Never thought I'd say that about about a LH spill!

Christ, I'm blushing! Seriously though, Bowton fans are gems in my book. It would be so easy for Bowtoners to become glory hunters and fook off to Man U or Liverpool (and I know some do). Speaks volumes about the backbone and moral fibre of the fine people on here that a high percentage of us were there in divison three and four. Those are the ones I felt best about when the euro tours were on. If ever anyone deserved the euro jollies it is them.

 

Good to see a younger generation coming through and particularly those like Ryan, Jules, Oli etc. who could justifiably have gone Manc.

 

Traf knows where he stands in my estimation. Without his organisational efforts, Skopje would have been a mindf?ck for me to sort out from here. Top lad. Ryan is one of the nicest lads you could ever meet. Alibobs just got moist again.

 

Been lucky enough on both my euro trips to meet some 100% sound people and if I were to list them all, this post would go on for fukn ages. A pleasure and a privilege to travel and drink with the likes of Brixton, Traf, Jay, Sir Bill, Bogsy, Satan, H, NB, Zico, Ghana, Carlos, Isaac, Undies, jayjay, Stek, Squidgy, Missus C, Uriah, Zozzy, Axeman, Henrilloyd, Colin, Casino, Ali, RobbieSavagesArse, Ryan etc. Missed loads out but they're all diamonds in my book.

 

Back to the thread title, Madrid and Skopje will stay with me until the day I die. A journey that started for me on a wet Embankment in 1964 and, so far, has seen me stood with a tear in my eye, amongst my own, in the Gradski in Skopje and the Vicente Calderon in Madrid. Would never have believed it when I was at Wrexham or Mansfield in the seventies and still pinching myself now.

 

I know it's 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' and all that, but there is no prouder Boltoner, BWFC fan and Englishman anywhere on the globe (there's a lot equally as proud though).

Interesting points. Man Utd home was the best home match of the season IMO, both before, during and after was a superb day out..

 

Lisbon: Good debate in the local rag this week, would we have gone down if we had progressed in the uefa cup? Know its been done to its death on here before now, but I personally think financially and for bwfc, losing out of the uefa cup and focusing on our premier league status at that time was pivotal in us staying up.

I think the question is really "what will you still remember of the season in 5 or 10 years time?".

I'm shite at remembering details of individual games etc and so it needs to be summat special to stick in me bonce. Obviously all the euro games will stay there forever, for both good (the craic at each of them, the Madrid result, seeing Skopje and a field in Belgrade, places I'd never have gone otherwise) and bad (Madrid police, Skopje child beggars, Lisbon selection) reasons. Plus the lightning off the port bow on the descent into Skopje was certainly not to be forgotten in a hurry Though in typical Bolton fashion the tension was released when the lads at the back started singing about "...in the Skopje air disaster".

League-wise, well United obviously but a big shout for the last game at Chelsea - what a pearling day out, great weather, great atmosphere, good banter and some good supping. That day will live long. Indeed, as usual, its away games that linger. Even with a poor following (Pompey), or a crap result (Villa), or it being absolutely freezing yer knackers off weather (Sunderland), or being absolutely battered before the game (Derby) or after it (Fulham). Can't beat it.

There is only one winner for the highlight of last season for me,

 

well highlight of my life for me.

 

Watching OUR team Bolton Wandereres play in front of 65,000,

 

in the Bayern Arena.

 

We out sung um and out supped um.

Its got to be the last few games of the season. WHU, Boro, spurs, Sunland and chelski, when as a collective group us bolton fans thought, "Fcuk it - we can made a difference" and got behind OUR team and created a cracking atmosphere. Our twelth man made sure we lived to fight another day. COME ON YOU WHITES!!!!!

for me, bearing in mind that last game i saw "live' was opener in 92 against Huddersfield, until I arrived for the last three games it has to be the moment dioufs goal went in against sunderland, sheer relief for the 1st time all season. a close 2nd would be any one of the 90 mins at chelsea when we abused the shit out of the steward for destroying all the beach balls before the kick off, their players (specially j cole, cry at the reebok), their fans, lampard losing it and clodding the ball back at our youfs, and 3rd the day out at Spurs where we got totally battered for 89.5 mins of the game and came away with a precious point. Priceless.

End of season, knowing your teams safe, hoping for a better one next year.

Munich away the piss up to beat all piss ups and a top result

 

Madrid away even though I came back with a shattered knee that still neds another operation I would go again tomorrow to see the Whites get a result like that against one of europes top teams (also the irish bar was not bad the night before)

Work prevented a trip to Europe.

 

But Boro away was like going back before football became family orientated.

My five year old getting carried away with the atmosphere against United and Sporting Lisbon.

Munich : It became one of the greatest days in my life as a Bolton fan. The 4 days I spent in Munich were also out the top drawer.

 

Madrid just about makes it as the Spanish Thugs otherwise known as the Police did taint it. Thankfully the old adage don't let the bastards get you down wins the day. Had a cracking time in Alicante for 2 days & the 2 days in Madrid.

 

Boro away: As it was a fantastic atmosphere from the off & helped erase the memories of Wigan away

& Arsenal home.

 

Sunderland Home: We won & were all but mathematically safe
