ZiggyStardust Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I know its tribal, but New GM ? Bolton Wanderers boss Sammy Lee hopes to name Frank McParland as the club's new general manager this week. The 58-year-old, currently part of Liverpool's scouting network, has been lined up after performance director Mike Forde, who had been offered the general manager's job, quit the Reebok. Forde is expected to join Sam Allardyce at Newcastle. I hadn't seen anywhere that Forde had quit, just that he had been offered the GM job here. Or am I simply behind the times ?
forever white Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Didnt know myself but the same quote is in the mail near the bottom. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...in_page_id=1779
morphus77 Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 I hadnt heard anything about this either. Lets hope its not the first of many!
White79 Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 If its true Forde has quit the club then it could be the biggest blow of them all especially if he's as integral as we are led to believe him out to be. Anyone know much about this Frank McParland (apart from he's Liverpools chief scout)?
Casino Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 if forde had gone 6 months ago, nobody would have batted an eyelid
no balls Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 Don't panic, kids. How do we not know the new broom's sweeping clean? Fat Sam wants his men, well so will the Little one too. If he's coming from Liverpool then Sammy quite obviously knows this man and so how do we not know LS has not said, 'Fordey, do one lar, I've got my own man lined up for your job'?
bwfcy2k Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 if forde had gone 6 months ago, nobody would have batted an eyelid Very true. I'm not batting an eyelid now. People are talking about a 'big loss' which can only be taken from what the media have said. Ultimately - playing staff are the people that need to be retained / attained to take the club forward. Yes, backroom staff are important but players get results
YATESY Posted May 29, 2007 Posted May 29, 2007 The blue print will remain. FSA can take away the personnel but he can't take away the knowledge and plan of how it all works. One glorified physio goes out the door and another will come in!
Sweep Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 if forde had gone 6 months ago, nobody would have batted an eyelid 100% correct Casino, 95% of Bolton fans had probably never heard of this bloke a few months ago. I'm sure that his work wasn't top secret, and he had a team of people working with him, you would expect that one of his staff could step up and full his job if required, it's the same with any business.........no one person should be irreplaceable

However, it also doesn't mean we'll fall apart at the seams without him.
HomerJay Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 if forde had gone 6 months ago, nobody would have batted an eyelid ignorance is bliss?
YATESY Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Now the Bolton backroom staff can officially apply for jobs at Newcastle: Jobs for the boys That is one way to get around illegal approach for staff and compensation
cbwfcd Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I might apply for the nutritionist role, apparently eating mcdonalds three times in one day and then not eating the next day is very good for the players.
