How much is too much to pay for a gig?? ( I know some of you would have to be paid ?200 to go watch Bon Jovi, but if it was a band that you really liked?..)

Everyone has their "anyprice/at all costs" gig. Mine would be a Soundgarden reunion, for example.

 

Personally, I'd rather eat my own pubes in soup than watch Bon Jovi.

I paid 70 quid last night including all them robbing fees & stuff. At the time I thought, what a rip off, last night 2 bars into Chant No.1 I realised it was all worth it.

I'd say what you do with your money is your business. Only trouble with a gig in London though is everything else that has to go with it.

NB's reet Albob, pay what you think the gig is worth, we've all paid silly money to watch summat in the past, be it a band or a match, go and enjoy it and fuck the cost.

I think it's a case of what's it worth to you. I tend to draw the line at ?25 these days too unless it's something special. If they come back 6 months later wanting the same again they can get fucked.

 

As Bon Jovi will die then it's academic anyway.

Most i've paid for one gig is ?60 from a tout to see the deftones, most i've paid the box office is ?45 for Metallica at the MEN

Exactly what other folk have said. Only you know how much you are willing to pay. If i replaced Bon Jovi with my favourite band then there is no way i would pay more than ?50, possibly ?60 for a good seat or area in a stadium. Anything more than that is a complete and utter rip-off. The problem with stadium gigs is that prices escalates depending how much of the experience you want to errm.. experience. Songs sound exactly the same at the back as they do at the front, and the view is far better when the DVD is released.

 

BTW, I do not hold the same views when it comes to football.

The thing with big venues, like the O2, is that if you get the ?45 tickets you might as well stay at home and listen to some CDs, as you'll never see the band you'll be that far away.

I think paying too much spoils a concert, no matter who it is. Im just happy that The Strangers dont rip their fans off.

normally any ammount of money at the MEN is too much, the sound is utter wank.

I reckon about ?2m. He is still a decent player and if you should get a couple of good seasons out of him

My better experiences of gigs have been at the more intimate venues like manc academy and leeds uni.You can get that close you can almost touch the artists.

 

Whereas took junior to see Girl's Aloud at Men and could hardly see them.Looked at video screen most of the time but she liked it and that's all that matters.

 

Cheapest I have paid is a tenner and most was for Oasis at Heaton Park for ?50 bar.

 

Saw Flo Machine,White Lies,Friendly Fires and Glasvegas for ?20 on the NME tour last year which imo was a bargain.

How much is too much? One hundredandthirtyfivefuckingpoundsandtwentybasterdpence for two Miley Cirrus tickets. If it isnt milf central (and gets me awww look at good dad over there) and Dad of the year award I wont be fucking happy.

Once its over ?30 it starts getting silly, same with Football but i would pay more for a mini festival type gig that they have at the likes of LCCC, if it's 3-4 bands that i really like. A normal gig with a lesser known support act i'm happy to pay ?20-25

1p is too much to pay to watch a live band,nowadays anyhow all shite,imo
