Didnt he also say we've only used 18 players this season? I've been at all the home matches and think that considering some of the stuff on offer, the fans have been very supportive. Three games where they have shown they were not happy:-

 

Northampton- Relegated to the bottom league, could have had five against us in the first half

 

Fulham- Supposed to be our push for Europe, certainly the 3 points that would keep us safe. Fulham had scored 3 away goals and no wins all season.

 

Sunderland- A team on a desperate run of form, we made them look at times like Barcelona by standing off throughout the first half.

 

The rest of the home games the support has been excellent. He is a stupid man if he has made these alleged comments.

You do express yourself very eloquently. Any chance of backing up why Gary is justified in slagging off us the customer again? . I'm very offended by it.

You know it's getting bad when you switch GMR on after Bolton have played and there's a queue of Bolton fans waiting to get on the radio to say "Megson out."

 

It's got to the point now of being cringeworthy.

c'mon frank, there a number of fans who actually know more about the internal workings of the club than the manager (!!!!!!!!!)

 

And, they would make better managers. FACT.

The form since the good spell in November has been very disappointing. However i expect the bolton board will be happy with being in this position every season, but its a precarious one, our current form in other seasons at this time would see us down and we have hardly had a difficult run in. I dont feel he can do any better and his big money signings from last summer have not improved the side. Whilst most say Elmander will improve, i just cannot see it.

 

He has split the fan base and there is much unrest and infighting. This will not change and he is foolish coming out with this rubbish. Away fans are always more behind the team when on opposition ground, have been since the 60's. Many managers at Burnden got stick from the manny road north. Phil Neal got far worse than GM and Ian Greaves took a lot more than people realise. To spout on about making a profit is silly, whether he has or has not given the situation.

 

He should keep his council and get on with the job. The jury is still out imo. If the team does not improve the discontent will become worse and his position untenable.

I agree with more or less everything that THunter has wrote in this thread especially "Megson does himself no favours".

Overall though, I am more in favour of Megson than against him.

Managers are judged on many things........ results, player purchases, motivational skills (with players), motivational skills (with fans), their private life and hobbies away from work, ability to deliver the right message in media interviews, getting the 3pts without 'entertaining' football, not getting the 3pts but providing 'entertaining' football, having the bottle to drop the best players when they are off-form, having the strength of character to carry on when faced with obstacles, etc.

Some of these are more important than others and on balance my opinion is that I am in favour of Gaz Megson being our manager.

 

My observation would be that negativity starts off on the pitch & spreads to the fans, not the other way round.

Clearly it's right to say that negativity from the fans doesn't help, but that's not the starting point.

The very first day that Gary Megson was appointed as our manager a few dickheads protested outside the Reebok with a banner saying "Megson No No No". It wasn't even a match day and he had only just stepped foot in his office for the first time, he hadn't taken his first training session. In the papers there were many more negative comments about him. Did Phil Neal get all that shit on his first day? Where people criticising Gartside's appointment of Allardyce in the same way, even though what bit of success Big Sam had achieved was in lower league?

This is probably the single most reason why I support Gary Megson.

I'd have to say Megson has a fair point. It's been pointed out on many occaisions that the travelling support generally is much more voiciferous and all up for a good old-fashioned sing-song.

Not sure how stating the bleeding obvious is showing a lack of respect to the fans

 

 

Yeah buts that goes for all teams, look at Sunderland last week, whne they have played at home they have been walking out after 60 mins.

Phil Gartside or whoever decided on the appointment created a rod for his/their own backs appointing Megson.They knew it wouldn't be a popular choice.

You can't always rely on the option of appointing a former player as a manager, think back to the time when Megson was appointed - what option would you have had? Peter Reid?!

 

Sure, if today was then, Owen Coyle would be top of the list but at the time Megson was appointed he wasn't even in consideration.

 

The quality of football under Megson has oftne been poor but the man has kept us up for the 2 seasons he has been in charge, so his aims and goals for each season have been met.

and with some shrewd Megson signings and the fans on board we can push on to challenge for the Europa next season

Can't argue with, except that he hasn't split the fan base. Fans have chosen their own way, as they have with, for example, Muamba and Elmander.

I've taken at everton mate to few games this season including last week. And he can't believe the stick the team gets. Reckons they can't win. Direct football and we moan, pass it around and we moan, defending a corner and we moan. Basically he thinks we are cunts.
