Went to Manchester today with MrsD and parked atthe back of the Train Station (Down the ramp from Orlando Bridge.) I fololowed suit and parked down the middle. I wasn't causing an obstruction unless a 15' wide lorry was going to deliver something. I could have got a HGV both in front and behind without a problem.

The Parking ticket quotes:

Not parked within a designated space contrary to Section 14

Causing an obstruction contrary to section 14

 

As I've said, in no way was I causing any obstruction. Regarding the designated spaces bit, there are white lines marking some areas but certainly no marked out areas saying you can't park in a particular place.

 

Any Barrack Room Lawyers fancy saving me ??50?

Unless the council have stuck to every rule you stand a good chance. I've has a couple overturned as the signs displaying the parking rules were spaced too far apart.

Parking there is probably covered under railway byelaws and is as enforceable as a council ticket, I suspect.

I shall be there in the morning to see if the Byelaw 14 which they quote is affixed in a very visible location. If not they can poke their ??50.

Nah. Couldn't give a shite. They get paid extra for retaining fees just for being on call and available for their International Rescue stuff. I am driver/operator of specialised equipment for use in case of major flooding. I only get paid if I'm asked to use the stuff. No retaining fees. Seems to me like they get the dosh because it makes great news!

I've had 3 parking tickets and never had any stick (all from traffic wardens).

Infact I got one over turned for parking on double yellows as about 500 yards down the road as somebody doing some sort of work tarmaced over about 3 inches of yellow line.

 

This made the entire section null and void as it was broken.

 

Not enough people challenge these things.

The general consensus is that if it isn't a council ticketand is from a private operator on private land then its not enforcable in law. The advice on Pepipoo is to ingnore their letters and they will go away.

I got one after Blackburn game. Usually park on Scotts/Harvester but as I went with my 4 year old lad I thought I would park on Tesco.

Anyhow, they give you 90 minutes, for customers. I was on the last minute for kick off and half an hour later the ticket was issued.

I wrote to them, saying I was inside shopping and the ticket was issued 30 minutes into a 90 minute allowance.

Not heard from them as of yet. Sure it's void now, as they have to reply to your appeal within a certain time.

Got stung by a a so called car park in Wigan a good few months ago. No marked spaces as they had all worn away but got a ticket for parking outside of a designated spot. Thing is normally I would have stuck to my guns (I took pics with my mobile) to prove they were money grabbing bastards but I was that busy at the time I ended up settling it just to have done with it. Im sure they play on the same from many folks, twats.

I overstayed by 20 mins in a private car park. When I got back to the car some fella was taking pictures of it, but received no notification of any fine.
