In my opinion it's a small price to pay, having Coyle in for saturday is essential, it will boost the players and the fans.

The fans & players are already boosted by Megson's departure.

Coyle will be at the game: whether he's in charge or not. The players will be playing for their places and the fans will be giving it some.

Then he takes over next week and we all get another little booster.

To be fair what impact will he have on Saturdays game? The players are in London they will travel back tonight/tmoz, this will leave very little time, if he is appointed immedialty to work with them closely before they travel upto the noth east. The players wil have the knowledge of his arrival for Saturdays game enough to give em the lift they need so for Saturday's game I dont think it is that essential.

I take your point but I just feel that it dragging on doesn't help matters, plus we've clearly got a caretaker manager still here that doesn't care and wants out ASAP

Of course it's unlikely there will be a game on Saturday at all

bit harsh that.. he will care, as if he makes a major feck up atm.. he'll struggle to get another job.. still has a duty of care etc..

the players will all be wanting to impress the new guy regardless and the fans will be vocal which will spurn on the players

I dont think that is the case okay he may be loyal to Mr Megson however he is a professional who's stock would rise with his handling of his current situation makes him employable elsewhere should he no longer be an employee of BWFC in the future.

If he didn't care, and he did "want out" why would he not just resign?

correct, you could tell from his pre match lincoln talk he was well f?cked off

"i am professional enough and mature enough to get the job on saturday done"

really meant

"you're all c?nts the way you treated my mate and i don't want to do this job, but till someone else comes in, i have too"

Do we think he's a freak or unique?

I have inside / BWFC employee information that Chris evans is a very likeable man.

He made more effort with people within the club than Megson.

I'll beg to differ & yes I have good information too but just a little more direct, & it wasn't difficult to have more interaction than GM did.

As Coyle is on gardening leave, any chance he can clear my lawn? It's a 'mare right now.

Don't for a minute think Sunderland game will be on this Saturday - forecasting heavy snow on that coast for at least rest of week.

Burnley have appointed coach Steve Davis as caretaker boss for Saturday's Premier League game with Stoke.

"The backroom staff will take the team on Saturday, Steve will be in charge," said Clarets chairman Barry Kilby.

Burnley are working to finalise a compensation deal with Bolton for their former boss Owen Coyle who said his goodbyes to club staff on Tuesday.

"We are all grown men, but it was quite emotional when Owen left, he has a big affection for this club," added Kilby.

"I fully expected when he did move it would be upwards, not sideways to a club we are fighting a relegation scrap with. We were surprised.

"But I have been in football long enough to know these things happen and I don't think Owen took this decision lightly.

606: DEBATE

Steve Davis is the man. We would not need to pay any compensation and I think he would not change our style that much

Claretinoz

"It was with regret that he went and he did say to me there was only Celtic or Bolton he would leave Burnley for. But it has come at a bad time, that is for sure."

Kilby is now keen to get a new manager in place sooner rather than later.

He added: "We have got to get going. Let's put this behind us and make sure we stay in this Premier League.

"We have to see who is out there. We need to get this one sorted out as soon as we can."

Burnley are due to travel to Bolton for a Premier League fixture on January 26 and Kilby admits relations between the two Lancashire clubs are strained.

"I don't think we (the clubs) are best of pals at the moment," stated Kilby. "It did come at a bad time and it was an unwelcome approach.

"Owen felt Bolton do have a larger player budget than we have and it was his best way of remaining a Premier League manager, working with a budget of that size.

"It's been a trauma for the football club. None of us wanted Owen to go. It was a shock when all this broke."

Intresting comments?

She's right & I could quote someone from the club, but I won't.

The Burnley site now has an article from the chairman (Barry Kilby is the sort of name that sounds like a Halifax defender in 1970) stating that they want another young andf hungry manager to replace Coyle.

Hopefully tomorrow is the day

What are they doing?

Having 3 hour coffee breaks every minute <_<

It's quite an important meeting, possibly the most important in our club's recent history. Does it need to be rushed?
