Can't fault that selection. Have to keep something back for the must win game on Sunday.

That squad should do good enough job IMO.

Edited by bwfcbromcross

The best line up I can come up with from that squad is:

Al Habsi

Hunt--Miete-Michalik--Samuel

Stelios--Guthrie-Speed--Wilhelmson

Diouf---Braaten

Bench: Walker, Andranik, Cid, Harsanyi, Mccann

Speed should play and be captain due to his experience. Braaten should partner diouf up front as diouf isnt suited to leading the line on his own, although Braaten looks a bit like a headless chicken at least he'd give their defence a bit more to think about. Samuel over Cid, samuel is bad but cid is far worse,

ph31 - have you been to any UEFA Cup games?

I only ask because you seem to have missed out subs #6 and #7

A couple more Al Habsis should sort that out.

Could have rested all the main players had we gone with the best team against Aris and wrapped qualification up. <_<

Utter disgrace.

Not sure I will bother with Wigan now on Saturday.

What are we aiming to achieve as a club? Survival?

I expect another 1000 off the gate on Sat now.

Well done Megson, utter disgrace

Oi, Megsonhater, do us all a favour and turn up on Saturday instead of Sunday eh? I wonder if your 'utterly disgraceful' attitude will change if the weakened team gets a result as it did in Munich?

Sunday, whatever.

So what if we fluke a win, to treat this cup with such disrespect is awful.

Many fans are sick of the club being so negative, I am looking forward to the days back in the Championship when we can see a team trying to win every game and aspiring to somehting greater.

Our current existance is pointless

Get with the plot. Premier League survival is far more important than UEFA Cup. Meggers is treating it that way, just as his predecessors have treated domestic cup competitions in the past. We can't have it both ways. But then I have a sneaking feeling you'd argue that black was white so long as you got your opinion heard.

days back in the Championship when we can see a team trying to win every game and aspiring to somehting greater.

I am fighting this but...........oh, fook it, this is one thing that you've said which I could almost agree with. Must admit the EPL is failing to inspire me these days. The predictability of the top 4. Soulless concrete bowls. Corporate w@nkers stealing our game from us. I almost find myself pining for a wet afternoon at Grimsby or similar. The people I would be sharing the terraces with would be the true diehard loyalists who have my utmost respect - many of which frequent this site - people I was/am/would be proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with.

Getting tired and bored the whole plastic, 'nanny state' EPL experience. I wonder if this feeling is widespread and contributing to falling attendances (and not just ours)?

I'd say that outside the "big" 6 or 7 clubs that's definitely the case, look at the falling attendances at Boro, Blackburn,Wiggin,Bolton,Brum etc.

what a load of shite, so we have to take a huge step back in order to allow us to aspire to being back at our current level??

that sentence may not make sense, but it makes more sense than any of the crap you spout...

i dont like negative football, but i detest negative people (well cockgobblers like you)

FFS, you are a fucktard, and all your 'friends' who share your opinion

i miss the atmosphere, the cavalier approach of old, but i would not sacrifice it for success- we need to build, not give up and go down...

you really would prefer us to be (as an extreme example) pushing for promotion from League 2, than where we are now?

I fully agree with you.I don't blame Megson though,it will be the owner or board who told him to save players for the league. For treating the sport like that, they deserve to lose to Wigan.

I won't pay to watch another cup tie under this regime, and i will only be there on Sunday because i have already paid for it.

Those who think they can't play a strong team in Belgrade and still beat Wigan are puddled.Allardyce won harder matches than Wigan at home after Uefa Cup ties

I think we should all boycott the Sheff Utd game in protest at the lack of respect for UEFA Cup football.

Look at Everton last night.

Full first team out, attendance 38407.

Megson, Gartside or whoever decides to "rest" six key players, you are a fooking disgrace.

I will certainly NOT be buying a ticket for Sheff Utd now.

samhater is a knob.

but he is right about us playing weakened teams.

what is the point of us qualifying for the uefa cup ?

we would be better finsishing tenth, if we no longer are trying to finsih as high as possible what is the ragging point ?

Getting relegated isn't going to persuade anyone to return to the Reebok. The club needs to address the concerns of the supporters or those supporters that have stopped going aren't going to return regardless of which division we're in.

The sad truth is though, even if we put a full team out against someone like Aris no fucker would turn up either. Granted a 1000 or so extra may come, though thats still embrassingly bad. Your point regarding Everton doesn't wash with me, even if they had rested players throughout their UEFA jaunt they would have had a good crowd on. Our support is shite, Everton's is much much better........It really is that simple IMO

people have stopped going since we stopped taking it seriously.

this is 100% down to the club, i do not know if it made the differnce between staying up one year, but this is why i do not bother with cup games much these days.
