birch-chorley Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) I will own up and say i was not the first poster to mention Billic for manager but my posts have been shot down as ridiculous for even mentioning him, took this qoute from another thread that would suggest he is definatly worth an approach if/WHEN GM gets the boot..... source- espn soccernet - nov 26th Croatia boss Slaven Bilic rejected an approach from the Scottish Football Association to succeed George Burley. Slaven Bilic rejected the chance to manage Scotland Bilic, 41, has remained in charge of Croatia despite finishing below England and Ukraine in World Cup qualification and missing out on a place in South Africa, but he remains open to potential job offers. His agent, Rudi Vata, revealed he had been willing to speak to Portsmouth before Avram Grant was named their new boss but that he was not interested in holding talks over the Scotland job. Nonetheless, clubs in the Premier League and Bundesliga are apparently still interested in his services and it appears Bilic is ready to move on. "I recently had a request about the Scotland national team and Bilic was not interested in that at the moment," Vata told The News. The English Premier League is one of the top leagues in Europe. "He wants to make the right decision and he wants to make the right move. There are clubs in Germany and England who are interested in him." For me this would be an excellent move, for one i think we would see alot more of Klasnic who for me has looked our best attcking threat in the small doses that we have seen of him. I also think he would be able to bring exceptionl scouting resources from the balkans which could prove vital this January. If he would look at Pompey he would look at us, no questions! If he stays with Croatia he would not have a competative game for over 12 months. Even if we get good resulte the next three games i would still personally prefer getting Billic in now as i think long term prospects would be so much greater. Your thoughts please......... birch-chorley Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 Like i said "if and when" It will happen, IMO opinion best before January and if so Billic is the mana for the job! The futures bright the futures Billic!

bwfcol Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Deluded much? Bilic would be after a much bigger club than ourselves
RUREADY2ROLL Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Deluded much? Bilic would be after a much bigger club than ourselves Only two years ago Nickolas Anelka wore the white top Before him we had many top names in our squad - people now say top names wont come to little old Bolton. The problem is we have been brought down to little old bolton since Sammy Lee's awful mediocre signings followed by much the same with GM The tide needs to turn and to help it turn we need a manager with a bit or charisma and we all should be proud to follow this great club - onwards and upwards I am not sure if Bilic is the best man for the job but if doesn't want to manage the club with the best fans in the world he is a tosser
WALKERVILLE Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Deluded much? Bilic would be after a much bigger club than ourselves So Megson is as good as it gets is It !! Well god help us , We use to have ambition.
blackleywhite Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Christ. Is this what it has come to? Happy. shut it down. Save us all.
bwfcol Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 So Megson is as good as it gets is It !! Well god help us , We use to have ambition. There's ambition and wasting your time Ambition = Man City signing Robinho Wasting time = Man City trying to sign Kaka Bilic will have no shortage of offers, he will want a club with a lot more transfer money than we can provide, nothing to do with lacking ambition. If Megson was to go I wouldn't want a ridiculous line of failed attemps, why not go for Guus Hiddink? We have to be realistic. We are NOT a big club, we threw a lot of money at players who were desperate for a chance in English football or fancied one last pay day before they retired. This does not make us an attractive, if you watched our game last Sunday with the crowd booing would you want to come?
birch-chorley Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 Am i blind? Yet again read the comment from Slaven Billic's agent- "His agent, Rudi Vata, revealed he had been willing to speak to Portsmouth before Avram Grant was named their new boss but that he was not interested in holding talks over the Scotland job. He wanted a crack at the pompey post and they didnt interview him as they had Avram Grant lined up, if he would consider Pompey in the turbulent state that they are in where knowone knows the day to day finances then SURELY he is worth speaking to if we are looking for a manager??????? If he would consider Pompey then i think we have a half decent shout! Also read into the fact he would look at Bundesliga or the Prem, any manager worth his salt would want a crack at the prem and he has no chance of landing a job at Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton, Aston Villa, Spurs, Fulham, Burnley, Stoke, Sunderland, Wigan, City (none of thes will lose a manager bar Lpool / city who will go for bigger than Billic) Which leaves Brum, Pompey (who didnt interview him), Wolves (Seem happy with Mcarthy), Bburn (BSA doesnt look like getting sacked before GM), Which leaves us, west ham, Hull. Its a case of who gets sacked first. I DONT KNOW ABOUT YOU NEGATIVE TWATS BUT I THINK WE WOULD HAVE A SHOUT OF LANDING HIM SHOULD WE BE LOOKING FOR A MANAGER BEFORE HULL AND WEST HAM! If you dont think we are big enough to attract Slaven Billic you should go and follow Bury! do us all a favour, Your bringing this club down with your lacluster ambition! Again like i said IF / WHEN IT HAPPENS. Good night.

Again like i said IF / WHEN IT HAPPENS. Good night. His agent is clearly just letting everyone know that he is available, Pompey didn't consider anyone other than Grant! I honestly think that this is just agent crap, just like when we are linked with a player to get other clubs interested. I don't know how "bigger" club you think we are, there are bigger clubs in League One than us right now (in fact Leeds often get bigger attendances than we do). I'm not saying we are a League One sized club but people should realise who we are competing against and what resources we have. I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic.

bwfcol Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Megson it is then! You don't need to bold your reply, I can read I'm not saying Megson is the best we can get though, I'm just trying to point out that if Megson left we might not have a queue of top managers applying for the job
birch-chorley Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 Gary Megson is rubbish, i am not being negative i am being realistic - it works both ways! Croatians tend to end up in Germany but Billic speaks fluent English from his time at West Ham, he has spoken before about his ambition to manage in the prem, he has to start somewhere. Maybee he will end up at a top 6/8 German side (i dont know alot about german football) but if he fancies the prem then he only has limited options us Hull, West Ham - depending on who gets sacked and when. As big as Leeds / Newcastle / Forrest / Sheff Wed are the funds available are much less due to them not being in the prem. He has to start somewhere, no big team is or will be looking for a manager until next season, i think if we sell him the position then we have half a chance of landing him as his options are more limited than you think. If you disagree the please name me 5 more better positions for Billic that you think will be available in the next 12 months??????? I cant think of any bar West Ham who a) Dont have a pot to piss in seem happy with Zola after last seasons top 9 finish. Happy shut the place down??????
birch-chorley Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 Forgot to add "THE FUTURES BRIGHT THE FUTURES BILLIC"
bwfcol Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Well, I can't see into the future so I don't know what jobs will come up, especially in Germany He'd go to West Ham ahead of us for sure due to his links with us Man City may be available, Liverpool too, I have a feeling Moyes may walk from Everton There's bound to be 1/2 German/Italian/Spanish jobs suitable for him too
birch-chorley Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 Well, I can't see into the future so I don't know what jobs will come up, especially in Germany He'd go to West Ham ahead of us for sure due to his links with us Man City may be available, Liverpool too, I have a feeling Moyes may walk from Everton There's bound to be 1/2 German/Italian/Spanish jobs suitable for him too Funnily enough i cant see in to the future either but if we where looking for a manager in the next 3/4 weeks then i think we would have a shout. Yes Everton / West Ham have a better chance of landing him (bigger clubs and he played for both) but if we offer him a job in the next 3/4 weeks (again if the job is available) the Everton / West ham job may not be on the horizon which would give us a shout. Croations dont tend to end up in Spain / Italy - from Slavan Billic wikipedia "His playing tenure predominantly comprised extended vocations in his hometown with Hajduk Split and a combination of foreign spells in Germany and England." Italian / spanish would be new languages etc. As far as Lpool / man city are concerned they would be going for much bigger more proven managers than billic eg Mourinho etc. Also taken from wiki - On 30 April 2008, Bilić agreed to extend his contract for a further two years. The new deal is worth 1.2 million kuna ($340,000) a year and will take the former Croatia defender up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa He currently earns just over ?4000 a week as croatian manager, thats about 1/8 of Nicky Hunts weekly wage. Money speaks volumes if we stuck ?12,000 a week down i would be confident of nailing him (should there be no Everton / west ham aproach looming). Not trying to be funny just dont like being shot down for something that is not so bizare when you look underneath it.
Traf Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) birch, Stop cutting & pasting vast chunks of texts from external sources, please. A brief appraisal and a link will suffice: see Rule 3 ( as someone else pointed out to you much earlier) Edited November 27, 2009 by Traf
bolton in bedford Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Maybe the crack pipe is out in your opinion, but the fact remains that 88% of WW's posters want Megson out, yet when anyone puts a name forward it always seems the 12% come out in force shitting on any suggestion. Why is Bilic out of the question, if he wants Premier, what other teams are there, apart from the so called big 4 there is Spurs, Redknapp doing a good job, Villa, can't see them swapping O'Neill just yet, Everton and Moyes, I don't think so, which leaves Man City, if Hughes gets the bullet I can't see Citeh going for Bilic they have the money to think they can attract a Mourinho or eqivalent (disillusioned) so who else is there (Stoke, Blackburn, Fulham, Hull, Birmingham etc) we are as an attractive proposition as the best of the rest, Euorpean experience and an established premiership side which would be a challenge, we are putting ourselves down and Bilic is exactly the type of manager we should be targeting.
Traf Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I don't disagree with your reasoning, but............................ 1. I don't think he'd come here. 2. He has no experience at this level. I think a national coach's job is easier than being Bolton manager. As Croatian manager, he is only limited by a player's birthplace. As Bolton manager, he'd have the financial constraints to deal with amongst other things. 3. Most suggestions get ridiculed, because if Megson were to go, we'd need an Premier league-experienced manager and the ones currently available are only marginally (if at all) better than what we have.
birch-chorley Posted November 28, 2009 Author Posted November 28, 2009 With regards to rule 3 - i have not posted entire articles from other sources (only bits from other posts) and Wikipedia is not copyrite material. If i said Billic was only earning ?4000 a week you would have said i was talking shit so i backed up my point. Also it seems to me like its OK to say you have to get behind GM because he is our manager weather he has the correct experience or not when it suits, but if you look at it GM had only won 7 prem games before he got the BWFC job (hardly prem experience). If Billic comes in having won 0 prem games as manager then yes he would have less prem experience than Megson but not by much. The only point i was trying to make with this post was that IF / WHEN we are looking for a manager then this guy is worth an approach, as the evidence shows we would have a chance of getting him. Cant believe the neagative twats on this site, happy shut it down. crack pipe my arse, whats Roy Mvfarland doing?
Traf Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 If you'd said Bilic was earning ?4k a week and then posted a weblink to back it up, that would have sufficed. I actually thought he was on less than that. Secondly, we don't accept Wikipedia as a verified/verifiable source either. Any online resource that can be edited by anyone, isn't to be trusted. If Bilic got the job, I'd back him. I just don't think he'll be our next manager.

For what it's worth birch I agree with you, Bilic would be a good option & we are capable of attracting him. Oh, and this site is absolutely riddled with negative twats!
Traf Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) 1. Where do I criticise birch-chorley? 2. What the fuck has it got to do with you? 3.
