Dioufy Wants To Come Back Home

Taken from Setanta Sports webby...

El Hadji Diouf has admitted he would like to return to Bolton Wanderers one day, after irritating Sunderland's supporters by clearly demonstrating his affection for the Wanderers fans.

Diouf has struggled to make an impact on Wearside after his summer switch and upset the Black Cats fans when continuing his love affair with the Trotters faithful after Sunderland were heavily beaten in Roy Keane's final game in charge.

Recalled to face his former club again on Saturday, Diouf produced an impressive performance in a 2-1 win in the FA Cup third round.

Nevertheless, he admitted afterwards that he still misses Bolton and has been linked with a reunion with Sam Allardyce at Blackburn Rovers.

"I'm waiting to see what happens next," declared Diouf. "Maybe I'll stay, we'll see.

"I need to find out Ricky [sbragia]'s plans for me. I don't know how important he thinks I am.

"If I am picked more, then why not stay? But if I'm not playing, then I'd want to go.

"I had a wonderful time at Bolton," he is quoted as saying The Sun. "I love the club.

"I have no regrets at leaving but, one day, why not come back to there?

"I miss The Reebok Stadium. I threw my shirt to the Bolton fans at the end because they still love me so much."

"I?m a very faithful person," he informed The Sunday Sun.

"If you help me, I will help you in return.

"Sunderland helped me by giving me the chance to play in The Premiership again and if they want to sign me, I will come.

?For the moment, I am here and I will wait and see whether the club wants to make a proposal, but it?s still early days."

And there you go.

Backs up my point entirely.

You mean "QED"?

What?

Signing a player just to appease the idiots doesn't make him a fool?

Of course it does.

I don't agree with the way lots of our 'fans' behave/speak... but I wouldn't call them idiots.

My opinion is that a good manager knows he needs those fans onside, just as much as he needs the players trust n respect.

25,000 screaming idiots can be worth a goal a game :)

If it makes you look foolish and you believe it will improve your teams chances of winning [ I think this may be where we really disagree ] then that will do for me.

Personal pride and your inability to 'bend' can sometimes cost you as a manager imo :)

Arnold makes a good point as I would say a large proportion of those who call Megson amusing names will have forgotten Diouf's comments about leaving when we needed the team to be at their most committed.

If Megson signs Diouf to get those folk on side, I might have to resort to calling Gaz silly names too to get heard!

Yes point taken :)

My hope NB was that those of us who:-

a] Don't like Diouf cos he's not so bright and a bit arrogant

b] Don't call Gary Megson just becuse he has ginger hair

c] Are not one of what Traf calls 'idiots'

would not be so petty when the manager does something 'positive' that we don't necessarily agree with ;)

Bugger! I was just about to get out some old bedsheets and a marker pen!

Well that would be a waste of time really anyway wouldn't it. It's like 'Water off a Ducks Back' to Gary and Diouf well he cannot read properly anyway... he'd just arrogantly see his name and assume you had some sort of crush on him. He'd probably throw you his shirt after the game :)

You'll need a trip to JD to kit yourself out.

I'd have him back in a shot, he has been missed this season.

Conversely I think this is one reason that he would NOT be a fool.

I think Gary needs to swallow his personal pride and try to get some of the fans who dislike him onside! I think the more desperate he comes across is attempting this the better.

Stop all this "Water off a ducks back" and offer some embarrassed olive branches out to those who are still stinging at past mistakes.

We all need to pull together and it's made easier if the man at the helm loves us enough to buy who we want :)

That'll get the fans back on side. And then Megson can sack himself and appoint Allardyce in his place.

The day any Bolton manager starts trying to appease the fans by doing as they ask is the day we might aswell give up. There's a reason fans aren't football managers, because they'd be ragging shite at it.

Diouf was sold because he contributes nothing to the team and when the going got tough all he wanted to do was work out his fastest route out of town. Diouf won't be coming back for those exact same reasons. Let Megson get on with his job.

Diouf was sold because he contributes nothing to the team.

Rubbish! In fact 2 pieces of rubbish in one sentence! And Gary Megson himself would tell you that!

Let Megson get on with his job.

You mean stop writing about what I think he should do on this football banter forum?

You first!

Yes for me if it was at the right price

Do believe he was my Christmas wish-list choice

In the last calendar year......

27 apps 1 goal 1 assist

In comparison, Matt Taylor......

33 apps 8 goals 4 assists

The ?3mil we got for Diouf was absolute robbery.

Agreed on one thing. :good:

i would only take him back on loan and with a guarantee that we would get 10 goals from him....

So we've deduced that he puts in a lot of crosses. In 2008, not a single one of these crosses ended with a goal.

I'll re-iterate my earlier point that he contributed fcuk all. Unless they've started giving out points for putting in harmless crosses.

You mean "QED"?

Is QED to be the new WW buzzword . . . or is it buzzacronym?

We might as well be talking about resigning Anelka.

There is fcuk all chance of Diouf returning to Bolton. He may fancy it but I can't see anyone at the club being interested.

I love BWFC and would play for free

Let's see how deep his love is and offer him a job at Tesco and a start for every game and some love
