Were You Gutted....

When we beat Spurs? Some of you fcukers couldn't wait for us to lose a game, and probably warmed a little when Bent made it 2-2, just to get back on the wagon.

We are the same size or smaller than most top end championship teams and like it or not just staying up is success for us. That isn't a lack of ambition - it's called realism. We've had a couple of great years but in retrospect, given the current climate, UEFA cup was the worst thing to ever happen to BWFC - it's now the millstone round the neck of every future XI wearing the shirt. We punched above our weight, we still are.

It was wonderful, and hopefully one day we'll have another crack. But expecting it and hoping for it are 2 vastly different things.

Getting shut of Megson now would be the worst possible thing to do and the instability probably would send us down.

End of rant.

Not seen or heard from you for a while T. Ever since you drank a shed load of that vicious Italian yellow liqueur in that Madrid Tapas Bar in fact :D Just come round?

I've been around....but my cheek got me a 6 moth ban on here.

Crampo - I've seen you about - but I don't frequent the Griffin often (I'm more of a Balmoral man myself!)

Some people think they know everything, are allways trying to annoy people and are really sarcastic on this site. In real life I bet they wouldnt say boo to a goos. I bet half the people on here dont even go to Bolton games or watch them live on TV. Yet they still think they are the Bolton Wanderers Oracle. :nea:

Some people?

There's no need to be shy: we're all grown ups.

Name names.

Not only have I said boo to a goos and lived to tell the tale, I've said bat to a cat, hog to a dog, force to a horse, miraffe to a giraffe, and lippopottamus to a rhinosauras. I couldn't think of anything better to rhyme with lippopotamus!

How f?ckin hard was that?

But have you seen an Elephant fly :pardon:

LH belongs to Salford DOUBLE FACT. It is served by Farnworth Fire Station but remains in the Salford Metropolitan Area.

But isn't that only a 1974 invention?

if something was only invented 35 years ago, does that mean it doesn't exist?

Well, clearly LH does exist, but I am enquiring whether it is a fabricated, quasi part of Salford, similar to the invented "greater Manachester"?

I might if I knew what a "goos" was.
It's the plural of goo, obviously. One goo on its own is as soft as shit, but they're nasty fcukers when they get together.

Yes and no, but it pre-dates 1974

Physically the area wouldn't have been regarded as Salford pre-war. It (like Farnworth to a degree) existed between Bolton and Manchester, the locals regarded themselves as 'Lancastrian' and probably supported Bolton.

Not sure when Salford actually claimed the place, I'd imagine post war, but seeing as a good 80-90% of LH's present inhabitants were shipped out of Salford from the 50's onwards and it is governed by Salford, it's not really comparable to the Greater Manchester thing. Bolton, Oldham, Wigan etc are not and never will be Manchester. Whereas building all the estates in Little Hulton was basically a physical extension of Salford.

A lot of 'Bolton' wouldn't have been classed as such in years gone by... Deane, Farnworth etc. In fact I think Little Hulton once was part of Deane Parish. Things change...

As an aside, I know Over Hulton and Little Hulton, but where exactly is Middle Hulton?

Its the posh name for Upper Daubhill

Between Morris Green Lane and Hulton Lane, roughly, give or take a couple of hundred yards each way.

Aye, it's about Morris Green Lane up until the start of Plodder Lane, just past the top end of Hulton Lane.

Little Hulton was not a part of salford until 1974 it was in fact a part of Worsley U.D.C. most older folk from Walkden and Little Hulton were Bolton supporters, the situation is similar to boltton being in Lancashire until the 1970s, it is now classed as Gtr Manchester, in my eyes Bolton is a Lancashire town as little hulton and Walkden belong more to Bolton than Salford, for any old walkden little hulton folk, here is a great website with photos and memories from a better time for the 2 towns.

Great Link Mounts, thanks for that. ( It takes someone from LH to understand your user name!) As an original Little Hultoner (born in Bolton though, Halsams Maternity Home, Chorley New Road no less!), your facts are spot on. The 'spills' were like immigrants to us. Took a while for them to be accepted but it wasn't long before we were all talking like Mancs! All my mates at school were from Salford and all reds! I was almost converted to the 'dark side' on a number of occasions but always kept the faith. Its one of the reasons that I get hacked off by the negativity of many whites fans from Bolton.

Which, I think, brings us back to the beginning.

I'm not from LH, but I understand MK's name easily.
