Good Source said that Arsenal were quoted ?28 Million in the summer, Inter told ?25 Million.

I just cant see this being anywhere near true.

It would be good, as he is class.

Portugese paper talk -

"Bolton offered 15 million EUR to purchase the pass of Veloso, with financial contributions to the future emblem of Alvalade, including a share - in principle about 20 to 25% - of the money for a future transfer (beyond the value to be received by the athlete's training, that the lions have also right)".

From Marado -

I talked to a person who works at Sporting and he told me that the talk behind the curtains is that: "he signed a two year deal yesterday."

I must say that I am reluctant in believing. But you never know!

Listen closely and you will hear Mr Megson using the 'WE' word on several occassions.

With Sporting?

If he signed for us for ?12 million, we'd want more than a 2-year deal.

Your not the only one! If this is true though do you reckon it will get some fans off Megson's back?

this would be a concern

but probably, based on his reputation (based on who has been linked with previously) this is probably the only way we could get him to sign

come play for us for a season or two, make your mark, get your big move

prob be a 2.5 year deal, with a view to selling in jan 2011

no, a 2 year deal lacks long term ambition

Interesting. Who's this Murado guy? Is he ITK?

He is a Benfica fan who joined up on Burnden Aces when Makukula signed on loan from them to tell us a bit about him - he's hung around since and I've linked you to what he's been saying about the Veloso story.

Right from the off he didn't think Bolton had a chance (just like most of us I guess) but he says the gossip is that he's signed a two year deal yesterday with someone (I assume he means Bolton but I have asked him to clarify).

As you can see he doesn't believe it himself - but like he says - you never know!

Ye, fingers crossed we've got him but i seriously doubt we have, especially if the massives are willing to use the trillions of quids on players.

What has he said bout Makakunamata?

I'm a Benfica Fan, i was searching google to see what Bolton Wanderers fans thought about is first game and found this forum.

I must say i'm kinda sad he left Benfica, but happy he joined Bolton instead of WBA.

He barely played this season cause our coach Quique Flores prefers David Suazo (on loan from Inter Milan) as main striker, Nuno Gomes substitute or sometimes second striker and Oscar Cardozo substitute or sometimes second striker also, so as you can see the chances that Makukula had to play were very slim this season. I really like Makukula and i think he will do very good in the premier league.

He is a very determined and a combatant player, has a real strong shot, finishes well with both feet and is a good header.

I don't know what kind of style of play your manager Gary Megson induces in the team, but Makukula is very good if the wingers or full backs can go up front and cross by the line, he scored 7 goals in SC Maritimo in 13 matches that way, then signed to Benfica in the 07/08 mid-season transfer market.

He seemed exhausted when he left the pitch today in the 64th minute (the yellow card didn't help also), hope he regains resistance fast so he can play a full match, then you will see the real Makukula.

If you have any question about Makukula, just post them, I'll be visiting this thread in the next days.

Best Regards,

Benfica Fan

That's my reading of it too - similar to the Anelka move. We get big publicity, have a top-class player for 12-18 months, we make a profit (even paying Sporting 20% or whatever) when we sell him to a big club. Nice business if you can work it. We'll see.

Think we'd all prefer long-term signings of that quality, but that ain't the real football world just now.
