Reading on Sky Sports yesterday that Downing, Jenas, Parker and Kin (if you class him as a midfielder) are out of the England squad, does this mean replacements are called up?

 

If so surely Nolan must get some sort of chance. I'm unsure he could make the step up but in my opinion he is twice the player Jenas is and he's a squad regular

I think its ridiculas how he has never been picked.

Its typical if nolan played for tottenham or west ham hed be in the england team no probs.

i don't think there is any chance Nolan will ever be picked for England if Mclaren remains in charge, the lad deserves a run out in my opinion, furthermore if he played for any of the big 4 or west ham/spurs/newcastle he would have played by now or the southern press would have made Mclarens life hell.

As has ben said many times before on here. he's nowhere near gerrard or lampard class nor Hargreaves and possibly carrick (still not done anything to warrant the hype)

But he's better than richardson and Jenas.

I would put Lampard, Gerrard, Parker, Richarson, and Carrick in front of Nolan, and Hargreaves had a decent World Cup.

He should swallow his pride and play for Ireland, it didn't do McAteer any harm.

Very true! Also him living in England, being born in England etc will mean more to him to play for his home country. Aaron Lennon has been ruled out of the squad now too

I think you are probably right there Mounts if Ireland don't qualify for major comps he could regret it, but if they could get enough quality to play on the world stage Nolan would have a great chance to shine like the lads did under Jack Charlton.

i have to agree with you there frank spencer owen hargreves must be a good player to play in a top european team and win the champions league and a number of domestic trophys must mean hes half decent

Sorry, don't agree with this. Barton is no better than Nolan in any area IMO but do agree that both wouldn't cut it at International level

nolan is are best player by a long way are midfield looked class again on saturday nolan wins so many balls in midfield and lays it off to other players to get another attack on goal. if he played for a more high profile club he would be in the england squad, probably not a starter but would be able to come on and give england something different in midfield when they need to change the game. i fear he is being left with no option but to leave us once an offer comes in.
