I refer WW to my previous posts on this subject.

 

 

Our 10% reduction equates to less than 4% of the total of the extra cash we get and was a cheap publicity stunt to get in first. It will attract no new season ticket holders but may just retain the current numbers.

 

 

By the time the end of March comes and all other Prem clubs have shown their cards, our 10% will look piss poor.

I've been lucky enough to play in front of packed stadiums across Europe and I know the positive effect it can have - so it would be great to see Ewood packed every week next season.

Must admit it looks to be a good pricing structure, a season ticket at ??299 only equates to ??15.73 per league match (if somebody gets one of the 5500 tickets at ??249, this is only ??13.10 per league match). Even the most expepnsive season ticket will only work out at ??21 per ticket.

 

I would imagine that Blackburns 25% reduction will be the largest anybody will do, with most teams offering either just a 10% reduction, or a price freeze.

 

Will all these price changes make any difference to match day attendances across the whole Premier League or not, I suppose we'll just have to wait until next season before we find out

Now thats what i call a decent price cut, our 10% looks measly by comparison - and will make fcuk all difference in the amount of season tickets we sell imo.

to be fair though, blackburn attendances this season are shocking and drastic measures were needed.

I know Bolton have said there will be a 10% discount on ST prices, but will there also be a further discount for "early purchase" if so, does anybody know how much this will be?

 

I also think to say "BWFC have fooked up" is a bit harsh, some teams have already announced they will not be lowering prices at all, merely freezing them.

I worked that out as well, it's p??ss poor. As ever the teams that are really strugglin will be the ones that have to offer the largest discount. A team like Man Utd, who sell out every week, won't need to offer any discount, teams like Wigan and Blackburn will have to offer huge incentives to fill their grounds

It is a lot easier to offer 25% discounts when you have a trust fund bringing in ??6m a season as our lancashire neighbours do.....

A good point well made Frank, feasibly, with "early purchase" people could be getting 15-20% off..............although this will still not be good enough for some people.

Ewood park is, on a percentage basis, the least full ground in the Premiership this season. That may explain their actions.

 

Bogs, taking populations as the sole basis of whether support is decent or not is seriously flawed - Bolton is much closer to the Manchester clubs etc than Blackburn, so there is increased competition.

 

Money may be an issue to a certain extent, but my fear is that unless the price is reduced by an uneconomical (to the club) level, then I fear folk won't bother anyway. It's too easy an excuse for the apathetic.

Spot on Carlos, at the time I said that our discount offer would be dwarfed by those of Jackburn and Wigan. In my eyes any good faith won by the original discount will be undone by the coming weeks by discounts at other clubs. People argue that our situation is different to Jackburns/Wigan's etc. However the fact remains that watching Premier League football at Ewood next season will be much cheaper than for those wanting to do the same at the Reebok. That fact alone will put off a lot of the stayaways for next season.

 

For the record i will be renewing my ST next season and would have do so without the discount.
