Been 3 times, last time was to the England Sweden game last year.

I love it, though I will say it can be a tad disappointing for a stag do. It's got tons of sights (the cathedral [Dom} domiinates the city and is fantastic) but is expensive. Some decent clubs but the red light I think is on the small side.

That said, the lacal ale (kolsch) is awesome but you will drink about 2000 whilst you're there as they come in .2l helpings. Lovely though.

Still recommended, but take plenty of dough.

Absolutely - as near the cathedral or old quarter as you can.

Koln is a fantastic city and has everything you might be looking for, from brasses down the Reeperbahn to the breathtaking architecture of the cathedral. Rakes of ale and top quality nosebag, there are even a couple of Irish bars (is there a city on earth that doesn't have one of these ragging things?) You're also only a 30 minute train ride away from Dusseldorf, too, and that's well worth a vist. There are loads of footie clubs in that area if you want to take a game in, perhaps most notably Bayer Leverkusen who are about 15 minutes away (on the Dusseldorf train).

I like Cologne and went twice in the 1990s but there wasn't a redlight area in the city centre(if there was it was well hidden because i spent a few hours wandering round !).Dusseldorf, a short train ride away has some peepshows with solo cabins, sex shops and video booths near the train station but not a red light area on the scale of Hamburg,Hannover or Frankfurt.

I was passing from Koln once and had couple of hours to walk around and drink a beer. Went to one of the bars on the river and saw some promotion of a beer with banana - don't order that!!!

thanks in advance.

Stayed in Cologne, last year, plenty boozers in and around the main square, atyed at the Dom Hotel 5* right next to the Cathedral, well recommended.

For a stag do, just do the usual ask the commisioner or taxi driver regarding the brasses.

Yeh , went this time two years ago and was impressed.

Stayed near the train station but I cant remember the name of the gaff, a decent main square with a few bars in and off it, and a few decent bars off the river side streets. The beer and food was spot on and theres a few beer kellers dotted about.

Despite trying our best - the brass was hard to come by - a few dodgy Turkish types around the streets to the far side of the station - which is the Arab bit - and that was it.

Oh, and theres a Burberry and Daks shop just off the sqaure if you fancy buying some check. :nea:
