I've played a few times, but I don't really know the rules - which sounds a bit dumb, but I started to pick it up.

 

If I remember right, you get 2 unique cards of your own. Then there are 3 generic cards put down - which you all have use of.

Basically you need to be getting runs, pairs, flushes, etc. You can bet at each stage of the generic cards being put down (I think).

 

So for instance, if you had a pair of 3s and then the first card down was a 3 - you'd put your house on the f?cker.

 

Now I've finished typing up that sh?t, I'm thinking to myself - why didn't I just put - ask Ani.

go to pokerroom.com, and sign up then play on the play (ie not cash) tables. or coral poker, or in fact any poker site.

 

it aint really a game for teo though you need a table, you can play 1 on 1 but quite boring.

 

if he knows how to play and you donot he will win easily.

 

Did i mention i won 500$ playing this in vegas ?

When your in the lobby, there is a large red button towards the top saying 'get help'. I'm sure that will be able to explain it better than most.

at the start you get 2 cards (each players gets 2 cards only the individual player can see these cards.

 

there is a round of betting. (you can raise which means bet more, call which means match the bet or fold which means fcuk off and wait for next hand you have these options on every round of betting)

 

 

then three more card are dealt, these are face up all players can use any of these cards to add to the two in their hand

 

another round of betting

 

then another card is dealt face up

 

another round of betting

 

then the final card is dealt also face up

 

than another round of betting.

 

however has the best 5 card poker hand wins (you use the best from the 5 on the table and 2 in your hand)

Poker is a superb game, i like to have a few internet games every week when I get time. There are plenty of free games around at the moment where you can actually win big money (eventually) or just play multi table games for about ?1.50 where you get about 1500 chips each to start. You keep playing until you have lost all your chips and you can't lose more than the original ?1.50 stake. It is good for practice before you move on to the ?10 or ?20 games.

Last year there was a few games arranged between wanderersways posters. I wouldn't mind another go at that if there was enough people here interested . ???

btw I know it was short notice. 1,089 entries i'm still hanging in there by the skin of my teeth. There is only a prize for the winner. Nothing for finishing 2nd - 1089th in this game.

For anyone that might be interested I have just been knocked out of the freeroll tourney after 1hr 50mins playing time, finishing 47th out of 1,089

I have emailed one of the poker sites to see if we could set up a private table where only wways members can enter with a password. I have seen these private tourneys before where outsiders can't get access but I'm not sure if there is a fee or not. I await their response.

Another idea is to just pick an open table for us to jump in quick before it fills up, like we did last year.

 

If anyone is interested in a one off game for a bit of fun, can they put their name down here or PM me

Latest update on this:

they have sent me a general reply to my questions, and are asking me to fill in the application form for a private poker game for us. It seems that it will be accepted as long as we fulfil certain criteria like a certain number of players (don't know how many yet).

It's looking like it will be a cost of ?2.50 per person with the prize money shared out between the top 3 players + 25p per person for setting it up etc.

I haven't asked for the exact details yet because there might not be enough interest from the wways posse. If anybody else is interested in registering for a one-off wanderersways game just bung your name down on here or on a PM. There is no rush, it's just an idea at the moment.

For anyone that might be interested, I have just been playing in the freeroll final. I am not one for bragging but after 3hrs 11mins playing time I have just finshed 2nd out of the 136 finalists

The winner got the prize of entering the WSOP at Level 3 (which would cost $550 for everyone else that wants to join at this stage). finishing 2nd or 3rd means I get to enter at the WSOP Level 2 stage which would normally be $50 to enter. finishing 4th-9th tonight meant a Level 1 entry costing $5 for anyone else.

It is a bit like the FA Cup when the minnows start off in the qualifying rounds before they get to play the top teams who have loadsa money, if they somehow manage to get through. I would class myself as someone like the 'Barrow FC' of the poker world who have won through 2 rounds and are now playing the equivalent of maybe Tranmere or Port Vale.

As this is the World Series of Poker, the final is played in Las Vegas with the winner probably taking home over $3million. I don't think the winner has ever come from a freeroll qualifyer before though :::::: .The high rollers buy-in at the late stages for maybe ?20,000

For anyone that might be interested, I have just been playing in the freeroll final.

finishing 2nd or 3rd means I get to enter at the WSOP Level 2 stage which would normally be $50 to enter.

I am not one for bragging but I have made it through to the $550 Mega qualifier

I wouldn't dream of paying over ?250 for an entry fee, but the freerolls and satellites have allowed me to get to this stagel on the cheap.

I'm buzzing now, and counting the days to the 7th September Deep Stack tourney against the big boys. I don't have much chance of getting past that stage of course because I am up in class. But I'm playing well and got nothing to lose, and with the prize being a ?12,000 seat at the 'Grand Final' with all expenses paid in London (not Vegas as previously stated) I will give it my best shot.

 

I hope the Wanderers aren't playing that afternoon because I will be forced to watch them without a pint inside me
