Well is it just me - or will the crowd be boosted by the return of Owen Owen Coyle??

Just over a thousand higher than our previous best home attendance this season, 22,735 against City.

Looks like we'll have to put those redevelopment plans on hold.

As has been pointed out; Sunday evening TV game in middle of winter. Not exactly the best game to be judging the return of the anti-megson folk. I hear a week on Tuesday may be a bit better crowd-wise.

giving 500 tickets away explains why there should've been more

just added for balance

I thought it was a reasonable effort but not great by the Bolton public, suppose Rome was not built in a day, it was a step in the right direction and the atmosphere was positive, added to that I have not seen so many people smiling at the Reebok for a long time.

Given a big block on arsenal tickets unsold/not used, based on that upto 2000 extra bolton fans for a live sky game.

A massive step in the right direction.

It wasn't a good effort from the football club to attract the fans back either.?35 for a match that is live on Sky is unrealistic.

The games against Burnley and Fulham that aren't on TV and have cheaper tickets are likely to get a better response.

only half a stadium open isnt there?

Not sure but i would of hoped for a few more than that

Upper tier of west stand is now open.

reckon City had maybe about 750 more fans?

Arsenal had a good following

I thought the gate was higher than it was, east stand looked full, west lower was and usual distribution of empty seats in the upper

couldn't see north upper as i sit in lower but that lower looked full as well

would've said 25K miself

Upper tier of west stand was already open.

Given the crowd was officially just under 24000, that means approx 4000 empty seats- didn't seem that many.

NSU was more empty seats than occupied seats.

My thoughts exactly. Are we harking back to the good old tax dodging days of the

seventies when it was oft remarked that the 'official' crowd was far lower than what were deemed to be on? ;)

I think 4000 empty seats is reasonable, about 1000 in the Arsenal end, at least that many in North Upper, leaving average of 500 each in East & West Lower & Upper. But the attendance figure doesnt represent how many people are in the ground, only the number of tickets sold. The difference between this game and previous games this season is that everyone that had a ticket appeared to turn up, against City there is no way there were 22,000 plus on, there must be hundreds and hundreds of season tickets, especially of the ?49 variety, that arent used every week because we were so disillusioned. Coyle will hopefully have the effect of galvanising people into wanting to come back to the Reebok, it isnt about cost of tickets its about whether you can be bothered using half a day of your weekend watching the rubbish that has been served up.

the figure declared is not tickets sold

i don't know who told you that but it aint true

Official figures count total number of people excluding staff (turnstile operators, stewards snack bar staff, police, etc.). There are only around 25,000 "general admission" seats in the stadium. The remainder of official capacity includes executive boxes, the directors box and even the DeVere Whites balcony in the South Stand. If there appears a few hundred less in the stands one game to another, an increase in hospitality attendance could at least partially explain similar official attendance figures published for the two games.

From my position a third of the way along the ESL from the screen, I would have thought that there were more like 2,000 empty seats in the away end (including seats covered for segregation), about 1,000 in the North Stand overall, and around another 1,000 in the West. That's 4,000 in total. 28,723-4,000=24,723. I reckon hospitality areas were almost at capacity. 24,723 minus official attendance of 23,893 = 830. From what I could see on tv, 830 empty seats between the East Stand and hospitality would probably be about right.

?27-35 to watch a match that's already been paid for in your Sky subscription in the worst financial week of the year will have probably kept over 2,000 at home or in the pub. The non-January non-Sky attendance could have easily topped 26,000. So not too bad a showing, all things considered.

Fulham will be the biggest test of home supporters; winnable game, a tenner a ticket and not on Sky= NO EXCUSES. The home stands should be packed!

Promised I wouldn't go again until Megson was gone-and I've kept my word.

Bought 2 tickets for Sunday today.Could not get 2 seats together and the operative showed me the screen showing remaining seats. There are about 6 seats left in total in the West Stand lower.

Category A fixture-no discounts(apart from the odd competition freebie)and almost a sell out.Gartside do you get the message-YOU CAN NOT IGNORE THE FANS AGAIN.
