i am still waiting to see our actual prices announced for next season and until i do i am not going to slate the club, we have been involved if not leading in getting prices reduced, so lets see how much it is going to cost.

 

one other point the price of season tickets at balckburn is totally irrelevant to bolton fans it is not like people will now switch allegiance.

For 15 of the 19 games at Ewood next season, away fans will pay ??20.

 

Arsenal, Liverpool, Scum and Chelsea will pay ??30.

I think BWFC have left an open door on this.

 

They mentioned "by an average of 10%". Based on the feedback and Rovers going for 25%, Bolton could stagger the discounts across different areas of the ground so some tickets actually have > 10%.

 

 

I think we also need to be careful that we are comparing like-with-like here. Are Rovers saying it is 25% v this seasons full price and there is no early purchase discounts on top?

BWFC ofcourse seem to be saying its 10% average off last years full price + the early payment discount on top. So comparing like-for-like our total discount could be seen as being nearer to 20%.

 

 

Ofcourse for all the BWFC ST who always purchase early to get the discount, the bottom line is that the saving is just 10%.

Doesn't help that i work with a load of pricks!!! It rattles my cage the ST debate, mainly because many of the people who the club "may" win back are exactly the types of fans we don't want!!! The hangers-on, the 5 season fans, fcuk em. But even when the club want to try and win them back with this discount incentive they fcuk it up......

My point was though that being the first to lower prices and the good press that comes with it is worthless really. I mean 10% is neither here or there in terms of a discount to those who already don't come to the Reebok. Wouldn't it have been better to release full details with prices etc in the first place rather than jump on the PR machine. We are still discussing it now and don't know what is going to happen. Whilst at least Jackburn fans have a good idea what the score is for next season.

I have to agree with you there Jimmy. We had a fair few on for the Fulham game (although not the most exciting) due to the in for a the fiver concession. But on an atmosphere front, you could see tumbleweed floating across the pitch and almost here Clint Eastwood whistling at times. I think it's just the same old and much used on here (and I'm as much as a culprit than anyone else) debate of the demographics of football (all seater, orange coats, nowhere near the away fans etc.)

I think we need quality in our support, not quantity. Then again, I don't have to trouble myself with silly little things like budgets and balancing books at BWFC.

I don't think it's excessive. But basic supply and demand means I was happy to pay ??450 when the ground was full. Now when we are well short of capacity I'm not so willing to pay premium prices.

 

Remember at the start of this season, Okocha who was the only player worth the entrace fee had gone, Diouf didn't look interested last season and Anelka hadn't even been mentioned as a target. A season ticket didn't look like good value to me.

 

I'll be tempted at ??413, if they try to whack a credit card charge or booking fee on that you can guess the answer. I'm going to wait until the actual figures are out though.

I'd agree!! There was a load of doom and gloom on WW and around the club in general. Shite pre-season, hardly any signings. Excitment was low on the ground, but a few games in and a few wins, plus Mr Anelka and things soon looked up.

on this theme lets not forget that if someone starts to find the odd days and KO times a bind they may eventually come to the conclusion that the ST isnt worth it, especially if they were always missing a few and things were getting worse. Not saying that's Carlos's scenario, just pointing out that there are perfectly reasonable reasons why someone may now decide that even though they've had one for ages, and even though the team are doing the bizzo, a ST is not for them.

that does not make them any less of a Bolton fan!! Them as get to every game do so through obvious commitment to the cause but also through the good fortune of being able to cope with the varying times etc.

When I lived in London or Southampton a ST was simply not feasible, but I felt no less of a Bolton fan. Likewise I have one now as I can get to most games and also then get to sit with people I've been going with for years (decades in fact!). But say those changed - if I couldnt get to the odd KO times and maybe it turned out I could get to sit there anyhow paying on the day, then I wouldnt buy a ST.

my question to carlos is around the price issue that seems to piss him off, if you buy a season ticket you cen get into all the games without having to pay his hated booking fee so if he had one that issue would be reduced.

 

i know for a fact he goes to most games as tends to sit near us and i am in no way questioning his loyalt to Bolton, all the reasons you give about kick off times were there 2 seasons ago and carlos had a ticket then not sure why given we now have anelka, diouff playing well (sometimes ) and potential for another european season why he now thinks it is nt much better value than in previous years.

A good point well made Frank, feasibly, with "early purchase" people could be getting 15-20% off..............although this will still not be good enough for some people.

Fakin right its not good enough CWP.If the club reduce prices by 10%, somebody who renewed their season ticket before the early purchase deadline last season and does the same this season will save 10% so how do you work that out to be 15-20%?

Football fans have been punished for their loyalty for too long.

People say you can't change clubs, however, I know people who go and watch the Dingles and other people who watch the Piemen despite being Bolton. This is only making it easier for them.

 

Bloke at work is an armchair Liverpool fan but goes watching games at local clubs as he enjoys it. He's going to start taking his young lad soon. Blackburn and Wigan are a more attractive prospect for him at the moment.

We hope these prices will retain existing fans and also attract back those who have not been for some time.

 

bwfc are just looking at retaining existing fans. 10% aint gonna attract anyone.
