Cost of living and the way that dirty scrubbers earn more than me by doing feck all

Tough decision for me when the offer came. Like many others, p1ssed off for years at the way certain immigrants were allowed to get away with stuff us natives would be jumped on for and could only see it getting worse. Mainly had two very young kids and couldn't see a bright future for them in the UK. It has been a great place to bring them up reet down here. Obviously there's crime, drugs etc. but those problems are tiny compared to up there. The weathers a bonus. I still miss England every day though.

And then there's the much mooted 'congestion charge' oh yes. Don't get me started on that chestnut. As I drive down the road I keep thinking that they could've used the tarmac to fill in the potholes rather than put up speed humps that speeding chavs ignore anyway, and also dispair that it's the local councils who are creatng the congestion so they can create a congestion charge.

 

If it was all done properly, traffic would run smooth and there would be far less 'congestion' ANDwhere will all the money from this 'congestion charge' go? Whos pockets I wonder?

 

I think the one thing that annoys me the most is that these people who are so called elected to voice their constituents opinions and wishes do exactly as they please, and fcuk the general public cos they know best.

Thought exactly the same when this was first mooted.

 

I've no problem with ID cards, cctv on every corner, credit scoring, paying tax or appearing on computers everywhere. simple don't drive into manchester! but think of it this way, businesses in manc won't want to pay cangestion charge so move out of manc best place for businesses to move in the area after manc? Bolton thus bringing more people and money into the borough.

 

any schemes that get built go to public consultation (those directly affected get a letter anyone else can use the web) if more people say yes than no then it gets built. So the voice of the people does count and the councillors decisions are based on this, just the majority think it's too much effort to use their voice.

Don't drive - get on that stinking, over-crowded & expensive train that I do every morning. Bolton has no chance of getting the metrolink & the train station looks like something out of the 1890's. Buses take an eternity to get from Bolton-Manc also. Bit f?cking rich the councillors & their cronies telling us to use public transport when they all f?cking drive (paid for by us too)

 

I'd argue Stockport, not Bolton, is more likely to get investment, maybe even Oldham/Rochdale and the other when they get the tram too. Most of this ?3billion (which is a LOAN from the government) is going on the metrolink.........something which Bowton & Wigan won't ever get. That some ?3bn is less than Labour under-budgeted the Olympics for

I take the hound up on the pike most nights and can categorically say we still live in a green and pleasant land. I've never been shot at or had my mobile phone stolen; my cars have never been touched and I haven't been burgled. (Cue all of the above happening within a week).

 

Whilst there are many problems the vast majority of right-thinking flaxen-haired anglo-saxons like meself are relatively happy with the way things are. A good pub and a walk in the fresh air is but minutes away and you'll love it when you get back here.

It possibly could get it from bury/radcliffe but highly unlikely as people wouldn't want it rattling past their house every 10/20 minutes til half 1 in the morning. To cover this Bolton gets a chunk of money to pay for public transport highway schemes in Bolton.

 

Congestion charging hasnt been agreed on yet but councils have agreed to look into the possibility of it, but only after millions has been spent improving public transport in the region, including bolton station and bus links from bolton to manchester. But that doesn't make a good story for the local press so never gets mentioned.

And I don't need to read the daily rag to make this comment - I already use the shoddy rail network (unlike the t?ssers in charge).
