I think you are wrong . Megson is just an excuse for people not to go. I do not go as often as i did. This is because i realised there are more important things in life than busting a gut to get to the reebok.

 

To answer your question i have enjoyed quite a few games this season but i think that maybe because i use the match as a way to see friends i have not seen for a while and not just the football. I accept there haven't been many great performances though. Regarding the split between the fans i do not understand why if you refuse to slate megson that makes you pro him rather than pro bolton. He is not my choice and i think the guy is clueless when it comes to PR etc but as long as he is the manager of bolton he will have my backing purely because i am sick to the back teeth of people moaning before a ball has even been kicked.

I was at the Braga match with my 12 year old daughter when GM was appointed.The crowd were booing him during the match even though he hadn't taken charge yet.She asked why the BWFC fans were booing him and I said I had no idea.I said you have to give the guy a chance.

 

Basically GM has never stood a chance with BWFC fans.

 

I personally don't like the guy but if he gets sacked that would mean BWFC getting relegated or we are losing matches.That I don't want so would rather GM stayed meaning the side are successful.I think it is sad that some fans would rather see us go down so GM is replaced.For me they are not proper fans.

 

The only thing that would stop me renewing my s/t after 19 years is finances not who is manager of the club/or what we league we are in.

Ditto!For me he is just too inconsistant,along with the team!Just when you think it's all clicking into place it falls apart at the seams!I could understand if we've been ravaged by injuries but he's had almost a full squad to choose from in most games this season and the squad is pretty much one that he has put together!

IMO he never helped himself with the way his PR was run, you can say he doesnt need to be good at PR until you are blue in the face but its just not true. A manager of a football club is the pinacle of the club, the one who does interviews and is on Sky Sports News nearly everyday talking about the club and where its going.

 

If you get the PR right you get fans on board = more bums on seats = more cash for transfers = better players = sucsess. You also help build team spirit etc.

I agree with the gist of this, mainly that Gaz is a PR Disaster. Unfortunately what the Public perceives is often more important than the substance behind it.

A classic example of this is one of Bolton's all time favorites Ivan Campo. He said all the right things at the right time pandering to the fans, especially when his contract was up for renewal.

He was the same on the pitch even when his best days were behind him played to the crowd.

But at the end of the day when his services were no longer required he caused trouble for the management, and the Club as a whole. He deliberately divided the dressing room with his actions which very nearly cost BWFC it's Premier League status. He didn't give a shit about Bolton Wanderers at this time and was more concerned about his own selfish needs.

Campo has always maintained a good relationship with the fans. His PR skills are exemplary.

If Megson had a dose of Campo's Public Image he would have done himself no harm. Give the bugger a black curly wig and a jar of false tan.

I haven't been regularly since 2002 since my kids were born and a combination of finances and wanting to see my kids at a weekend rather than travel from Bedford weekly to wherever. I always look forward to Fulham away as cheap, the 8 bells and good day out, but no have to work tomorrow, the first Saturday in 4 years hence me getting pissed tonight in defiance.
