Zat Knight

Just been told from the same source that told me about Cahill for England and Sean Davis signing, that we have put in a bid for Zat Knight.

I don't know anything else like how much etc.

Good signing if it comes off IMO.

so you dont have a clue about Greening then?

Garrp, is there anyone you wouldn't have us sign? Why do I get the feeling that if Megson was keen to sign my milkman, you'd be proclaiming him as a great addition?

It isnt obligatory to like everyone we are suddenly linked with.

NO!

I mean that we have been told to expect a different style of play. And to do that we need different players that can perform that role. So far sean davis aside, we are generally being linked with players that are at best average for our club or at worst will only consolidate our maligned style of recent years.

Then dont belive what your read in the media, fucking easy really :good:

But the point he's making is correct, Greening is an attacking midfielder and would therefore show a change in how we play it through the middle.

Knights better than Andy OB and Shittu so yes sign him!

Prefer Distin, Faye or Tel Ben Haim tho. (Too big a wage tho)

The point was Greening is a ball at the feet type attacking midfielder so if we did sign him it would indicate a change in the style of play which the previous poster moaned at saying it wasnt happening :pardon: Theres no mention of Greening's ability in there or anything saying he would be a good signing or not.

of course i realise that greening is an attacking midfielder but so was I and i'm not good enogh either. as stated in my earlier post, "players that are at best average". greening falls into this category.

or players that only cosolidate our maligned style of play.....robinson etc

cant see us getting him for 3 mill more like 5

I think you have to be realistic in the type of player Megson is capable of attracting . Considering his very mediocre track record, he's done well to get in Cahill, Taylor, S Davis. He hasn't the charisma of an Allardyce so its best to not to have too high expectations

but..............you say his track record is mediocre and then list good signings he has made.

he also does not have the tarnished reputation of sam.

I wonder how much of sams dealing was done with the aid of a brown enveloppe?

Think knight will be a great addition to the team and will complement cahill well. Defo better than the shite we already have to play there . I would stay well clear of greening though dont rate him one bit . If he s looking at raiding his old club i would take a punt on morrison . Good ball player , pacey and chips in with the odd goal too.

JayJay, Campo, Youri et al , did not sign for BWFC because of this charismatic manager called Sam Allardyce. In fact they more than likely had never heard of him (or Bolton Wanderers for that matter) until their agents approached them with the sound of crinkly greenbacks in their ears.

If they had been offered the same contract at that time with a manager called Gary Megson they would still have signed.

I knew I would come back on here and see Veggie Plantpot and Pro Plantpot had missed the point.

moan moan fuckin moan

so goodnight

peep elsewhere

How can either party say what would or wouldn't have happened if FSA or Smegson were in charge when those players were looking for an EPL club?

Got me a bit intrigued this speculation over Knight.

He seems to be a good player but why then did first Fulham and now Villa want to move him on? Not like either clubs had too many centre backs at the time that they could spare him?

Don't know if the following two news stories about him are relevant in anyway?

SOCCER star Zat Knight was led away in handcuffs after armed drug cops raided his mum?s house early yesterday.

The England defender?s brother Carlos, 26, wearing only his underwear, was marched out at gunpoint by police backed up by dogs.

Substances believed to be Class A drugs crack cocaine and heroin were said to have been seized at the house in Erdington, Birmingham.

Only hours later, talented 6ft 6in Zat was paraded by Premiership club Aston Villa as their new ?3.5million signing.

Sources claimed a desperate bid was made at the Erdington address to throw suspected drugs from a back window of the property as cops came crashing in the front.

.....and this -

Knight plays down injury incident

Fulham defender Zat Knight insists there is nothing "sinister" behind the broken jaw that will keep him out for two months.

Cottagers boss Chris Coleman admitted he initially questioned Knight's explanation that he was injured in a play-fight with his brother.

"I told Zat that to break a jaw takes more than horseplay, but I've no reason to believe anything else," he said.

Wrong imo, we have to be realistic in what our club (Bolton Wanderers Football Club) can attract, fickle fans, small ground, small fan base, fans that leave the ground 10 mins before the end of the game and if where competing with the likes of Spurs, Everton, West Ham we will lose everytime. Big Sam signed down and out players where there careers where going nowhere, obviously nobody else went for these players or we would'nt of had them. We offered them big wages and in return only offered short term saftey, Megson on the other hand is building for the future, a young talented mainly English sqaud.

Imo, Cahill who signed for Bolton after Megson was 6 months in charge, is a far better signing than Big Sam ever made in 9 years. We will either get 20 million plus for him or 10 years of perfection from him, someone who we could also build a team around.

How about having a squad made up of mainly established English young-ish capable players and then, just for a bit of fun throwing in a couple of names that fall into the category of our previous "galacticos" and maybe a couple of speedy wingers as a gamble.

Surely as a Premiership side we should, despite Megson, be able to attract a bit more than we are currently.

I wonder whether our scouting system is worth a jot when all we'd need to do is ring the Premiership sides and see if they've anyone they don't need/want.
