Best Player Ever Seen

Ive nicked this topic from another forum but:

A ) Who is the best player you have ever seen in a wanderers shirt?

B ) Best individual performace from a player you have seen against a bolton team?

Mine personally would be Hierro, a sheer class player. I know he only played a handful of games, but his quality was there to be seen. When he was subbed against Everton, the reception he received going off the pitch made hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

Steve McManamen in the League Cup Final in 1995. What a performance!

Let me think about individual performance.

redfearn or okocha

bobby barnes for northampton

1, Okocha

2, Ruud Gullit at Burnden.

Per Frandsen in a 3-3 home draw with Birmingham in Div One. An immense performance, he played them on his own, the best display in a White shirt I have seen.

Best against I would agree with McManaman, it won the cup for them.

best performances in a white shirt would be okocha at spurs and diouf at birmingham

Simon Charlton in the 9 man 2-2 draw against Leicester.

I'm not going down this Okocha, Djorkaeff, Hierro bollox because we bought in class and they were class. Tony Kelly was the the dogs, and for me always stood out in the lower leagues.

I try to forget folk who run rings around us, and this choice is a classic example. There was a black Fulham player, who's name escapes me, who had a cracking game at the Reebok a few seasons ago.

David Lee at Liverpool in 93

hayles?

Simon Charlton in the 9 man 2-2 draw against Leicester.

DOH. Just read the question properly.

Best performance against us, Steven Gerrard in a 2-2 draw at the Reebok. Not the stamping game - before that.

Fooking immense and the only reason they got a point.

remember georgi hagi playing against us in anglo-italian for brescia, not a bad performance if i remember correctly.

also colinna was refereing that night as well.

hayles?

Might be. Think the bloke I'm on about got substituted late in the 2nd half. But I could be wrong with that.

Undies on the ball as ever.

1. See the bloke in my avatar. The last part of the 04/05 season he was streets ahead of any player whose played for Bolton.

2. Apologies but Roy Keane's performances for Nottm Forest in the 9-2 aggregate defeat of us in the Littlewoods Cup (circa 1990)

1. Hierro

2. Fowler when he scored 4 against us @ anfield in 96

1) Frank Worthington

2) Peter Osgood in a 6-0 hiding Chelsea once gave us at Burnden

1. Johnny Byrom

2. Alan Hudson in that same game... our midfielders are still wondering where he is...

bobby barnes for northampton

Agreed. Didn't he get a hatrick that day? I remember us being totally outclassed!

Seen many great Wanderers players over the years but Frank Worthington is always up there in my favourites. Having said that Okocha, Hierra and Djorkaeff all oozed class. McGinley, Walker, Franny Lee, Wyn Davies, Nat Lofthouse etc etc - how can you choose.

Like Undies I have dementia when it comes to performances against us.

Andy Walker was the pivotal point of the turnaround in fortunes for me.

He brought a touch of class and an astute ability to win games on his own.

Against us :-

Michael Brown for Shrewsbury

David Lee for Bury

Definetely the Bobby Barnes hat trick

Robbie Keane whoever he plays for !!

1. Sasa Curcic.

2. Danny Williamson

1) On form diouf is the best 'footballer' i've seen in a long long time in a wanderers shirt.

2) best against Rooney in both games last season just way and above anything else on the pitch that day

best performances in a white shirt would be okocha at spurs and diouf at birmingham

I agree with you on the diouf at Brum - he was quality that night!! and still is quality and entertaining to watch!

Best ive seen has to be Youri!

Hard question this one.

Best for us - Warhurst in the 5-0 thumping of Leicester at Filbert Street, followed by JJ at Spurs.

Against us - Rodney Jack destoryed us in BSA's first game, McManaman in the cup final and David Lee v Bury when I was a nipper

1/ The individual dazling brilliance of Ray Deaken

2/ Barry Knight against Ipswich ( t--t)

ignoring the pre-established stars, i'd go for eidur gudjohnson followed by alan thompson. you could see eidur was special, and was destined to go further. tomo and mcateer were quality, watch the big games in the mid 90s and these two were always tearing into teams.

the best performance against us (rooney and rodney aside) was probably alan kelly on loan for stockport from blackburn- it may have been we were gash, but nowt were getting past him that night
