McCann is in my 1st 11 and HR has both Samuel and McCann in there.

 

IMO players like Hunt, Samuel, Cohen (I know i'm the only one who seems to like him) and Helgusson are very adequate back up player for the odd suspension or short term injury however what we do lack is decent competition for places in the starting 11 baring GK

Just because he cost ?11m doesnt make him a guaranteed starter. I would slowly introduce him to the pace of the League, theres not many pull up trees in their forst seasons, Anelka took about 11 games to get off the mark I think?

Get some points on the board early on would be my priority. Seeing Gardner lunging back again after yet again being caught out of position through his poor distribution is something we can improve on as well, I think most people only have him in through nostalgia, and yes our squad does look a little threadbare. Helguson and Meite need replacing if they leave, Hunt, J'OB and Cohen have got make or break seasons as well.

I don't think he's shite, but I don't think he's particularly good either. He's certainly better ay LB than he is in midfield I reckon. Gardner was reasonable for a coule of seasons, but he shouldn't be automatic first choice now. If Samuel can start this season as he ended last season, then he should be first choice LB in my opinion

2 or 3 seasons ago Gardner won our player of the season, got a player of the round in the FA Cup with our 1-0 win over Arsenal and i think also got in the Sky Sports teams of the year at left back due to his consistent performances. He's had a couple of injuries since then but i think he will come good again. He's 29 which means he should be in his prime. He still is one of the few players in the team with pace which is vital. I'm personally glad he's staying on for another 3 years
