22.3 million for the Frenchman's services. He spent just one season in Spain before returning to his first club Paris Saint Germain. After a season in his homeland, he returned to the Premiership with Liverpool, where he spent a period on loan, netting four goals in 20 appearances. The Reds didn't take up an option to sign him permanently and instead Manchester City boss Kevin Keegan paid a club record ??12 million for him. In his three seasons with the Manchester club, Anelka netted 38 goals in just 89 games before he opted to join the Turkish giants Fenerbahce. The 27-year-old frontman will travel to London with Big Sam on Friday, when he will meet up with the Whites contingent at their London base ahead of this weekend's game against Charlton Athletic at The Valley.
August 24, 200619 yr So i guess this means a change in tactics then? It means that the town hall steps will be full of arses being shown...
August 24, 200619 yr Great signing! I hope Sam moves for Saviola as well. I hope the signings don't stop there. We need more players coming in. Absolutely brilliant.

August 24, 200619 yr why sign him for four years when most of us knows he wont be here in two years time
August 24, 200619 yr I just hope when i wake up I don't find out he's gone and signed for city from us...
August 24, 200619 yr why sign him for four years when most of us knows he wont be here in two years time Because if he has gone in two years we will still get a fee. However, let's just enjoy the moment for a bit eh?
August 24, 200619 yr why sign him for four years when most of us knows he wont be here in two years time Some people are never satisfied eh? Call yourself a fan, most of are jumping around the room like big kids at the news. Hope your missues has hidden the razor blades in your house.
August 24, 200619 yr Does anyone think we can still get Saviola? He'll only cost us 3 million pound . Imagine - Saviola and Anelka playing along side each other. Edited August 24, 200619 yr by xxxxxx

August 25, 200619 yr Back of the net! Im chuffed to bits. Sent a tingle down my spine when I heard the news on the BBC. Well done to the board for stumping up the cash. Top 6. Im taking deposits now for our UEFA campaign next year! If he can continue his goal scoring record as he did at City, top 6 is a definite. If any Manager can get the best out of him, its BIG SAM. Onwards and upwards. .........Im off to Amsterdam with the Mrs tomorrow.....am I going to have a good time now, too right!!! Edited August 25, 200619 yr by Supersyd
August 25, 200619 yr It's a fantastic signing for the club, although people will still claim we have no ambition. It will be interesting to see how we change the team formation to suit the inclusion of Anelka...............will he be the "1" in the 4-5-1, or will we finally change to 4-4-2? August 25, 200619 yr Does anyone think we can still get Saviola? He'll only cost us 3 million pound . Imagine - Saviola and Anelka playing along side each other. 'fraid not - Saviola is staying in Spain - he has a few options there. Think that's the end of the "spree", but we may get 1-2 free / small fee signings still. It's probably last chance saloon for Anelka in this country, so if he wants to attract a big 4 club, he needs to get those shooting boots on. Which suits us!
August 25, 200619 yr How about...4-4-2 against the shit teams (wigan etc) 4-5-1 against the big boys (we dont do too bad against them)
August 25, 200619 yr I think Sam hinted at a change in tactics if he had the right players in a conversation with George Graham during the televised match against Spurs. Anelka is a quality signing.

Which suits us! if the deal is 4 million this year and 4 million next year, that should give us scope to go for Malbranque, o.k.he wants a big club, but west ham are said to be in pole position with 2.5 million bid, blow em out of the water with a 4 million bid, and get him in. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/topstories/t...-name_page.html also interesting to read pompey made a late bid slimey bastards.
August 25, 200619 yr U Beauty. I feel like a kid in a sweet shop !! Can't wait to go to Charlton tomorrow.......
August 25, 200619 yr kin el, I am surprised, pleased but surprised. another 5 more as promised and I may get my ST back sam wanted 6 we have brought in Anelka, fortune, idan tal, meite, teymourian looks as though he will sign, thats five, come on jay c admit Missus C has put her foot down and she won't let you play out.
August 25, 200619 yr Brilliant news lets hope this frees Sam up to sort the other players he needs. They signed him for 4 years so if the bricks go out of the pram in the first 18 months there is no chance of him seeing out his contract and going on a free so if he leaves we get our money back.
August 25, 200619 yr How long before we see anelka linning up at left back, bags of pace so i wouldnt dismiss it!!! could this be sams new formation(attacking fullbacks)

Our offer to Palace for Johnson was payment in stages too (as opposed to Wigan's all up-front) - I dunno if this split payment for Anelka means we have cashflow for other players too, or if that's it for money upfront - we shall see in the next week... We still should have enough to pay decent wages with those that we've lost though.
