What would you do?

1- given a few good performances/results i think the crowds will come back. but one option would be to set up a supporters bar in the area of the ground, (like they do with the corporate bods) then have an area where all the supporters from this bar can sit together thus carrying the banter and the atmosphere into the stadium.

2-Catering could be improved with more staff eg one takes the order and your money whilst another gets your order together as they do at macdonalds, or get a fella in from macdonalds etc and see if they can do owt to improve the speed of service.

3-there's construction of a new exit road from the middlebrook started it'll come out by chortex mills on chorley new road but won't be open until the houses/flats are open in about 3 years or so!

4-IMHO bus and rail links cannot be improved anymore although the new exit road might help the buses a bit!

1) kiosk changes (mainly staff, but food and drink also)

2) ticket purchase (remove transaction fee, allow you to purchase ticket for seats you want)

3) promote the club (improve marketing, advertising etc to bring crowds back)

point 3 obviously is a massive thing and needs more thought.

1- Bring the crowds back MAKE IT EASIER TO BUY TICKETS, CARLOS HAS DETAILED HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO JUST TURN UP, MUST BE BETTER WAY TO DO THAT. FOR OTHER GAMES I HAVE SENT YOU A PM ABOUT TRYING TO BUY A TICKET FOR THE LIVERPOOL GAME, I KNOW THEY HAVE TO HAVE SOME CONTROLS BUT IT WAS SUCH A PAIN IN THE ARSE. THIS MAY BE A DESIRABLE GAME BUT TRYING TO GET A 8 YEAR FROM LEEDS TO WATCH BOLTON, MEANS STARTING WITH A BIG GAME THEN GRADUALLY SUBJECTING HIM TO THE TERROR OF WATFORD AT HOME.

2 - Improve catering NEVER BUY ANY SO CAN NOT SAY

3 - Improve traffic flow TO AVOID THE WORST OF THE TRAFFIC I HAVE BOUGHT A PASS FOR THE MAIN CAR PARK AND IT AINT TOO BAD, BUT IF THERE WAS SOMETHING TO DO BY THE GROUND AFTER THE GAME LIKE A PROPER CLUB BAR (OR BARS) IT WOULD GIVE PEOPLE THE OPTION.

4 - Improve bus and rail links - DO NT MOVE OUT OF BOLTON.

What would you do?

Is the traffic that bad?

After the game I go for a pint and 20 minutes later the roads are clear.

Getting to the game is a piece of piss for me. 20 minutes from Manchester to being parked up and in the pub. Used to take me longer to get from Smithills to Burnden.

depends where you park

park on middlebrook and it's taken me 45 mins to get off

always go for a pint if I do but you need to wait that long for the roads to be clear

If I could make a suggestion to point no.1

The increased income from TV revenue is likely to be around ??10m per season from next year. To get back up to over 20,000 season ticket holders, why not use a quarter of that money (??2.5m), to subsidise season tickets from next season. This will reduce all season tickets by approximately ??125.00 each.

Thank you please. :good:

1- Immediately send every season ticket holder a cheque for a 20% discount on their existing season tickets, along with a grovelling letter of apology for overcharging. Massively publicise the discounts to encourage new sales. send out 3,000 free tickets to local schools for Cat C games. Make televised Sky games the cheapest matches to attend.

2- Sack current staff, then re-advertise the jobs paying more than the national minimum wage (If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys)and try to employ only bright young local students.

3- Have a meeting with the bigwigs at the highways dept, with a view to increase the size of all junctions/roads/and exits around the stadium.

4- Is there a problem?

On point number 1: Bring the crowds back I think this indicative of most clubs and in my opinion a number of factors have input this. One being Sky's blanket football coverage. Secondly, as Carlos demonstrated last week, it is difficult to make a last minute descision to go to the game due to it no longer being pay on the door, it really is more of an activity that needs to be organised now. Also, due to all stadiums being allseater now, if you just want to go to 1 match you will most probably have to sit on your own. Now, that surely will put some people off. I really think the main issues in the lack of crowd are not due to actions of the club or even the 'style' of play as some seem to to suggest. I really feel it it just endemic of the road football is going down these days and laws that have been passed regarding football grounds.

Bring back pay on the day and I may not buy another season ticket. Now my season money is sat in BWFC's bank account as opposed to mine now so even if I don't make it to a game, they've still got their pound of flesh as it were.

I am right in thinking pay on the door isn't allowed anymore as per Premiership rules?

.To bring the crowds back we need to have special dad and lad days/nights. Not only does this fill empty seats but also encourages the next generation of Bolton fans. I'm not as daft to think we should do this every game but Watford, Shef Utd, Reading etc - no brainers in my opinion - we know there will be a shit load of empty seats. Same goes for the cup games like we did last season I think??? Obviously the most simple answer is to reduce the price but this will never happen. Attractive football for once is another.

Grub and Food - beer only lanes and possibly get a ticket system like Sainsbury???s. You grab a ticket then get instantly served when your numbers up but this is subject to the staff actually getting through the tickets in a speedy manner which I fear will never happen. Get rid of these non-English kids and get some hard working semi-retired pensioners in who will do a far better job.

Transport - fubar. As good as it will ever be

as far as i can see the club seem to be totally oblivious to any issues raised here.

a start would be for the club to acknowledge there currently problems in the club rather than sam just blaming fans for not turning up...

when the club are charging 50 quid for kids to see a full season of premiership football, i'm not sure theres that much they can do on that front

a couple of years ago, plenty were saying the ground was too small

the board used a legitimate technique, which was to put up the price

not surprisingly, this reduced demand

i think they may need to look again at their figures

You just triggered a thought. We need a club & fans forum once a month with the Senior Management at the Reebok to express thoughts and concerns (and praise where due) from the average fan on the terrace. How you do this without subjecting them to useless chants of w@ankers and your a bunch of kunts is another matter from the various sections of brain dead "fans".

theyre not unaware of the issues

i suppose the dilamma they face, if pricing is the major issue with those that are staying away, is what to do about it

ie would price cuts entice the missing few thou back?

if not, why bother

3- Have a meeting with the bigwigs at the highways dept, with a view to increase the size of all junctions/roads/and exits around the stadium.

The main problem is that at the moment all traffic from the middle brook piles onto de havilland way another exit route needs creating ie straight onto the motorway in both directions but the council don't have the money and i can't see BWFC or Emerson stumping up the cash!

1) Firstly and foremostly the club needs to apologise for getting so many things related to ticketing so very wrong over the years. Clearly something HAS gone wrong.

They need to contact EVERY lapsed season ticket holder to ask if there is ANYTHING they can do to get them back. You then say "if we do this and that, you'll come back?" and they answer yes, that's commitment (ABC, basic sales technique, and a sale. You need salespeople doing that job, not low paid ticket office staff who get more grief than they deserve.

Lowering the price, and advertising that fact, will bring back some people. Making it easier to obtain tickets is a must, the booking free and 0871 number simply HAVE to go IMMEDIATELY. This is the ONLY thing that actively stops me buying tickets for games.

Bigmouth Sam needs to come out and apologise for his comments, he was doing what he does best and wasn't aware of the cold hard facts that the public facing part of the business is in chaos.

Lastly, I personally think Gareth Moores should do the honourable thing and commit hari kiri.

2) Bring in a professional company with a proven track record, De Vere's are a successful hotel chain and nothing else.

3) Traffic flow is fantastic at the moment with 21000 crowds, this isn't an urgent issue.

4) Bus and rail links seem quite good to me

as HW posted previously, the club are currently in discussions with wanderersways

for too long, the fans of bwfc - at least those without a travel blanket - have been without a voice

wways intends to be that voice

and to be fair, we feel we are making progress, but it won't happen overnight

Oh dear, what's coming next I wonder?

when the club are charging 50 quid for kids to see a full season of premiership football, i'm not sure theres that much they can do on that front

Yeah, but I think PMW is saying one-off games.

I wouldn't wanna take my daughter(s) to more than 2-3 games per season.

A season ticket would be wasted. But as a ST myself, for me to take her to a game, I have to give up my seat and find somewhere totally new to sit with her for a game - typically it will be a worse seat than I currently have an ST for.

Its been mentioned time-and-time again and I know Boro fans gave it a mention about their ground recently - and its the fact that too many blokes are staying under the stand drinking and watching the game on the screens. This WAS NEVER an option at Burnden.

Right, it's a long shot this but it works in Spain, and the answer is staring us in the face. The internet.

Basically (and I accept that a lot of you probably know about this already), in Spain there are almost always things called ''penas'', which are supporters clubs that buy group tickets for each season and/or per game. Speaking from experience, my brother in law follows Real Mallorca everywhere, and he is a part of pena de andratx, which has about 40 members. Most of them meet in a bar about a mile from the ground before each game, and some are simply ''online friends'' who meet them in the ground.

Now, the clubs have a liaison man who interacts with all the penas either personally or through the web. He arranges block bookings inside the grounds so eveyone is sat together, arranges discounts for some matches and listens and acts on any requests that arise.

The upshot is that the club and the fans are in constant discourse with each other, and any problems are nipped in the bud. This makes going to the match in Spain a much more enjoyable and organised affair.

Therefore, I would suggest something similar here. If wanderersways, thewanderer and however manyy other internet sites exist could speak openly with someone at the club, and arrange block bookings, it would create a much better atmosphere. They could even open up that big hall under the east stand on matchdays as a big boozer - some good tunes on and plenty staff would get eveyonr in the mood.

And then of course, they would understand why the fcuk everyone is whining. And word would get round about the improved atmosphere and facilities, and they'd be back in no time.

Crikey, my fingers are going numb.

In our meeting with Mike, the response most give for not renewing is;

a) cost....prices have been frozen

b)kick off times....out of the clubs control

Even if it was a tenner to get in, i dont think that mass numbers would return.

A bar area needs to be created before / after the game..

Unrestricted seating, pay on the gate turnstiles in the same area.... this should be publicised as this type of section so women who moan about cig smoke should avoid it at all costs!!!

the kiosks are a disgrace I would give de vere whites the remainder of this season to improve and then cancel their contract if no improvement is forthcoming.

External catering around the ground...on the walk from the station to the ground stalls selling merchandise, fast food etc to create a atmosphere...e.g like what goes on around Old Trafford.

The tv's not to show the match during the game 10 mis before / after Half Time.

Tickets to local schools on CatC games.

Get rid of I feel good, reebok rythmn and fireworks...get a pre match warm up guy who actually knows what he is doing...

god this could take all day.

Yeah, but I think PMW is saying one-off games.

Exactmondo.

as bobat says, there are lots of little things that could change to improvematter. just give people less to moan about and maybe they'll focus more on the team..

what the hell does spending 1k on fireworks every match acheive anyway???

Arsenal have created a section for these kind of people called the red something or other. Boro are interested in the idea as well. Basically its the guys who go to all the away games, are vocal and like-minded. You can bet that they won't be told to sit down during games either if they are all "like-minded" and want to stand.

I'll repeat my point - we need some Ultras. Or Th'Ultras as Bolty preferred.

I beleive the children are the future, but my mate's 7 year old lad fell asleep on Saturday, and he normally doesn't miss a kick. There'd be no falling asleep with a section of flag-waving, banner-displaying, intimidating drunken lads (and lasses) creating a right stink for 90 minutes.

I tell thee.
