Flintoff Has Called A Press Conference

Featured Replies

Because it's a team game?

If Bolton were hanging on to a lead and Jussi decides in the last minute he quite fancies scoring a goal and fooks off up front, we wouldn't be too pleased would we?

The difference is, for Jussi to fuck off upfront would be totally out of character and a change in how he would normally play.

Pieterson has got to where he is by playing the way he does.

As Cas says, by playing this way he wins us games and takes the game to the oppposition.

also, yes he might not be as good as ponting

but take a look at pontings record for the last 12 months....................

because he got out for 70/80 when ponting went on and made 150.

he was nt the the only one but it aint the first time trying to bring his 100 up by hitting a 6 ?

pieterson should be in the team becuase he is our best batsman, but he does not maximise his potential, in the first innings he could have just picked off runs all day instead he gave it away.

in your line of work if you constsantly turn over a profit that is good but if every time you offer odds on next goal scorer and get it wrong would nt you try and improve that ? if he wants to be world class he has to score more.

Of course you try and improve, but surely you dont change your whole game bescause the rest of the team are not pulling their weight?

You play how you need to to score as many runs as possible.

He takes risks and scores a lot of runs, but he could score more by taking less risks.

Not syaing he changes his whole game just that as he matures he needs to decide at times that the risk/reward ratio needs to be right.

people defending the shot or how he got out are just as blinkered as people saying he should be dropped. (actually not as blinkered but going down the same path)

i think he is a massive asset to the team but if wants to be one of the best in the world he has to improvement his judgement.

what is wrong is that prior and flintoff going at a run a ball is seen as good fun, they both could have batted longer for more runs as well, but that has nt been mentioned.

HALLELUJAH !!!

Someone has joined me in the 'Showpony' hatred of Pietersen !!

The guy is a one man team, only plays for himself, always has and always will - accepted he scores runs but only for himself... and his stupid shots he gets out to are him trying to 'show off' for the cameras... get him out and get someone who can dig in and play for the team and not their ego !!

Jesu f?cking Christ. Only in this country could a bloke average fifty and still have maniacs calling for him to be dumped. Utter lunacy.

Ani's got it just about reet, but crazed ramblings like the above suggest sectioning under the Mental Health Act.

I don't hate him - like Ani - just think he needs to be more sensible.

The bastard love child of him and Collingwood would be some player.

Ok then lets drop him and bring in Robert Key  FFS i give up.

Didnt K.P get out in the 2nd innings trying to play for the team, what I mean is he was trying to stay in to bat for a while, but he was out of his comfort zone and instead of being naturally aggressive got out leaving a ball maybe he would of played. We are a better side with him in than out.

Fair enough and il agree with that.#

but just to throw a comparison into the mix, some Say Okocha was never the same player after Sam taught him when the right time was to do his tricks. I accept that it was most probably just to do with his age, but its something to think about.

surely you have someone like KP in the team in full knowledge that their just as likely to get out playing at a daft ball as they are at getting an epic score?

As Maggie says only in England would this Mercurial talent be seen as a bad thing

Theres plenty batsmen around who can score big scores batting for days like Ponting but there arent many like Pieterson who can score so quickly. Batting slowly but getting a big score can also lose you games because of the time factor. Ponting got a big score in the 1st test but did they win? No because they spent too long batting sensibly

i agree with the okocha bit

"flicks and tricks won't get the ball in the box JJ, but a long throw in will"

same for Pieterson

that's the way he is, don't try to change him, might make him a worse player

ponting scored at 0.66 per ball, KP at 0.48 per ball...............................JSL.

Sooner he and that big time Charlie, Pietersen get out of our team the better.

i dont usually bite at stuff me but im hot sunburned and fucking tired today........

Thats the most fucking ridiculous comment ive ever heard on here and there have been some clangers.

Pieterson is a confident man but 8 times out of ten will back up that with performances, yeas he gets out out 99 going for the big shots to get a hundred etc but he fucking makes runs. Cricket is about scoring runs and taking 20 wickets.

Freddie can take wickets and KP can score runs.

A truly idiotic comment

Just goes to show how blinkered some are. Pietersen's shot in that first innings was ridiculous, no-one pretends otherwise and no matter what he says in public, he knows it himself.

HOWEVER

It was, given the context of the match, nowhere near as bad as the shots played in the second innings, whilst trying to save the game, by Strauss, Prior and though they got most of the job done, Collingwood and Swann. When all you need to do is bat time how it is even within the realms of possibility to get out playing ambitious attacking shots is beyond my comprehension. Those were the shots which got us into so much trouble, not Pietersen's rush of blood first innings when six other batters passed 30. He also wasn't responsible for an extremely toothless bowling display. People can choose scapegoats all they want, but they are ignorant of the facts in the matter.

Same here, I've never understood when you have to see out 30 overs how the hell you get caught in the gulley like Collingwood... I just don't get it

Likewise Anderson hitting the 2 fours late on, as much as I cheered - why did he do it? They were safe-ish hits but still... why even throw your bat at it ?

Thats because he was out for fuck all, do you really think it KP got in and batted as long as Ponting he would have scored less? Fucking no chance. Fact is Australia lost because they batted too slowly and people are now critcising one of the quickest and prolific scorers in the world because he had a bad test.

this was in first innings. KP scored 70/80.

i am not criticising KP, the aussies have changed how test matches are played, they did nt win the test becuase a session was lost to rain and our tail batted longer than anyone would have imagined.

if you read my posts on this i have said that KP is what he is, if he wants to go on and be a 'great' he has to improve some of his shat selection. even if he does nt he is our best batsman.

The criticisng him bit wasnt really aimed at you because you havent done, i can also understand what you saying about his shot selection. I do believe he will be remebered as a great whatever happens but if he wants to be one of the best ever he needs to be a bit more canny because he does always seem to get out in a daft way.

Is he pebble dashing again?

No fan of cricket, but slagging off KP?!

Jesus, are you jealous the lads got talent or something?

Seems to be the English way, Build them up knock them down, dont understand it myself <_<

i took it to being a knob

Pietersens' average is 50. Other batsmen like Collingwood, Cook etc average 45. Those extra 5 runs worth his disruptive influence?

You sound like you're a cricket guru.
