Gotta say my hatred of them in the 80's & 90's has somewhat mellowed since. They do have the designer, prawn sandwich and southern / irish following, but they have a better "hardcore" than any other club imo.

I agree with BGOE. My hatred towards them has totally mellowed too and I live in Manchester. Carlos is spot on too; we and other clubs have too many numb-nuts who fall for their winding up and can't respond with anything remotely witty. They'd give up the Argie / Portugal shouts if it got no reaction, but it does...And they're right - England are sh??te!

 

I know some decent lads that follow Utd - they're fine. What winds most folk up is the vast amount of "all-knowing" Utd fans in the pub or at work, who don't actually support their team other than buying young Eric Wayne Bryan Christiano the 3rd, a new shirt from JJB for his birthday every year. They're the real c??nts and Utd simply have more of 'em.

Ditto Smithers... used to wind me up no end but your quite right..now theyre just an irritation rather than the hate figure they once were, but it all comes flooding back for a couple of hours when we play them... having said compare the dark day on February 1996 to now and the difference is there for everybody to see. I know a lot of the Walkden and Little Hulton chaps still have that same hatred (as well as many Bolton lads) but not for me.

 

It was interesting to hear that Wigan was on everybidy's lips on saturday ... how times change.
