Ginger Mourinhio

His time is up, had more than a fair crack of the whip, turgid boring, bad team formation, too slow making subs to change the game, has not got a clue or even worse does not care what the fans want, completely at odds with everything BWFC used to stand for, contrary to his view of BWFC we are not a team or club who will put up with his tactics which mirror the last 18 months of FSA reign, in short a bad appointment that needs terminating immiediately.

I think the only thing we are missing is a couple of midfielders who know how to score a goal!

Get McCann, Gardner and Davies out of midfield and replace them with midfielders who can score goals every now and then.

Will people stop saying that the manager is too negative. One person said it and the rest are following like sheep.

Do you honestly think that the tactics were to play for a draw at home to Blackburn? Get real. We set out to win the game and came away with one point, just as Fulham did and Aston Villa did. Have they got sh!te managers as well?

And to suggest that Nolan hasn't got licence to join the attack when we are pushing forward is just taking the Megson bashing to the extreme.

If he is as negative as some fans say then what is the excuse for winning by two clear goals away from home last week? and did we look like we had ten men behind the ball against Arsenal when we went 1 - nil up ?

At ManU we would have taken the lead if Muamba hadn't missed the sitter and at St.James's we would have taken the lead if the penalty had gone in. Are these the tactics of a manager that plays for 0-0 every week ???

Give him a chance FFS

right, here's my gripe

our tactics "worked" against arse and utd in that we had a go against a team that would and did overrun us, the tactics also worked against west ham and we got a result, we are good at sitting back, and getting forward every now and again looking for chances

but the tactics seem to let us down at home in particular when we have a chance to take the game to the opposition, not just this season, last season as well (boro and villa spring to mind, as does wigan)

which makes it frustrating when you see us do alright against arse and utd, get the result at west ham, you think "right, should be able to get something off blackburn then" and then we don't because we don't go for them when they are there for the taking

we'll probably get a draw if not a win at spurs, only to then draw and lose against city/everton

not a megson hater, he just winds me up as he's too cautious, far too cautious, or more that he doesn't know how to attack, not that we have to every week before anyone says "but what about if we go for it and lose", but there are certain games when we should and don't

fer me it's the difference between another stuggle and midtable safety, just have a go at the opposition more when they are the ones who need to defend

i've also finally found the quote that sums it up for me:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/columnist...-fresh-air.html

"He's been a breath of fresh air," Nolan insists. "What he wants us to do is simple and basic. He said he can't teach us how to go forward and attack but he can give us a solid foundation to build from."

which I personally find frustrating

first one to say "lose 4-3 every week" gets a Chinese burn

Didn't say Allardyce or Megson were set up to get draws - they both set up not to lose, there's a big difference.

The 'Stars' were no longer available, Allardyce himself said those kinds of transfers don't happen anymore. Before anyone says "Geovanni" - he was great at Citeh until it started getting cold - that's why no-one else took a gamble on him, you really think he would've chosen Hull over anyone else in the Premiership?

See above. Those players (Djorkaeff, Okocha, Hierro, Campo) are not available on frees anymore. Allardyce struggled at the end because he couldn't sign those kind of freebies. Whether Megson would is irrelevant. Megson is signing younger players than Allardyce ever did. He doesn't sign foreign shite like Blessing Kaku for the sake of a backhander (allegedly). Megson has managed to persuade people like Matt Taylor and Gary Cahill to choose us, so he must be doing something right when it comes to selling his 'vision' for Bolton Wanderers.

You only need to look at various message boards, the Bolton News Forum, folk in your local pub, and the bottom line falling attendences. the Bolton public don't want to watch his style of football this mornings comments Goals before style someone please tell him that in our last 3 home games we have scored 1 goal

All this "Blackburn were there for the taking" is complete muck. Cus they didn't have Santa Cruz and Reid?

We'd've been better off if they had Santa Cruz, does alot less work than Roberts and would do bugger all after a kick in the rain with a move to Massive on the horizon. Again, Reid isn't a grafter and we'd have had more of the ball if he was playing. Blackburn are in the same boat as us and are a tough team to beat, especially away from home.

4 points from 6 is a good return from those two fixtures. A good chance to get 6, granted, but fcuk me it could be alot worse.

Don't think it matters who is in charge or what football we play, Bolton fans will bitch and moan for something. I'll never forget two lads moaning after a 0-0 with Southampton a few years back saying "we'll never get top 4 now, fcuking shite the lot of em"

OK I concede. I am completely in the wrong and will be proved so by Messiah Megson. How can I be so blind

As I have said repeatedly, I do not dislike Gary Megson. This is not personal. It's business.

Bored with it all now. What will be, will be. If we end up in the lower reaches of the league, it will make no difference to me. It will always be my club.

This is not personal. It's business.

Precisely

We'd have been better off playing them with Santa Cruz in their team.

Now you are on crack.

I'm saying, to say because they didn't have him they were 'there for the taking' is rubbish, cus he wouldn't necessarily have won them the game. In a game such as asaturday, I think he would have done nothing - a nice big move on the horizon, he aint the most physical of chaps - compared to Roberts, who runs all day - and that's what type of day/game it was.

Oh... hang on... am I disagreeing with a mod?! See ya folks, it's been emotional

the there for the taking was based on the line up and subsequent possession we had

had we been more attacking / clinical we could have had them

this is based on having watched the match, no offence, but you can't rely on Paul Merson as the basis for your arguments

you don't have to blindly defend any criticism of megson or the club, some people overreact and call for his head, but I think most on this thread are just disappointed that he doesn't seem to be able to get the team to attack more, something he admits himself, it makes for some very frustrating afternoons

I'm not 'blindly' defending either Megson or the club. I don't think Megson's right for us and would love to see Coyle or Sheridan in their - young managers who appear to be playing good attacking football, both with BWFC connections.

I just don't blindly slam Megson/BWFC for anything that doesn't go our way. There have been plenty of shite matches and much shite football for years, at least with Megson I see more than just patch-and-fix "he'll do for a year" methods of squad assembly. I like the fact he's bringing in younger players, and building a solid foundation. I think his next step is to take the solid foundation and confidence in defending and push on, and I think he and the players know this is all part of a plan to build something - why else would anyone have signed?

I might be wrong, I hope I'm not.

Nowt to do with me being a mod. Your statement about Santa Cruz was just rubbish.

How many goals did he score last season?

I wouldnt mind someone with that amount of goals in our team...but you'd swop him for Jason Roberts!!

but you'd swop him for Jason Roberts!!

Are you actually stupid or just a wind-up merchant? I said Roberts did a job that was effective, not that he was a better player. Read. I said that just because Santa Cruz wasn't playing did not mean it would be easy, as Roberts offers something different - he's shite, but he puts alot in.

I'd love a player like Santa Cruz but when my team is in the trenches away from home in the pissing rain and I'm after a point, I'd rather have someone like Kevin Davis who i know is gonna chase every ball and batter every centre half than a foreigner looking for a move - he's not on top form anyway like last season anyway.

I think Santa Cruz would have buried the header JR put wide. Roberts is a Championship player.

I think you're right. I think Davies/Elmander would've burried O'Brien's header, but they weren't there and they didn't. A million different permiatations, a million different things could've been different. But they weren't.

Just offering an opinion that to say an opponent would be easy because they've lost a player and replaced him with a hardworker is not correct, he's nowhere near as good granted, but he does cause problems of a different variety.

But Davies and Elmander were on the pitch, the reason Roberts was there and not Santa Cruz is entirely different.

19 league goals for Santa Cruz last season, 13 of which were away from home :pardon:

FWIW I agree with you on most things, but I know I was glad Santa Cruz wasn't playing when I saw the lineups. I wasn't too thrilled at the prospect of Roberts and Fowler playing against us for obvious reasons, but they looked light in midfield on paper and were probably there for the taking.

THIS IS A VERY GOOD AND CONSTRUCTIVE DISCUSSION/ARGUMENT BUT REALLY IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO ONE THING TO BE ABLE TO COME TO THE CORRECT CONCLUSION FOR ALL PARTIES AND THEREFORE ENABLE US TO BE ABLE TO MOVE ON TO THE NEXT CHALLENGE AND THAT IS - AFTER 8 PINTS OF LAGER, 4 JD&COKE, A TIA MARIA AND BABYCHAM WHO WOULD NOBALLS HAVE IN THE SACK FIRST ON A SATDAY NEET AND IN WHICH ORDER AND WHY? Q

K.DAVIES

J.ELMANDER

R.SANTACRUZ

J.ROBERTS

I give up, I really cannot be arsed.

Santa Cruz is a very good player and without him they aren't as dangerous. I did not deny that. I just thought that "there for the taking" was a bit extreme when they had hardworkers to step in.

*ahem* Should've battered em, they're shit, we're worse, we're goin down, Mugson's a c*nt ahhh that's better :)

Clearly there are a lot of people here who know nothing about football. Anybody who knows anything about football will know that the appointment of Megson as manager is a good one. I've got a fax in my pocket to say so.

All this about teams setting up to not lose. Every team in the league does it apart from the top 4, at least until they are safe from relegation. We drew at home to Blackburn its not the end of the world, if we can get something at Spurs weve got a little run going and confidence will build. Everton and Wigan are on the same points as us and i dont see them panicking like some of the people on here are.

I think Megson has done a decent job with the defence. Its the rest of the team that is fcuked up

Midfield of:

Muamba (Holding)

Nolan

Taylor

2 other MF's needed who can score a few

Forward

Davies or someone who can play upfront on his own. From what I have seen of Elmander, I dont think he is capable of this. Not saying he's not a good un, just not in a 4-5-1 system.

Will people stop saying that the manager is too negative.

I don't think the manager is too negative. But he does appear to be able to sort out defensive weaknesses rather better than attacking ones!

When he took over we had 2 major problems. We were leaking goals and our goals were in short supply and only coming from Anelkas pace and finishing!

Within a few months he had completely sorted the first problem. Full marks!

His solution(s) to the second problem has so far shown no results. None. No better. Probably worse considering Anelka has had to go.

Today on the official website he makes the problem sound simple. These players need to put their chances away and we'll rocket up the league.

I can make it even more simple than that. The reason any team is better than another is based on their ability to stop teams scoring and score themselves. The players on the pitch need to be gathered with both qualities. Our assembled team are woeful at scoring and to KEEP SAYING WE NEED TO TAKE OUR CHANCES WON'T IMPROVE THAT! To score more goals we need to have better finishers. He needs to buy them. Our finishing was woeful when he arrived. He's not improved that. Muamba is a bad finisher, Taylor misses chances for fun!

i agree with most of that apart from the last 5 words, he was our best hope of a goal on saturday, a cracking save and hitting the post, he'll be our 2nd or 3rd top scorer this season behind Elmander and possibly SKD

also we have the joint 3rd top goal scorer in the prem in our side at the moment.

given a run of games Elmander will find his groove, don't forget how long it took anelka to gel with the side.

as long as nolan remembers to support the front players and we play a 4-2-3-1 a'la liverpool we will score plenty

i dont agree with this overly cautious crap. its snowballing hearsay imo.

we had enough chances to win the game on sat, whilst being reasonably solid (robert header aside).

our fullbacks get forward more than they ever have in recent seasons. but to get fullbacks forward, 1 or 2 must be prepare to be disciplined im midfield.
