Saw him interviewed on Sky News this morning. There was the Sky news presenter, William Hague and a couple of no marks from the red rags and the nondescript centrists. Also saw the rent a crowd anti fcuking everything, new age workshy dreadlocked brigade outside the Manchester location.

 

Almost hysterical reaction from the 'established' parties about them winning a seat in Europe. All they wanted to do was go on the attack about immigration and racial issues and not talk about any other policy. Just harried and harangued him for 5 minutes. Is it fear because they know that some small percentage of what they say registers with British Joe Public?

 

The BNP may have the support of many odious knuckledraggers and some crackpot policies but it was sad to see the result of years of socialist brainwashing manifesting itself in a ' Let's just shout him down' performance by those in the studio. The media will put it down to a protest vote, Labour will rationalise it accordingly, but the rise of UKIP and BNP shows how much of thi country has had enough of Europe and loss of sovereignty.

I see Labour have been well and truly trounced again. How the hell Brown stay on as PM I do not know, we need an election asap to put all this expenses shite behind us and have a government in place that can concentrate on getting the economy back on track, whichever party that may be.

The only leaflets that I got was from the conservatives and a newspaper called Hope Not Hate which was published by the left and was an anti BNP publication. If the they had canvassed on a more pro Labour agenda, then maybe they could have beaten the BNP where it matters, through the balot box!

I reckon voter apathy has a lot to do with it - a low turnout creates a vacuum which the fringe parties can then exploit - how many on here actually bothered to vote?

I'm wondering about the folk who've changed from Labour to Tory, is it policies or is it an anti sleaze vote, as the Tory's seem to be as bad if not worse than Labour at fiddling expenses.

That couple with a tremendous loss of (can't find the right word so i'll say..) faith in British politics has left a volatile pot for protest ballots. I reckon a lot who are on the fringe of sympathising with these parties have just been nudged that little bit into a vote. What I do think is ridiculous is the way the other parties have retorted to the seat elections. "Darkest day in British politics" being one way over the top quote.

Yeah fair point, MP's from all parties have shown themselves to self-serving twathooks. Opinion polls have shown the Tories well ahead of Labour for quite some time now. If anything, this expenses row has hit the Tories just as much as Labour. I think at the general election there will be a lot more independant and green MP's sworn in by voters who would have changed from red to blue before all this.

It's just unfortunate that Labour are in government whilst this debacle has come to light. They're all as bad as each other. No doubt if we had a Conservative government in power, they would be paying just as heavily. So unfortunately yes, a margin of the cross-over will be an 'anti-sleaze' vote as you put it. Politicians are filth of the highest order.

I pretty much agree with that quote & don't think it's over the top at all. Luckily, it's due to proportional representation that's made this happen & so come a General Election I'm still hoping that they won't get a big enough vote to get an MP in.

I am quite disappointed that people casting protest votes felt the BNP were worthy of it. Why not one of the other minor parties whose candidates and members aren't rapists, criminals and ex or closet neo Nazis? Very dismaying. And the irony of Griffin farting on about political correctness when he stood on stage last night and said that any immigrant or non-white who contributes to society can stay - his party has changed its tune more than any other in order to present itself as electable. Elements of the British public are obviously deeply gullible.

 

Starving them of publicity obviously hasnt worked, just like it didn't with Sinn Fein in Northern Ireland years ago. Griffin can just about handle himself in interviews, so Newsnight and so on should be getting other boneheaded members of the party on who couldn't argue their way out of a paper bag. Opponents should expose them for what they are, which is the old National Front in suits and with fancy leaflets.

Kilroy Silk left UKIP a while ago and is now an independent MEP. When I lived in Lydiate, I used to see him on a Friday night in the Snig's Foot Hotel in Ormskirk meeting up with the local Labour party members. This was before he started going on TV. I didn't like him then.
