Reebok Rumour Mill And General Bollox

Here's a thought, how's about keeping a list of all the players we are going to be linked with during the summer? Some will be players we propably will have a geniune interest in, some will be agents bullshiting for a move and some will be a complete and utter waste of ink by the papers. Of course we are not in a position to know which reports are genuine and which are bull, but nonetheless it would be interesting to see how many will be playing in a White shirt come August.

To keep it simple lets have no bullshite or chat, just players names on this thread please.

Courtesy of WW very own newshound (Traf) here are some names already linked with us.

Reports say we were after him. I did not watch any of the Uefa 2008 but know France were knocked out early so if he played he must be pants.

I still think we need a decent attacking midfielder cos since JJ left we have had nothing and another striker and another defender..............

I don't think Guthrie would improve so what about one of the little Russians from Zenit - even thought they won the Uefa they must be tempted by more cash and the brught lights of Bolton!

Gomis signed a new contract just before / during the euros, so he'll have gone up from the ?7M we wanted him for in Jan

Doubt that, they are on a massive wage in Russia. Theyre not exactly skint over there!

And the fact that France were knocked out early doesn't necessarily mean that any of their players are shit.

Thought we were after Lita in January, and made a bid? Ideal now as he has the pace we require.

we said we didn't bid + reading said nobody bid

somehow = we made a bid

how very odd

All I saw him do was mis-control the ball and give it away.

to be fair I don't think he was on the pitch for them very often was he?

He had half an hour I think, i'm not saying he's shit because we all know great players can be shit and visa versa in these tournaments. But it's all I have to go off.

on his french debut he came on as a sub and scored twice.

so it's swings and roundabouts.

Two nice, well taken goals they were too.

He'd fit in perfectly - Quick, get him signed up :good:

Can he play left back?

Apparently we offered St. Ettienne ?10m for Gomis back in January and we got knocked back then.

The latest player to be linked with us is: Hamburg centre-half Joris Mathijsen.

28 yr old Dutch international played in Euro 2008 and is valued at around ?5m.

I can't see it myself, unless we get the ?3m we're asking for Meite, who by the way is not interested in going to Hull at any price!

If we are having another round of I wants then we should add Aimar to the list who is linked with Everton for ?5mill.

Looked good a couple of years ago for Valencia and Argentina.

It's not a round of I wants: it's what we've seen/heard from the media as rumours.

Nobody has signed Klasnic yet, get it done Meggo.

In which case all this thread should be merged into the Pinned thread about said rumours?

Nah, he can go if he wants, shite last season.

Aimar has been shite for 2 years now, and we don't need any more small midfielders.....Peanutts, Osman, Spud.....we need some big monsters!

Today's linked target is.......................

Ivan Klasnic.

On a free from Werder Bremen, but we'll face competition from Wigan and Nantes.

Courtesy of Wiki (so it could all be bollox)

He's a 28yr old Croation with 30 caps (10 goals) - his club record is as follows:

FC St Pauli: 95 games, 26 goals

Werder Bremen: 150 games, 49 goals

He has been a bit ill in his time though

In January 2007 it was reported that Klasnić suffered kidney failure. On January 25, 2007, he received a kidney transplantation from his mother ?ima, but soon it was reported that his body rejected the new organ.[3]

On March 23, 2007 he underwent surgery to replace the rejected kidney, this time receiving a kidney from his father. The second transplantation was a success, and Klasnić stated that his doctors told him that he "would be able to continue playing football."

However in August 2007 the doctors at Werder Bremen forbade him to train due to inability of his body to whitstand heavy physical strain.

In September 2007 doctors finally allowed Ivan Klasnić to attend full training after he was absent for about 6 months. He then joined the team and made a couple of appearances in the club's cup activities and also appeared in a few matches for the second team.

Finally, on November 24, 2007, he was selected to start for Werder for the first time since December 2006, and played 65 minutes for his team in a Bundesliga match against Energie Cottbus. Klasnić completed his comeback on December 15, 2007, scoring twice in Bremen's 5-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, playing 85 minutes.

In March 2008, Ivan was recalled to the national team after a year of absence. He became the first player ever to participate at a major tournament after a kidney transplantation when he played at Euro 2008 and scored against Poland as Croatia progressed from the group stages to the quarter-finals.
